Chapter Fifty Nine

The dense forest seemed to close in around them as Kayla, Sarah, Margie, and Mandy, their breaths ragged in gasps as they fled from the relentless pursuit of Walker's men pushed forward, their footsteps muffled by the thick carpet of fallen leaves.

Their hearts raced, fueled by fear and adrenaline.

“Oh my God, they’re closing in on us again!” Mandy’s voice trembled as she glanced over her shoulder.

Her eyes widened, and her voice filled with fear as she stumbled over a protruding root. Kayla reached out and grabbed her daughter's hand, pulling her close as they continued to run.

The four women sprinted deeper into the woods, their lungs burning, branches clawing at their skin.

"We have to keep going," Kayla urged, her heart pounding in her chest as they raced through the forest. "We can't let them catch us."

But no matter how fast they ran, they couldn't seem to shake their pursuers.
