Chapter 8

"We're talking about the Richard family's big enemy, Aldrich," answered grandmother Ana.

"I don't know that name." Kenneth shook his head.

"Then what are the names of Luke and Alex's parents who are campus donors?" asked Arthur.

"No one knows his father's name. I have only heard rumors and the campus supports that Luke and Alex have a big influence as the highest financial contributors," explained Kenneth.

"If his name is kept secret, it would be strange," thought Arthur silently. Kenneth waited for an explanation but everyone seemed silent and busy with their own thoughts.

"So why do Grandma Ana and Mr. Arthur look so Arab?" Kenneth asked again, his face looked very curious.

"Didn't grandma tell you that if you have a relationship with the Richard family, that means stay away from anyone connected with the name Aldrich," explained Grandma Ana.

Arthur looked confused at Grandma Ana because he heard her explanation so openly even though he didn't even have the courage to tell Kenneth who he really was.

"You must be confused about why I said that to Kenneth," said grandmother Ana, meeting Arthur's gaze.

"Why?" Arthur and Kenneth were both looking at Grandma Ana now.

"Because I'm tired of seeing Kenneth come home with a battered face. I want Mr. Jason to immediately pick him up and make an announcement that his son is back!” Kenneth opened his mouth and found it difficult to speak, too shocked by what he had just heard.

"It's not time yet, Grandma Ana." Arthur shook his head. Kenneth suddenly felt his knees buckle and began to lose his balance so Arthur caught his body before it fell to the floor.

"What happened Kenneth?" Arthur asked, feeling worried. Grandma Ana also approached Kenneth and asked him to sit quietly in a chair.

"I can't believe something like this could happen in my life," said Kenneth from the bottom of his heart. Grandma Ana could see the disappointed look on Kenneth's face, feeling hurt because his life had been difficult all this time.

"Just leave me alone and pretend there is no relationship between us, Mr Arthur." Kenneth tried to get up and walk to the room, leaving Arthur with grandmother Ana in the living room.

"This is all because Ana's grandmother was too quick to tell her that if it was like this I would have difficulty looking after her on campus," scolded Arthur.

"Just do your job properly," added Grandma Ana, not wanting to be outdone.

In the morning, it's the right time to help Kenneth with breakfast before going to campus, as usual it's not too cold.

"Eat your fill Kenneth." Kenneth accepted the bread.

"Yes grandma!" Grandma Ana smiled when she saw that Kenneth wasn't acting cold anymore like last night, maybe now his feelings were back to normal.

“I don't care about Aldric or Richard anymore, Grandma. I've decided to forget them," said Kenneth suddenly.

"Why do you say that?" Kenneth immediately finished his bread.

"Because they are useless," answered Kenneth firmly.

"It means?" asked grandmother Ana, confused, wanting to prevent Kenneth from leaving, who seemed to be in a hurry but failed.

Kenneth went to campus, deciding to forget everything about Richard and Aldrich, that after this he would have more problems from Luke and Alex, he would solve them himself without Arthur's help.

"So Kenneth is a member of the Richard family, then why has he been allowed to live in misery all this time?" asked one of the campus officials to Arthur.

“Because his identity must be hidden. "I hope that after this he will get special attention from other lecturers," said Arthur seriously.

"Then what reward will the campus receive?" Arthur looked serious.

"How about a financial contribution that is double what Alex and Luke's parents gave?" Arthur saw his interlocutor smile and waved for a shake.

"Agree." Kenneth had arrived on campus and several lecturers who passed him greeted him politely with a smile.

"What's wrong with the lecturers, why are they acting so sweet?" asked Kenneth, confused.

Kenneth continued walking to class, there was a trio of bullies who just stared intently without touching or making fun of him at all from the moment they met until the end of class.

"Mr. Arthur isn't here, why don't you bother me?" Kenneth asked Alex. Alex thought Kenneth was acting stupid, almost flying his hand into a glance at Kenneth's face, but Luke managed to stop him.

"Don't remember, Alex, that the chairman of the foundation said he came to this class this morning not to disturb Kenneth or we will be reported to the police," explained Luke.

“How did you do it Kenneth?” Alex asked loudly.

"Do what?" Kenneth raised his hands in ignorance.

“Everyone is threatening us to leave you alone.” Hearing that, Leon stood beside Kenneth.

"That's good so Kenneth can go to college in peace now," interrupted Leon in defense of his friend.

"Let's go home Leon!" said Kenneth, quickly grabbing his friend's hand.

"What really happened?" Leon asked when they were in a comfortable place to talk about everything.

"I don't know either and since then Mr. Arthur hasn't been seen on campus," added Kenneth.

"Maybe he's on leave," Leon guessed.

"Maybe," answered Kenneth, suddenly his cell phone rang and a notification came in. Kenneth opened the incoming message on his cell phone and his eyes widened in disbelief because there was a report of a large amount of money entering his account.

 "What's this?" Kenneth was shocked.

"What's wrong Kenneth?" Leon asked, seeing his friend's reaction after reading the message on his cell phone just now.

"Nothing," answered Kenneth, shaking his head from right to left like someone in a daze.

"If there's nothing wrong, why is your face so strange?" Kenneth packed up his cell phone and put it back in his bag.

"Nothing happened, it's better to continue our conversation earlier?" Kenneth asked, changing the topic of conversation. Kenneth couldn't wait to go home to his grandmother and asked why his savings account had such a fantastic nominal amount.

"Maybe it was a gift from Mr Jason, your father Kenneth," answered Grandma Ana.

"Tell Mr. Jason to take the money back because I don't need it," concluded Kenneth and immediately walked away.

"But Kenneth, it's time for you to return to the Richard family!" shouted Grandma Ana.

"I do not want to. "I want to live with grandmother Ana," replied Kenneth. Grandma Ana froze in place, not expecting Kenneth's response to be like this.

"I have to tell the child something." Ana's grandmother chased Kenneth into the room, but the door was closed when he tried to enter and it turned out to be locked.

"You should be happy because you will meet Mr. Jason and be recognized as a member of the Richard family after eighteen years, Kenneth," persuaded grandmother Ana. Kenneth, who was in the room silently looking at the amount of his savings displayed on the cellphone screen, should have been happy because he had a lot of money, but instead it felt the opposite.
