Chapter 9

At a restaurant not far from Ana's grandmother's house, at one of the tables, two people were having a serious discussion and even the drinks that had been served had not been touched since earlier.

“There's no way this could happen. Could it be that Grandma Ana has brainwashed Kenneth?" Arthur asked suspiciously.

"Watch your mouth, I can't do it!" Ana's grandmother refused.

 "Certain?" Grandma Ana glared.

"I'm annoyed with Mr. Jason for abandoning Kenneth but I won't make them stay away from each other so don't think badly," concluded Grandma Ana.

"I will convey this matter to Mr. Jason." Arthur took a deep breath.

Grandma Ana immediately went home after explaining Kenneth's reaction to Richard, who was supposed to be his family, hoping that Mr. Jason would intervene to solve the problem himself.

"Where are you from, Grandma?" asked Kenneth, already standing near the door.

"Why haven't you fallen asleep yet?" Kenneth turned his face to look at the clock on the wall.

"It's not time yet and today Mr. Arthur wasn't on campus, was he fired because of Luke's helping me?" Grandma Ana tried to remember what happened yesterday, but it felt like it wasn't because of that.

"Wait! Are there still delinquent kids bothering you today?” Kenneth shook his head.

"There is something strange. "I saw Luke preventing Alex from hitting me," explained Kenneth.

"Arthur must have told campus officials that you are a member of the Richard family." Grandma Ana held Kenneth's arm and smiled.

Kenneth couldn't accept this fact yet, he ignored his grandmother's touch slowly, then walked like a turtle as if he had run out of energy and went back to his room and locked himself away. Suddenly the cell phone in his pocket rang with a call from Leon.

"Hello Leon?" Kenneth hurriedly opened the door again and saw his grandmother frozen in front of the room.

"I want to go meet Leon," he explained.

"It's okay if you want to go but please listen to grandma's explanation about your family." Before Ana's grandmother could finish her sentence, Kenneth immediately lit up.

"I'm in a hurry because Leon is waiting for me in the park." Ana's grandmother was forced to make way.

"Be careful!" said grandmother Ana. Arriving at the park, Kenneth saw his friend sitting down and finishing a packet of food.

“Why rush me here?” asked Kenneth, surprised.

"It turns out that Luke and Alex didn't hit you because you were the missing son of the Richard family," Leon explained after putting down his food.

"How do you know?" Kenneth asked, pretending not to believe it.

"Elena told the kids in class after we left," Leon answered, feeling happy to have a friend like Kenneth who turned out to be a descendant of a conglomerate.

"It's just Elena's words and there's no proof," concluded Kenneth and sat down next to Leon.

"It's not like Grandma Ana ever said that you were related to Richard's family." Leon curiously looked seriously at Kenneth.

"That's just his imagination," said Kenneth, lying because his heart was reluctant to accept that reality.

For several days of living on campus, Kenneth didn't find the slightest trace of anything. Arthur felt strange trying to find out that the lecturer had stopped working. We accidentally met after college while walking alone on a quiet side street.

"I thought you were a brat who was going to bother me," said Kenneth, seeing a mysterious person standing upright blocking his path.

"No one would dare disturb the only descendant of the Richard family except Aldrich and I don't think that person knows about your existence," explained Arthur.

"I forgot who Aldrich and Richard are." Kenneth shrugged his shoulders as if he had amnesia from all those important names.

"Certain? "Let's talk seriously. There is an important message from your father that I want to convey." Arthur invited Kenneth into his car to go to the most famous classic style restaurant in the city.

"You haven't used the money in your account, which really bothers Mrs. Clarissa," said Arthur when he arrived at the restaurant and sat at the same table with Kenneth.

"Who is Mrs. Clarissa telling the lady that I won't use any of her money," explained Kenneth in an indifferent tone, his face didn't even look at the person he was talking to at all.

"Mrs. Clarissa is the woman who has been pregnant with you for nine months, Kenneth, so speak politely about her." Kenneth became uncomfortable and surprised to find out that he had a mother.

Suddenly his fingers grasped at the thought of a mother's love and touch, but Kenneth immediately pushed the thought away.

"I don't know," answered Kenneth, sounding weak.

"This is from your father. You can use it without fear of running out of money." Arthur gave him a black card.

"I don't want to." Kenneth pushed his card towards Arthur again.

"Don't be a fool, Kenneth, improve your quality and immediately return home because Mrs. Clarissa really misses her child." Arthur gave him a sharp look indicating that his request this time could not be refused.

"Why does Mrs. Clarissa miss her child now?" Kenneth asked.

 "Call Mrs. Clarissa," Arthur shouted.

“I won't call her mother!” Arthur became emotional and immediately grabbed Kenneth by the collar, causing the young man to be pulled onto the table, making the restaurant visitors pay attention.

"Don't be a disobedient child. "Open your heart to your mother, imagine how she would feel having to be separated from her baby as a child for eighteen years," said Arthur excitedly.

"But they have the heart to let me live hard, suffer and lack money." Arthur realized they were the center of attention and released his grip.

"That's Mr. Jason's way of training him to have a good mentality, not to be a child who likes to go on sprees and take advantage of his parents' power," explained Arthur, more patiently.

"I couldn't possibly do that," said Kenneth confidently.

"I'm not convinced that almost ninety-nine percent of the rich friends in your class like to bully the weak, except for Leon who wants to be friends with you." Kenneth finally ran out of words to defend himself then took his drink and drank until it was finished.

"I need time to accept the painful reality that my family never visits me at all." Kenneth lowered his face trying to hide the tears that wanted to drip.

The days passed so quickly that news about the Richard family who had been hiding their heir son had circulated in local online newspapers, even though most were convinced that the child was Kenneth, even Elena wanted to approach him, making the atmosphere in the class even more terrifying.

"Stop approaching me, Elena," asked Kenneth and then moved to sit on another bench.

"Does he like the same sex, why does he always run away every time I approach him?" Elena was annoyed to see Kenneth ignoring her.

Leon and Alex could only watch in silence while holding back the irritation that was mounting and ready to explode at Kenneth.

"When can I hit him again his face isn't even fit to be a rich kid," mocked Alex.

“That's right. "Jason Richard's family has also not held a press conference regarding the rumors," added Luke.

A luxury car was parked in the campus yard, causing all eyes to look at it with admiration, wondering who the owner was, who was definitely not just anyone.

Jason got out of the car, as the biggest contributor to campus funds, many lecturers welcomed his arrival and gave him umbrellas so he could walk into the building comfortably without being hit by the hot sun.

"Call my son who is in class. I need him now because I don't have much time," answered Jason.
