Chapter 3

"Security!" She yelled beckoning the men over and they briskly made their way to them with concerned expressions on their faces.

"What seems to be the problem here?" One of them asked, staring at Michael still holding his mother-in-law's wrist firmly but slowly letting go of her and facing the men with a blank face.

"This man…." Alice began to feign crying. "He cheated on my daughter and now he's threatening to beat me up, how utterly disgusting!"

Michael slowly looked at her and he could see an evil smirk at the corner of her lips. He knew this was what she wanted all along, she had found the perfect spot to disgrace him to her heart's desire.

"If only… I knew you were this kind of person, I wouldn't have let you marry my daughter." She burst out crying and brought out a white hanky to dry the tears that never came out of her eyes. "Curse the day you were born because you would never find another woman like my daughter.

"Oh my goodness, how could he be so brave to do something utterly disgusting." Some bystanders commented while watching the scenery.

"How dare he be so brave to do something that disgusting in public."

"Young men these days do spoil and grow up to be a menace in society."

"I can't believe this is happening right in front of me." Another said.

"I'm glad that her daughter divorced such a heartless cheater… although he's good-looking, he has a really bad character." Another commented.

"The old lady must be quite scared, I hope he's found for what he did."

"Just look at how he's making the old lady cry."

"My daughter provides everything for him regardless of his broke state and yet he dared to treat her that way!" Alice yanked him by the collar and pushed him back causing him to stagger backwards.

"What do you want us to do, ma’am?." One of the security personnel asked.

"Let him kneel before me and apologize for what he has done." Alice smiled cunningly as she stared Michael up and down.

"Don’t go too far. You’ve done enough" Michael said coldly.

"Done enough? Oh, now you feel you lost your pride?" She burst out in laughter. "You shouldn't have bit the hands that fed you, that way you would still be able to get scraps off the table."

His eyes darkened and his lips pursed while gazing at her angrily.

"Say that again."

Alice took a step back from him with a frightened gaze, she hadn't expected him to look so intimidating to the point her feet went cold.

"What do you think you're doing?" She turned to the security men and pointed at Michael. "Beat this lunatic up before he does something crazy to me!"

Just when they were about to carry out her request a black BMW pulled up gaining the attention of everyone, Alice squinted her eyes to see who it was but could barely see anything since it was a tinted window.

Several men came out of the car and vowed their heads in respect to Michael causing an uproar in the little crowd that had formed but to Michael, it was nothing as he was more bothered as to who had sent them.

"What do you have with this criminal? Is it one of his many more flirts?" Alice asked loudly in a mocking tone. "Or… have you resorted to satisfying the pleasures of rich women…. How utterly disgusting!"

She spat however he remained silent and unfazed while staring at the men who had approached him. They were all dressed in suits with dark shades on and nicely shaved.

That was when it all clicked, realizing who had sent these men.

"What do you think you're doing? We're not done here." The security men butted in while eyeing the men suspiciously. "What do you want here?"

"Oh, sorry about that, we didn't mean to be rude but our madam asked us to take him with us." One of the men who seemed to be the leader of the others spoke to the security men, he turned to face Michael and with another bow he said.

"Miss Karina Rodriguez asked to pick you up."

"Karina… Rodriguez?" Alice gasped with her hands over her lips.

The security men took a step back from them when they heard the name and they didn't dare do anything but stare as they made their way to Michael.

"Karina? Is it the rich one I know or just a normal person?" A bystander gossiped with her friend.

"From the luxurious car, I can tell it is the Karina Rodriguez you know." Her friend clamored.

"How could he know a woman of such high value?" A bystander mumbled but it was still loud enough to be heard.

Michael didn't say anything and nodded at the men in response, he got into the car and sped off leaving the rest of the people fazed most especially Alice who was in utter disbelief that Michael would know someone that wealthy.

"Could it be that he hired those men to trick me using her name just to get away?" Alice wondered as she paced around nervously, it took everything within her not to believe what just happened.

The little crowd soon dissipated as though nothing ever happened and she was left alone. She took out her phone from her purse and proceeded to call her daughter who picked up after the second dial. Alice was more than happy that she picked getting ready to tell her daughter what happened.

"Hey Mom, I'm not in the mood for calls," Lucy whined, her voice sounded coarse and the least she needed was to be bothered unnecessarily.

"You won't believe what I'm about to tell you." Alice huffed. "How utterly annoying," Alice whined to Lucy who seemed tired of her already from the sigh she made at the other end of the line.

"What happened Mother, just go straight to the point." Lucy rolled her eyes annoyed that her mother seemed to be overreacting over a small issue she shouldn't even be bothered about.

"Well, you had better-done something about it when I tell you… my goodness!" Alice sighed annoyed by how unfazed Lucy seemed to be.

"Say what the problem is Mother and stop overreacting already." Lucy sounded annoyed already and wanted nothing more than to end the call that instant.

"That lunatic ex-husband of yours tried to beat me up." Alice spat with her feet on the floor like a toddler about to throw a tantrum. She flipped her hair back and clutched her purse tighter.

"What?"
