Upon awakening from a lengthy dream, I was enveloped in a profound sense of rejuvenation. My body, once weary, now felt warm and light, reminiscent of basking in the embrace of a tranquil, revitalizing river. The sensation was so vivid, I could almost hear the gentle rush of water in my ears.

Upon awakening, a comforting warmth, accompanied by a feeling of human connection reminiscent of the first rays of dawn on a chilly winter morning, embraced both my right and left sides.

‘Someone is at my side.’

I opened my eyes and found Ava and Eva. They were using me as their bolster pillow, their peaceful faces inches from mine.

My gaze drifted to the ceiling of the supermarket, high above and dappled with intermittent light. Some bulbs offed, while others shone steadily, casting a chessboard of shadows and light across the expanse.
