7. Disastrous Party

Chapter Seven

“Whoa, this is some party” Elijah whispered when he saw the splendor of the party while walking towards Selena, his sudden bride that he doesn’t know anything about.

The ballroom of the party shimmered with cascades of crystal chandeliers, casting a soft, ethereal glow upon the elite attendees. It was a grand affair, a party hosted by the renowned Grandfather Clinton in order to attract more people for his Presidential seat political campaign.

The room buzzed with laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses, yet amidst the vibrant crowd, one figure stood out despite his old and battered suit, the young man named Elijah has an alpha male and charismatic aura that makes people keep glancing at him besides he is not a popular person in the business society.

Elijah navigated through the sea of elegantly attired guests with a sense of purpose. His eyes, as blue as the deep ocean, scanned the room until they came to rest on a breathtaking sight who kept moving around like a perfect hostess.

Selena was looking elegant in her beauty and grace. She wore a shimmering gown of ivory silk that cascaded around her like a celestial waterfall, accentuating her every move.

Selena possessed an allure that was impossible to ignore. Her raven locks were arranged meticulously into an intricate updo, revealing the gentle curve of her neck. Her eyes, the color of emerald, sparkled with intelligence and mystery, drawing Elijah ‘s gaze like a moth to a flame. Her lips, painted a luscious shade of ruby, curved into a subtle smile that hinted at both confidence and warmth.

As Elijah observed her from afar, he marveled at the young lady's poise and elegance, he also noticed that she is way more pretty than his ex-girlfriend who cheated on him with his step brother. Selena conversed effortlessly with those around her, her gestures graceful and refined.

Every movement she made seemed like a dance, as if she were in perfect harmony with the melodies flowing from the grand piano in the corner of the room.

Elijah couldn't help but be enchanted by her presence even though he knows that she is way out of her league and he can only talk to her because of the scandal.

Elijah got curious and he said wanted to know more about this enigmatic woman who had captivated his heart in an instant. Slowly, he made his way through the crowd, his steps measured and deliberate, until he found himself standing only a few feet away from her.

From this close vantage point, Elijah could see the delicate details of her gown—the intricate beadwork that adorned the bodice, the elegant embroidery that trailed along the hem. It was a masterpiece, much like the woman who wore it. The fabric seemed to caress her every curve, hinting at a beauty that transcended the mere surface.

Lost in his thought, Elijah was momentarily startled when Selena gaze met him and she stopped smiling, she looked all angry all of a sudden . Her emerald eyes locked with his own, and for a fleeting moment, time stood still.

“Hi” Elijah said curtly but Selena ignored him and kept talking to the people around her which made Elijah feel uncomfortable.

“What the fuck are you doing here ?” Elijah turned around when he heard a rude voice talking to him.

“It’s none of your business “ Elijah said when he saw that it was his step brother Henry wearing an expensive designer tuxedo that cost about 30,000 dollars apart from his wrist watch and watch.

“It’s my business because what is a poor man like you doing in a luxurious party or are you here to serve as a waiter ? Even though your suit looks like it was brought out from the mouth of a mad dog “ Henry snickered arrogantly which made some people around start looking at Elijah as if he is some kind of trash.

And to make matters worse Selena kept pretending as if she doesn’t know Elijah since the news of her forced marriage with the poor stranger is not yet out, only her grandfather and younger sister Nicki knows about it.

“Stop insulting me using a mad dog as an example because I won’t let it go, remember how badly I beat you the last time in your house ?” Elijah said angrily but Henry only smirked more

“If you speak anyhow to me , I will call the bodyguards to throw you out. People like you are spoiling the atmosphere of the party “ Henry said, he was clearly enjoying what he was doing. Elijah also noticed that the womanizer Henry came with a different girl and not Stella but he didn’t comment because it’s not his business.

Elijah tried turning around to talk to Selena because he is the reason she came to the party and he wants to leave already. He doesn’t feel like staying at the party anymore but Henry said something that made Elijah’s heart boil with anger.

“It looks like you wanted your mother dead, why are you out partying when she died yesterday, we are all relieved that you packed your stuff and left the house , now I am happy because you won’t be around to steal my money and position as the heir of the WILLIAM's FAMILY. '' Henry shouted rudely.

“Darn it, I’m going to kill you!” Elijah shouted while trying to attack Henry by grabbing him by the collar but before he could do that, they heard a lady’s loud piercing voice.

“Stop it right now ! How dare you both come to my grandfather’s party and create a scene Huh!” A lady dressed in black suit and expensive red buttons builition high heel shoes with her matching limited edition bag.

Both Henry and Elijah turned around to look at her , the lady caught Selena‘s attention too.

When Selena saw that it was her dramatic and evil scheming sister Nicki, she quickly ran to Elijah and tried dragging his hands away from the scene before another scandal happened at her grandfather’s luxurious party.

“Oh, it is you. Selena’s husband and the poorest member of the CLINTON’s FAMILY. why are you kooky superseded Selena ,isn’t this homeless looking man in cheap shit your husband or do you want me to tell the whole world how you both got married ?” Nicki said in a loud pitch voice that made Selena go closer to her eyes in embarrassment while whispering and signalling to her sister to stop talking.

“Shh, stop talking Nicki. Please I beg you , stop making a big deal out of this messed up situation” Selena begged but Nicki ignored her and turned to face Elijah.

“Hi brother in-law , do you remember me from the hotel room?” Nicki asked Elijah sarcastically but Elijah ignored her and kept staring at his new wife. He doesn’t know anything about her but he still felt protective of her and didn’t want anyone to bully or embarrass her.

“What do you mean by that ? How is Elijah married to the Clinton’s family Huh?” I just recently dumped his cheating girlfriend, his mother died yesterday and how did he become a son-in-law to a powerful family overnight ? Are you sure he is not some kind of fraud or scammer ? You should call the police Nicki '' Henry said and Nicki nodded, sending deadly glares at Selena and Elijah while she wiped her latest gold plated custom designed phone to calk the security.

“Nicki , what are you doing ? Enough , you shouldn’t disrespect someone like that” Selena scolded her sister but Nicki ws admanant and still went ahead to call the security which made Henry to be really happy.

“This should be a lesson to you Elijah, don’t go to a place that is not your class” Henry said. Before sipping from a glass of wine while some hefty looking bodyguards arrived at the scene.

By now everyone at the party is already whispering and gossiping. In Fact the members of the CLINTON family were already looking down and criticizing Elijah, calling him a nobody before they even got to know about him.

“Nicki stop this nonsense now” Selena said through gritted teeth

“What’s your problem Selena ? You should be grateful I called the bodyguards to accompany him home because it is obvious that he doesn’t belong here, “ Nicki answered rudely . Everything that is happening made Elijah become shocked and speechless.

Grandfather Clinton is busy attending to some of his elderly friends in his private chamber ,a VIP (Very Important Person) section for only the top politicians and royalty. So he had no idea about the drama that was going on at the dinner party.

“What is going on here ?!” Shouted an authoritative baritone voice. The presence of the powerful man made everyone gasp and kept quiet because of shock.
