Chapter 2

With that, Lucy turned around and walked out leaving him in the silent room, just before she had left she glanced at him and he caught a glimpse of her reddened eyes and tears that flowed down her, one he hadn't expected to see….tears.

His chest felt tight and he had the urge to run to her and engulf her in his arms but it took everything within himself to hold back because she was disappointed in him, the three years he had spent with her never had she cried in front of him and seeing her now made his heartache.

Michael sighed, he felt pain in his chest. Perhaps, he could do the last favor for her, as…a farewell gift.

Gathered his clothes and put them on immediately, then grabbed his phone and dialed a number.

"Hello sir Mr Montreal, it's been a while since you called…. Is there a reason for that sir?" A lady finally answered the line with a respectful tone.

"Good day, Karina I need you to help me get some information regarding Latiel's holdings.."

"If I may ask sir, is he causing you any trouble?" Karina, curious asked him.

"Not me, but my…” Michael paused hesitantly. "my ex-wife."

"I see. Ok, I'll attend to the situation as soon as possible but sir I do need a favor from you." She implored and her once calm voice had become tense, Michael couldn't help but notice the change and tilted his brows wondering what she wanted.

"A favor? What is it then?" He inquired tapping his foot in an odd rhythm. "Go on and say it."

"My grandfather is seriously ill…. Could you treat him?" She pleaded, her voice was evident with the emergency and at the same time worried even though she tried not to show it.

Michael thought about it for a while before replying to her.

"As for the info you initially requested, I have a tip right now," Karina added.

A smile curved on Michael's lips, happy that he was a step forward to his goal.

"Sure, there's no problem…. It's something I can handle." He assured her, Karina leaped in joy forgetting about acting curtly and hearing that he was going to help her.

"Thank you so much, sir." She beamed before he ended the call, a smile still evident on his lips as he stared at his foot, this was just the beginning of a comeback, he was going to teach Alec a lesson.

Michael was finally going to leave the shadows he had been hiding for three years and do the needful, it was time to take back his position and trample in those who dared to toy with him.

Michael shoved his phone into his pocket and walked out of the room passing the hotel's corridor and out of the building, he thought about ordering an Uber but changed his mind knowing that his account would probably not be able to access the account Lucy had opened for him.

He was about to order a taxi but something caught his eye… It was his mother-in-law talking with a young lady that seemed somewhat familiar. That's when he recalled that it was the lady that was in the room with him.

A frown curved on his lips, he clenched his jaws staring at her in anger, he watched her hand the lady some money which infuriated him even more, he was even more that his mother-in-law had intentionally wanted him to divorce Lucy because of her resentment she had poured against him.

"Why now of all times?" He frowned, making his way towards her his fists curled in anger, every step he took felt heavy and his jaw clenched in anger.

"You did have to stoop so low just to get this done?" He asked in a cold voice, causing her to snap her head towards him, she was shocked that he had caught her but immediately calmed down as she didn't want to reveal her mask although he could tell already.

She asked the lady to leave and turned to face Michael.

"Wh-what nonsense are you saying?" She stuttered, staring at him in anger.

He could tell she was nervous with the movement of her body and that was more proof of what she had done.

"You're the one who slept with a whore and now you want to blame me? How much more stupid can you be?" She snapped at him looking around nervously. "No mother would see it fit to accept a man like you to be with her precious daughter."

"Precious?" He laughed. "The point of view that I see is that you are too materialistic and want her to get a rich man."

"Of course! You're pulling my daughter back when she is supposed to step up." Alice queried him. "She has missed a lot of opportunities just because she's with you!" She slammed her fist on his chest but he was fazed by it since he had a muscular build.

"You crumble others just to rise… quite disturbing I must say." Michale resisted the urge to laugh in her face because of how stupid her words seemed.

"You should know where you belong… that is the lowest of all social status." She smiled with a sadistic gaze on her face. "You're like a stray dog being tossed away since there is no use for you anymore so deal with that and scramble along."

"I feel pity for your daughter to have such a greedy and selfish mother like you." Michael gazed at his ex-mother-in-law and sneered.

"Pity?" She scoffed. "You should feel pity on yourself because you're anybody now." She spat.

"At least I have limits to idiocy but you?" He chuckled, staring right into her eyes in an intimidating manner.

"Don't you dare speak to me that way…. You low-life brat!" She raised her hand aiming at his face but he was quick to know what she was about to do and held her hand, stopping it mid-air. Her eyes widened in shock.

"What do you think you're trying to do?" Her eyes widened as she gazed at him in both fear and fury, she tried yanking her hands away but he held them even firmer not caring if it was going to bruise.

"Let go of me you low-life pig!" She yelled at him but he still held her wrist squeezing it tighter making her groan in pain, it was evident that her hands were going to bruise but Michael didn't seem to care.

"Help… someone help me, this man is trying to kill me!"
