Chapter 7: The Contract Ceremony

As part of the effort to catch up with the preparations and in honor of Alex, the Rocky City Urban housing agency hosted a dinner ceremony tonight in his honor. Alex called Mary to let her know the exciting news that he had just received.

After a short while, the call was finally connected, and a voice that sounded like Mary could be heard.

"Honey, I'm going to the Smiths Villa; would it be possible for you to pick me up when I get there?" The request was made by Mary to Alex.

"Would you rather I start out by telling you the good news or the bad news?" Alex exclaimed while erupting into a hearty laugh.

"Of course, this is the good news, honey. The total value of the contract is now double the amount that was initially budgeted for it. It's hard for me to fathom the possibility that I'd be in charge of billions of dollars." Alex whispered what he had to say.

"You deserve everything you received darling. Being sad is a waste of time right now. Is that the unfortunate report? "Mary went to ask Alex a question.

"The unfortunate news is that there will be a dinner organized for tonight in recognition of Lioness Arts' achievements. In order to be ready for tonight, it will be necessary for me to come and pick you up."

Mary swiftly interjected herself into the conversation by asking Alex, "How is that a bad news?"

"Because it's a spur-of-the-moment thing, and you don't want to be caught off guard, my dear. I'd like for everyone to get to know my stunning wife." Alex stated.

"As soon as you arrive at Villa, I will be waiting for you there."After hanging off the phone, Alex gave Kelly instructions to get the team ready for the dinner and to also let her know the mayor would be attending.

Kelly exclaimed with joy, "You never cease to amaze me, boss." Both of them got in their cars and drove off, and Alex immediately drove to the villa to pick up Mary.

Arriving there he was surprised to find out his bike has been smashed. "This looks like it was written with Henry in mind. I am sorry but I simply do not have the time to deal with you right now." Alex thought to himself as he started walking in the direction of the Smith Villa.

When Alex entered the living room, he was taken aback to find Henry present there at this hour. Mary was just walking downstairs, her glance connected with Alex's, she flashed him a wink. After that, Alex smiled.

"It's time for us to leave, Vicky. I still can't believe the mayor of Rocky City is going to be attending the dinner that I've been invited to attend." Henry boasted about this in front of Alex, not knowing that Alex had actually defeated him in the competition for the contract.

"Hurry up, because I'm dying to talk to the other members of the Lioness Arts team. They must work as a brilliant collective." Henry continued as Vicky followed behind him and the two of them quickly made their way out of the Smith Villa.

Alex and Mary arrived at the Dinner at the same time as Henry and Daniel, who drove nice automobiles and were dressed in hot looking clothes.

No one knew them who just a few days ago couldn't afford a hospital bill of half a million dollars has now amassed two billion dollars.

Despite the fact that Alex had completed difficult tasks successfully in the past.

He is the kind of person who gives everything in order to get the desired outcome. After tonight's meal, all families are required to kneel in front of Alex and show him respect.

When they learn how far Alex has gone, even his family's adversaries, the James and Smith families, who humiliated him earlier, will be taken aback.

The statement was made by Alex's father-in-law as soon as he saw them. Alex, what are you doing at this dinner? I look forward to having a glass of wine with you. Please don't leave out my all-time favorite recipe." Mary remarked to Alex "Don't say anything."

"A garbage, and a face to bear it all!"  Alex's mother-in-law law's sneered with disdain. Alex let out an internal sigh.

What do you think his mother-in-law would be like if he were to tell her that he is the one who got the Rocky City contract and now had $1.5 billion in his account when she has always looked down upon him?

He has gone unnoticed by the Smith family for many years, but it is difficult to predict how they will feel about him after tonight's lunch.

Keeping a low profile in the beginning is the most beneficial strategy.

As a result, e showed contrition by lowering his head and apologizing for his actions.

"I sincerely apologize, Mom, but I know the other day was difficult for you. I ask your pardon in this situation."

"You are more than an issue! You couldn't possibly be aware of the fact that you're an addict, can you?" Georgia Smith said, then she confronted Mary, yelling at her, "You need to be saved from this coward!"

Alex was aware that his teammates were waiting for him inside, but he didn't want them to witness how the Smith family embarrassed him. As a result, he determined that it would be better for him to wait outside until they entered.

When Henry and Vicky saw them, they immediately veered off in a different direction. "Hello, honorable Benjamin," Henry said, tugging his mustache in the conventional method.

"What business do you have in this dinner, Henry?" Alex inquired. Henry burst up laughing and made a statement.

"Daniel and I came all the way over here to celebrate Lioness Arts with the Mayor of Rocky City!!" He cried in response to his companion's question. "Our event here today is in honor of Lioness Arts. Do you get it?"

"They are the newest don in town, and we will need to communicate extensively with them in order to work well with them."  It will be beneficial not just to the Bull, but also to our family Smith in the long run." Henry said.

He was absolutely unaware that Alex was the proprietor of Lioness Arts.

Before starting, Alex made a cheerful grin." The mayor was in charge of organizing and hosting this event, which was held in honor of the Lioness Arts. It is critical that the team be made up of extraordinarily gifted individuals. They must have a fantastic temperament and be a capable leader to have achieved such a high level of accomplishment."

Henry stared down on Alex with contempt, and he couldn't help but feel a growing sense of unfairness fill up inside him.

Why would someone as wonderful as Mary waste her time getting married when there are so many other people, well, like himself.

No doubt that if it weren't for this useless man, he would be pursuing Mary frantically instead of Vicky, and he don't see how she could be engaged to someone as inadequate as Alex.

Henry was angered as he reflected about this, and with ill intent in his heart, he inquired, "What did brother-in-law come to the Dinner Ceremony to do?"

"We are her to commemorate Lioness Arts equally," Marry remarked casually.

With a sarcastic smile, he remarked, "How do you know Lioness Arts?"

Alex had a gloomy tone before saying, "What does the connection with the Lioness Arts have to do with you?"

"Better than you do." Henry said  in a dismissive tone, "If I were you, I would hide in the kitchen the whole time.At least washing dishes in the kitchen can earn you hundreds of dollars."
