Chapter 7

Arthur headed to the campus archives because many of the lecturers were not in this afternoon, leaving him free to look for information about Luke and Alex. Don't forget to keep the two brothers busy in the library so there won't be time to disturb Kenneth during this break.

“Here we meet!” Arthur stopped the movement of his hands, sorting the files one by one. Alex and Luke's complete data has been found and immediately took the picture and sent it to Jason.

Since then, Kenneth has been waiting patiently for Arthur until the last class on campus is over.

"Can we talk for a moment sir?" Kenneth asked as he approached Arthur towards him.

 "Please Kenneth," replied Arthur happily.

"Why have you been paying too much attention to me all this time?" he asked directly.

"Of course I care because you are my student," replied Arthur firmly, looking sharply at Kenneth in front of him.

"Only that?" Kenneth asked with emphasis.

"Yes." Kenneth swallowed, feeling disappointed because of the answer Arthur gave him.

"Why did Grandma Ana lie?" Kenneth asked himself, his hands clenched into fists in annoyance because he believed too much in his grandmother's unreasonable words. Arthur suddenly felt anxious seeing the situation and the look on Kenneth's face.

"What is it? Did something happen or did I say something wrong?” Arthur asked while holding Kenneth's arm.

"Let me go?!" Kenneth got rid of his lecturer's touch very quickly and roughly.

"You must be tired then come with me for lunch and drink cold fruit juice and then I'll take you home!" asked Arthur.

"No! I can go home alone and have a good afternoon," said Kenneth firmly then turned around, leaving Arthur alone. Arthur saw Kenneth's fingers clenched into fists holding back his emotional desire and walked quickly away from him without turning his head even once.

"What's wrong with that kid? Hasn't he been obeying me these past few days?" confused Arthur.

Luke and Alex had followed Kenneth, waiting for the right time to play the afternoon drama which would be as hot as the sun.

"I'll stop Arthur, you take care of Kenneth!" Alex ordered to divide the tasks with his brother.

 "Okay," answered Luke.

Luke brought his friend to block Arthur, who was secretly following Kenneth. The two brothers for several days watched Arthur's movements, who seemed to be guarding Kenneth from a distance, always appearing at the right time as a hero for him.

"Why does Mr. Arthur walk home?" Luke asked while playing with the wooden block in his hand.

"Because I want to go somewhere without using my car," Arthur answered, looking at Luke who was threatening him.

"Not because you want to look after Kenneth?" Arthur realized that traces of his young master were gone.

"What do you want?" asked Arthur.

Kenneth walked without suspecting that he was being followed by Alex and his friend, grumbling and scolding Grandma Ana and regretting his courage to ask Arthur about the proper attention given by lecturers to their students.

"I shouldn't have been rude to Mr. Arthur just because I was disappointed that his presence had nothing to do with the Richard family, this makes me embarrassed," said Kenneth while kicking small stones scattered on the road.

Suddenly, mysteriously, small stones came hitting his feet. Kenneth suddenly looked up and saw Alex.

 “Alex?” he said, gaping.

"For the past few days my fingers have felt stiff due to lack of exercise in punching other people's cheeks," said Alex, making an evil smile as he got closer to Kenneth.

Kenneth felt scared as if he was being approached by the angel of death who was ready to take his life. He saw his legs shaking and wanting to escape, but it was too late, his path was now surrounded.

"Why is the substitute lecturer so nice to you, Kenneth? "I even had a hard time torturing you as a poor lowly student," mocked Alex.

"You even dared to hit me until I passed out," added Alex and then punched Kenneth in the face until he fell to the ground. Kenneth hissed in pain, the corners of his lips leaking fresh blood from his jaw like a high-voltage electric shock that could not be avoided.

“I like giving you extra lessons like now.” Alex cruelly ordered his friend to hold Kenneth's body so he couldn't move.

“Luke said he wanted to hit your leg with a baseball bat. I'll do it now.'' Alex swung his wand aiming at Kenneth's shaking legs.

"My history is finished," thought Kenneth, closing his eyes in fear, feeling that his fate was hanging in the balance.

“Stop it!” shouted Arthur suddenly appearing with wounds all over his face.

"You?! Didn't Luke beat you up?" Alex was shocked to think that his brother had beaten Arthur up.

"I'm not that weak," Arthur defended.

"Stop where you are or I will ask my father to revoke your job at campus," he threatened, but Arthur just smiled at Alex's threat just now.

"Stupid brat. I am not afraid." Arthur then beats Alex's friends brutally and without mercy. Alex was very surprised to see Arthur's extraordinary martial arts skills. So quickly his men were defeated.

"This is impossible?" Alex saw Arthur fighting until he hit his head, releasing red liquid, but instead of fainting, his lecturer opened his eyes even wider and attacked again.

"Mr Arthur, that's enough! Stop it! Can you finish them?!” Kenneth shouted seeing his lecturer's back getting hit hard.

“You poor useless man! "You should be the one who is battered, not Mr. Arthur," cursed Alex.

“Stop it! Just hit me, Alex.'' Kenneth stood in front of Alex. The situation became increasingly difficult, Alex became bored and annoyed and just left his friend who was in pain.

"The game isn't over yet, I will forever make that poor loser suffer," whispered Alex. Kenneth helps Arthur take him home so grandma Ana can tend to his cuts and bruises.

"Sick! "Please treat it slowly," complained Arthur when Grandma Ana touched a cold towel to the bruises on his face.

"Don't shout if you're noisy, I'll have a hard time treating your wound," asked Grandma Ana

Kenneth saw that the closeness between Ana Deng Arthur's grandmother looked strange and made him suspicious

"Why does Grandma Ana act like she's known Mr. Arthur for a long time?" Kenneth thought to himself.

"Next time you call for help, don't fight it yourself," said grandmother Ana as if she was scolding her granddaughter.

"I can handle it myself. Yes, just let me go to the hospital, don't treat me." Suddenly, Ana's grandmother gave her a disapproving look.

"Don't be a hero who oversleep, the strength of these children is beyond your predictions. Can you imagine how mentally Kenneth must have had problems with them all this time?" Arthur was silent, remembering something he found this morning.

“The losers are Alex and Luke. Does grandma know their father's name?” asked Arthur.

"I don't know," answered Grandma Ana curtly.

"I saw Aldrich's name in the student data?" Grandma Ana was shocked until her movements stopped and looked seriously at Arthur.

"You mean Aldrich actually knows where Kenneth is?" Grandma Ana's voice sounded shaky.

"I don't know, everything is hard to predict," Arthur answered softly.

"What are Grandma and Mr. Arthur talking about?" Kenneth asked, coming out of his hiding place feeling curious.
