Chapter 6. The bar

Liam couldn't believe what he heard again from his father!

Before he could say a word or reply, his father had vanished with the rest.

The mansion suddenly became lonely, and he exhaled, rubbing his face.

He took a seat, and his mind flew to everything that had happened today. It was all too fast and unbelievable.

Who would have imagined such a thing?

He checked the black golden card again and shook his head.

Later in the evening, Liam decided to show up at the party, which was going to take place at one of the biggest bar in the city.

There was no exotic car for him now, so he decided to take a cab to the party.

During the drive, he shut his eyes slightly, reminiscing about what his father said earlier. He couldn't just stop thinking about it.

1 million for a day at the party?!

How was he supposed to spend that?! He got unbalanced again and squeezed his face in discomfort. He just believed that was impossible, but he had to try because of the next thing coming for him.

Some minutes later, he got to the bar where the party was going to take place, and he alighted from the car. He even gave the cap driver a tip, before he walked away.

" Thank you!" The cap driver was excited, and he quickly thanked Liam.

Liam stepped into the bar, and his eyes traveled around.

The bar was still slightly quiet, but he realized his college mates were yet to arrive.

Using this free time, he decide to go and get a drink.

He went forward to meet the bartender and smiled slenderly. " Good day, please what is your most expensive drink here?" He asked.

The bartender, who was busy cleaning the drinks, turned to Liam and arched one of his brows. He whistled and placed down the whipper in his hands, before seizing Liam up and down.

He just glanced at him with a disgusted look but said nothing.

Just like that, he ignored Liam and focused back on what he was doing.

Liam didn't found this acceptable and appealing. He was not satisfied, and he squinted his eyes. He thought what the bartender did was annoying and disrespecting!

" I don't think that is a nice way to treat a customer." He expressed his mind gently and crossed his arms over his chest.

Hearing this, the bartender halted in his action, and he slowly lifted up his head, with an irritated look.

" I have other tasks to attend to. I will call my colleague to serve you if you really want to buy a wine." He uttered indifferently, and with this, he gestured for a timorous girl to come forward.

" Hey Sarah, he wants to buy a wine. So serve him." He ordered and hissed.

The timid looking girl, Sarah, quickly ran forward to meet the first bartender, as she didn't want to get on the bad side of him.

" Okay sir." Sarah inclined her head and nodded in a respectful manner.

It was evident the shy and fearful girl was a newbie in the business.

Then afterwards, the impolite bartender walked away.

At this time, another waiter was just coming towards the impolite bartender, and he saw what just happened.

" What is going on?" The other waiter asked curiously.

The impolite bartender sneered and faced the other waiter. " It's about the mediocre man who is over there. Just look at him, his cloth is so shabby to the extent it blended with his body, and it reflected nothing but extreme poverty! He told me he want to buy an expensive wine, which I know he can't afford. He is only here to ask and nothing more. It will be a waste of time to serve him." He replied, snorting derisively.

The other waiter was astonished, and he raised his brows. " Are you for real? How do you know he can't afford it?"

The bartender laughed and pointed to Liam. " This? Isn't it obvious? He can't even afford a better cloth, so how can he afford the most expensive wine in this bar?"

The other waiter reasoned what he just said and nodded, chiming, " I agree with you. People like this are just here to brag about what they don't have and behave as if they are capable. I wonder what kind of life is that? If you are wealthy, you should let people know. Show the obvious and don't try to cover the glory. I mean who does that?"

" Yes. You are right, but some people just like to pretend, living a fake fucked life! It is obvious, they are drenched in poverty! In fact, I can smell poverty from them! Such people like this don't even deserve to talk or step into a place like this, cause it is not meant for them!"

Both of them coinciding, backbiting and mocking Liam at the same time.

They didn't care if he could hear them or not. To them, they believed Liam was incapable and wouldn't do anything to them.

At the same time, Liam turned his head away in shame. He overheard what the bartender discussed about him, and he became crestfallen. But he didn't say anything, only drowning in his hurtful thoughts.

" Sir, please.... wha...t can I.... offer you?" Sarah asked Liam, when she noticed the latter didn't say anything.

Startled, Liam raised his head and looked at the girl.

" Oh, uhm sorry." He apologized and scratched his head. " How much is your most expensive drink?"

He thought this was the perfect way to spend all the 1 million this evening.

Sarah was stunned to hear this, and she glanced back. She hesitated first, before responding to Liam, " The most expensive drink here is worth 10 thousand dollars."

" Give me 100 bottles." Liam ordered as he immediately calculated the price in his head, with a serious look.

" Sir?" Sarah widened her eyes, not expecting to hear this and narrowed her ears.

Even the bartender wasn't left out, and he instantly snapped his head towards Liam, thinking maybe he didn't hear him right.....
