For over thirty minutes Jamole sat behind closed doors with Susan as he perused through the documents. And he stared at the documents and the information therein.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. Swan Real Estates Group covered a wide array of real estates in England, America, Philippine and Spain. With over ten thousand houses and five hundred acres of land.
“There we are Jamole,” Susan slammed a document into her palms. Flipped through them and pointed into it, “You know, father being industrious has always admired the hospitality industry. But unfortunately his sickness couldn’t let him do that. This is just the master plan for his hospitality business.”
“If I work harder with the best team I can help him bring that to pass, dear,” Jamole replied. “Right now I am no only serving as your husband but heir to the Swan group. I promise to make your family proud and double the total net worth of the group in the shortest time.”
Susan shook her head in confirmation as she flipped through more documents. “Okay Jamole, I am a graduate of business administration at the college of Antipolo. I can tell you it is no easy to lead an empire as this.”
Jamole sucked a deep breath and inwardly wondered if he would need education to champion the affairs of Swan group. For the record he wasn’t a graduate; the death of his parents truncated his educational ambition and he only believed in himself right now.
“Are you a graduate?” Susan asked, flipped through some more documents and when Jamole hesitated, she raised her gaze on him to see the sullen look on his face.
“I am…”
Susan interrupted him, “Don’t bother yourself, dear. I know you are not a graduate, but I shouldn’t have asked you anyways. Apologies if the question hurt you in any way.”
Jamole forced a smile on his face, “It is okay. I am fine. I mean you are not a stranger to me but my fiancée. I can’t be angry.”
Seeing the documents she had been scouting for she sighed. “Here we are, Jamole. Talking about the best team for you, I think we have got it all. In few days time we will be visiting our office where you will get to meet with the staffers of Swan Real Estate. How about that?” she asked, all smiles but not getting the reaction from Jamole.
There was a cloud of fury on the face of Jamole. She perceived Jamole was drowned in heavy thought within himself, and she argued if it was about her or his personal issues.
But Jamole was thinking about Stella and her boss, Roger James, as well as heir pals who thought he would never amount o anything in life. Would they believe it if he should reveal to them he was the chosen heir of the Swan Real Estate now? “Oh Lord, this can’t be me,” he said in his mind.
Jamole?” Susan called.
And Jamole snapped out of his thought, “yeah, dear. I am all ears,” he said, smiling huge.
“You seem to be lost in thought. Is anything he problem?” she asked and steered her wheel chair forward to glare at his face.
Jamole lit up his face with chuckling. “Never mind dear, I am fine. Is just that I am overwhelmed at this level of my life. I mean I can’t believe the beggar in a wheel chair whom I proposed marriage is the only child of Swan Pablo, and now I am not just a son-in-law of the richest family in Antipolo but also the heir.”
Susan smiled. “Well you have every reason to be overwhelmed. I must commend your true love for me. You wouldn’t believe quite a number of men looked down on me and wouldn’t even host me to a date thinking I am poor and disable. Congratulations, Jamole. It is your turn to shine.”
She pulled out her arm and they had a warm handshake.
“Yeah back to business,” Susan placed a document in front of him. “When it comes to staff Swan Group has the best and I promise you a warm time in our leadership.”
Jamole leaned forward to glance at the list of staffers he would be working with.
But Susan was fast enough to mention the number one person on the list, “We have the regional manager, Roger James. He is a good team leader and would be elated to work with you.”
“Roger James?” Jamole resounded, perplexed and gaped at Susan. He cast an inspective glance at the list and the next name after it was none other than his ex-wife, Stella Pitcher. “Stella Pitcher?” he mentioned in yet another emphatic one.
Susan tossed her head. “Yeah, Stella Pitcher is her secretary; as a matter of fact this two senior staff will give you their maximum contribution and support. You can always count on them, dear. They have been with Swan Group for a long time, so their loyalty is assured.”
All he while Susan spoke, Jamole was clouded with heavy thought. It just downed on him that Stella and her boss, Roger were staffers of Swan Real Estates and today he was the heir.
“Oh my God! This is too real to be true. Swan Real Estate Group, the same empire that hired my ex-wife and her boss are under my authority now. What an opportunity to strike back,” he said in his mind.
“Jamole?” Susan called, “Do you know them or something?” she asked, staring at her beholder suspiciously.
Jamole shook his head in disapproval. He had to deny knowing them because he wouldn’t want Susan to stop him from striking back. For all they did to him he was going to avenge.
“Okay. I know you can’t wait to meet with Roger and Stella. I promise you these are the high tier staff you can ever work with. When do you intend to resume duty as the heir of Swan Group?” she queried.
Jamole snorted and sighed. “Um, dear for now I would love to apply for job at Swan Real Estate and I will be applying as a janitor.”
“A janitor?” Susan snapped, took off her glasses and raised a furrowed brow at him, “Why, janitor? Do you realize who you are? You are my fiancée, soon we will get married and that automatically makes you the heir to my father’s company.”
Vengeance called on…
Jamole stood to his feet, advanced to the mirror opposite and took a glance at himself. His face lacked emotion and there was nothing on his mind other than vengeance.Susan was still mad at him. She steered her wheel chair toward Jamole as she couldn’t stop questioning him. “It is absolutely demeaning and embarrassing that my husband who is supposed to be the heir to the prestigious Swan Real Estate is opting for the position of a janitor.”Jamole gazed upon Susan and saw her face go crimson. He owed her a lot of explanation and he was going to let her into his pain in a short while. But for now he would have to disguise as a janitor. His vengeance was going to be slow and steady. None of his enemies will escape his stroke.“I know my dear. I appreciate this opportunity your family has offered me and I promise to be loyal till the end of time. But you see I am just a simple, humble man,” he lied and wouldn’t want Susan to know that Stella was his ex wife and she cheated on him with he
“That is not going to work. It is absolutely non negotiable, daughter!” Swan refuted and was interrupted by a whooping cough.Susan had visited him in his sick bed to brief him about Jamole’s intention to disguise as a janitor at the office and his quest for a quite wedding.“Go and tell your fiancée that I, Swan Pablo will not be a party to such awkward intention. He is serving as the heir to our empire because we are not healthy. You have to make him understand what position he holds. Doesn’t he know that he stands to inherit my wealth when I am gone?”“I have made him understand, father,” Susan replied and was pushed in the wheel chair by one of the securities. She rode closer to have a tête-à-tête with her father. “I don’t know what he is up to, father.”Swan Pablo averted his gaze to the wall, feeling hurt about Jamole’s sudden decision to disguise as a janitor and to go for a quiet wedding.Swan returned his gaze on her. “He is not going to disguise and your wedding will be loud
The next day Jamole rode on a scooter to the Swan Real Estate complex. As usual the rush hour on Monday morning couldn’t let him go into the sky scraper which had SWAN REAL ESTATE GROUP written on it.Jamole sucked a deep breath upon seeing the splendor of Swan Real Estate. Indeed Swan Pablo was the richest tycoon in Antipolo and he was fortunate to serve as his heir.“I can’t believe I own all of this now and these busy staff are under my control. What a life,” he said in his mind as he gazed upon the towering sky scraper.Jamole could see the tons of staff that rushed into the elevator to sign into their offices and get down to work. He was having handy a brown envelop which had his application letter for the post of a janitor he was applying for. When he saw two young men in blue jumpsuit and Swan Janitor written on their back, he knew those were the people he would work with, while he carried out his vengeance.“Hey, hey,” Jamole called on the janitors who were about to get down to
Roger burst into a maddening laughter and almost choked on it. “Come on darling you should have given the pig an opportunity to be one of our janitors. I think we would need him for our dirty toilets.”They burst into a huge laughter again and stamped a peck on each other’s cheeks.Jamole snorted, breathed uneasily and lowered his gaze. The table had turned now so he wasn’t going to cry like he used to. Right now he was very much aware of the fact that he was the heir to Swan Real Estate and Stella and Roger were his staff now.“Would they ever believe it that they were answerable to me now? Would they believe that the same dirty-looking fellow standing before them has been given the supreme power to pilot this two billion dollars worth of company?” he said in his mind.Jamole protested. “You shouldn’t have done that. You should have handed to me my envelope the same way I handed it to you. I have come to make money and not to make troubles…”He was left gaping when Stella interrupted
“Whatever job he came for is granted,” Susan said.“What!” Stella and Roger exclaimed in tandem.Roger was infuriated but Stella was more infuriated. When they got back to their office it was nagging all through the day.“Dear can you imagine what our boss just did out there, she just employed my ex-husband as our janitor. Light and darkness have nothing in common. He is darkness and I am light. He should just give way. I don’t want him closer to me.” Stella fumed, her face crimson, and she paced up and down the office, her arms on the waist.Roger sighed and forced a smile. “You don’t have to get walked up, my dear. Since Susan Pablo has decided to employ your ex-husband, we are going to rubbish him until he finds Swan Real Estate unfavorable.”Stella tossed her head in irritation. “Do you think we can ever make this company uncomfortable for that dirty man, huh? Not only is he comfortable with poverty, also nothing seems to shame him. Come on, how can I be sharing roof with my ex-hus
“This is unbelievable,” Susan remarked as she flipped through the documents which Jamole presented, “When did you discover this?” she queried and slammed the documents on the desk.Jamole’s eyes lit with indignation and chin pulled down with smile. “Yesterday while I was dusting the window pane at the penthouse I overheard him discuss over the phone about the sales of the land which he plans not to remit to Susan.Susan scowled her face. “This is ridiculous. I wonder how long he has been doing this fraud behind us. Roger James is as old as this company. When my father founded Swan Real Estate, Roger was the first staff he employed…” suddenly she broke down in tears.Jamole drifted to her side and rubbed her on the shoulders, “Be of good cheer, sweetie. Perk up dear. You don’t have to cry especially now I am involved.” He squatted to her. “You see this is the reason I decided to disguise as a janitor. If I reveal my true identity now they will withdraw their arsenal and even elope out o
Jamole was in the dress room at the office, getting ready to carry out his duty when the door creaked . Through the mirror in front he could see it was Andre.“You know you don’t belong here,” Andre said, pulling out his sneakers and T-shirt from a bag. “Rich kids like us who have earned enough money from our hustle belong here. Swan Real Estate is not for failures and paupers like you.”Jamole breathed uneasily, dimmed his eyes at him and continued with what he was doing. There was no need revealing to this hater his true identity. But for sure he owed Andre a dose of his vengeance and as for the day he would reveal his true identity to him, he couldn’t just wait for it.Once Jamole turned around to reply him, a pair of sneakers was hurled at him. Jamole lowered his gaze into his arms. The sneakers almost hit him in the eyes but luckily enough they hit his nose.“Pig!” Andre cursed and chuckled in mockery. “You have the nerves to talk back at me, huh? How much do you have, dirty Munic
“Welcome boss!”“Welcome boss!”The securities scattered all over the terraced villa greeted Susan Pablo once the door to her Ferrari opened. And as usual they helped her into her wheel chair. All the while Jamole was peeping at her from their bedroom. He had told her the other day he had taken upon himself the responsibility of putting her in the wheelchair and riding her around. “The securities shouldn’t be doing my job,” Jamole had told his wife. But right about now he couldn’t go out to do what he had promised her a few days ago; he had bled profusely through his nose and jade had really been helpful by giving him first aid before rushing him to the hospital. He wanted to stay out of sight until his broken nose healed. But right now he had business to discuss with her. He didn’t want to get his wife upset by revealing to her that that Andre was responsible for his broken nose. The day before Jamole disguised as a janitor, Susan had nagged about the embarrassment and hurt she woul
