His resolve

Leo stared at Kayden feeling all puzzled.

“What am I supposed to do? Why did my parents have to suffer the most out of all?”.

“If Uncle wanted the property and everything, he could just ask about it from Dad! What was the need to kill them?”.

Kayden lowered his gaze, frowning.

“Unfortunately, your dad also didn’t want to hand over the properties which were in his name.”

“But, why?”.

“Because your uncle had taken over your dad’s company and eventually kicked him out as the board of directors listened to your uncle.”

“That’s why, when he found out that your grandpa left everything in his name, he was escalated.”

“He thought, he was finally able to take revenge against your uncle for the company.”

“Still, even he didn’t expect that he would end up losing everything for this blessing which became a curse in disguise.”

Kayden clenched the photograph tightly in his hands.

“All because of the adult's wrong decision, we are….we are..”.

“All of us carry some regrets in our hearts all through our lives. But, don’t let it shape your future.” Kayden suggested.

“Instead of crying for spilled milk, do what’s necessary for you at the moment.”

“Take back what’s yours and also punish your uncle for his sins.”

“Then, maybe, your parents will be happy in heaven watching over you with a smile on their faces.”

Leo paused for a second, then continued, “Yes, I will take revenge.”

“But, not because I want the property.”

“Because I want to avenge my parents.”

“No matter what my dad has done, uncle didn’t have the right to take away their lives like that over petty jealousy.”

“You were quite lucky,” Kayden smiled softly.

“You survived the fatal accident.”

“But, the injury on your head made you forget about your memories from your past 5 years, so you have no recollection of it.”

“I forgot about everything,” Kayden grunted. “I always tried to forget the bad things that happened to me. Just because I didn’t want to face them.”

“I ran away. I always ran away from everything.”

Kayden patted his head.

“Just running isn’t going to help every single time.”

“So, sometimes you have to face your fears.”

“What should I do, Kayden?” Leo asked, raising his head.

“I have a plan. Do you want to hear me out?”.

Leo nodded with a determined face.

“I’ll do everything! Everything to avenge my parents!”.

“Good to hear that.”

After dropping Leo at the Heartfillia mansion he left in his car.

Leo headed towards their room. He checked the time on his hands, it was quite late an hour.

“Lucy must’ve fallen asleep already. Did she take her medicines?” he inquired.

While he was hurriedly walking up the stairs, he bumped into someone out of nowhere.

“Sorry,” Leo apologized, looking up to see who he bumped into.

“Are you blind?” someone remarks in a sharp tone.

Lucas stood in front of Leo with an irritated expression.

“Lucas…”.

Lucas grabbed him by his coat.

“Are you blind or what? Why did you bump into me?” he sneered, glaring at him.

Leo became puzzled.

“Let go of me, Lucas!” he retorted back, offended by his action.

“Apologize to me!” Lucas yelled. “You aren’t in any position to command me.”

Leo recalled the conversation he heard the other night.

His eyes narrowed. “How could these people do crimes in broad daylight and still talk as if they are somewhat superior or something?”.

“Didn’t you hear me?” Lucas yelled again. “Apologize to me!”.

Leo removed Lucas’s hand from his coat, pushing him away.

“I wasn’t the only one who bumped first,” he retorted.

“You should’ve also looked out. So, you should also apologize to me just like I apologized at first.”

Lucas’s eyes widened in shock.

“You are talking back at me?”.

“How dare-“.

“What’s happening in here?” Tom added, coming from the other direction.

He looked at Lucas and then glanced at Leonardo.

“What’s the matter?”.

“Nothing,” Leo replied, fixing his coat.

“It’s quite late. Goodnight.”

He walked away not wanting to continue the matter any further.

He could hear Lucas cursing behind his back.

When Leo stopped in front of the door to their room, he recalled Tom and Lucas’s faces and grew angry.

“They are just like my uncle.”

“Even though they didn’t manage to kill Ella, they did try to.”

“She’s privileged from birth, she still has to face things like me.”

He stepped inside and noticed that the light was still on.

Ella was sound asleep on the bed.

He approached her and went over to the side of the bed, and sat down next to hers.

He reached out his hand and caressed her cheeks.

They were warm, unlike his hands which were a bit cold.

“We are strangers with the same fate.”

“Ella, who does all the bad things that have to happen only to us?”.

“You were at the top of your family business, and that’s why they grew jealous of you and tried to eliminate you as you were going to inherit most of the property.”

“As Kayden said, jealousy is a petty thing.”

“It makes people blind.”

“Everyone has become blind to the power of money.”

“Just like my uncle.”

“But, we can’t do anything to bring them back to reality.”

“When Money had been the start of our problems, we are going to solve it using the power of money only.”

“I’ll do everything I can, to investigate the accident, and then also punish the people who tried to hurt you.”

“They have to pay for their crimes.”

“Just like my uncle.”

“I won’t forgive anyone who tries to take away the smile on your face.”

“No matter who it is.”

Ella moved in her sleep and faced in his direction.

He smiled and bent down to kiss her forehead.

“Goodnight, Ella. Sleep tight.”

The next morning, Leonardo got dressed up.

He wore a suit that Ella had given him after their marriage while standing in front of the mirror, he was brushing his hair.

Ella came from behind in her wheelchair peeked from behind and saw him getting ready.

“Are you going somewhere?”.

He glanced around to see Ella.

He nods awkwardly. “Yeah, to attend a party.”

She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

“You came late last night, and now you are telling me you are going to a party?”.

“Uh….the invitation came yesterday over the call, so I had no time to inform you about it.”

“Sorry about it.”

She lowered her eyes.

“Sorry to sound so demanding.”

“I was just curious, that’s all.”

“No, it’s completely okay to ask me about it. I have no problem,” he added, patting her shoulders.

She raised her face. “So, which party are you going to attend?”.

“Uh…a wedding, of an old friend of mine from the orphanage.”

“I see….”.

“Well, then…give them my blessings for their wonderful future as well.”

He nodded, feeling a bit guilty from the inside out. “Sure.”

He proceeded to leave within 10 minutes after getting a second call from someone.

He walked out of the gate and walked for a few minutes until a car came and stood right in front of him.

Kayden peeked out from the driver’s seat, smiling at Leo.

“Get in! We are late!”.

Leo nodded and took a seat inside the car as the car started driving away from the Heartfillia mansion.

“So, when’s the event starting?” Leo asked.

“By 11. It’s 10:30 right now. we’ll reach in 30 minutes.”

“Did you bring what I told you to bring?”.

Leo nods. “Yes.”

“Why did you ask me to bring the yearly picture book from the church with photos only of me?”.

Kayden smirked. “You’ll know about it soon.”
