Chapter six

There was a certain man that attached himself to Aaron and Helen, no one else came close and Aaron started wondering who he was.

In the elevator, escaping the curious eyes of the boisterous crowd below, the man had left them as the bodyguards refused to allow anyone else to enter the same elevator with the new boss and Helen.

"Who was that man dressed in a flashy suit that walked next to us?" He asked Helen as the elevator rode up.

"Oh, that was Mr. Davis, he is the CEO of this branch." She replied. "He's a very determined worker and he's as strict as hell. You'll wonder how he has managed to handle over seven hundred employees under him for the past eight years."

Aaron suddenly grinned and asked, "So Helen, how many employees do I have under me?"

She stared at him then blew at her cheeks hopelessly, "To be honest, Mr. Churchill, you can't count them, it's impossible." She replied with a charming smile.

Aaron laughed softly, this was the life he had always dreamt of. He controlled thousands of lives without even knowing it!

As the elevator doors parted open, he said, "By the way, Helen, you can cut it out with the Mr. Churchill stuff, call me Aaron."

Her eyes flashed for a brief moment with surprise, then she nodded and said, "Sure, Mr. Churchill." She shook her head as she berated herself, "...I meant, Aaron."

She led him into the only office on the last floor of this magnificent building and Aaron couldn't help but gasp with awe. It was magnificent! The largest office he had ever seen! It had a coffee machine, a printing machine, comfortable couches, and a large mahogany desk, the luxuries were limitless. Three six-foot windows gave a magnificent view of Kingston city, it was truly a billionaire's office And then, there was the steady air of wealth and he reveled in it for a while with closed eyes.

When he settled down behind his new desk, a soft knock sounded on the door and the man from earlier walked in as Helen held the door open for him. He had a smile plastered on his hairy face, he looked smart, but his eyes were alert and rugged.

"Mr. Churchill, what a pleasure to finally meet you." Mr. Davies said.

"Please, have a seat," Aaron said, gesturing to a chair on the opposite side of the large desk.

Holding a document which he dropped on the desk, Mr. Davies sat down smartly, desperate to give a good impression to his new boss.

"I'm Davies Louis, the CEO of the Kingston branch, sir." He said and Aaron nodded, waiting for him to go on. "Without wasting much of your time, sir, I would like to know if there are certain changes you would like to make as you take over fully."

Helen was by his side and Aaron glanced a questioning look at her.

She quickly chirped in, "What Mr. Davies here is asking is if you'd like to make some adjustments to the staff and certain employees in various departments of the company."

"Oh," Aaron mumbled, his eyes bored as he stared at the CEO. "From the papers I've gone through, none of the departments are lagging and the gross profit has been on a steady increase over the past three years. It wouldn't do any harm to maintain the current staff, any changes will be made in the event of a decrease in overall performance and profits." Aaron replied, in the authoritative voice his grandfather and Mr. Adolph had drilled into him.

The CEO smiled with relief, the new boss was young, patient, and intelligent, and he liked him already. The best part of it all was that he didn't have to go through the stress of sacking employees and then hiring new ones, it was tedious.

 "Anything else?" Aaron asked.

He didn't care about this now, his mind was centered on the thirst for revenge that was charing inside him.

"None, for now, Mr. Churchill." Mr. Davies replied and rose to his feet.

Aaron suddenly remembered something, "Hold on a minute, Davies." He said. "Sit down."

Davies sat down, he was taking orders from someone almost half of his age but he didn't mind.

As long as he got the paycheck at the end of his month, his boss could be a nine-year-old for all he cared about. Davies was almost fifty but he didn't look it.

 "Yes, Mr. Churchill?"

"I want to purchase a company and I would like to know how long it would take," Aaron said and he liked the confident look in the CEO's eyes.

"Very well, Mr. Churchill, you can purchase any company of your choice. So which is it?" Davies asked.

Aaron smiled, Helen was surprised by this new development that had sprung out of the blue.

"A company named Brentwood Limited," Aaron said and the CEO frowned.

"Brentwood limited?" He repeated, straining his mind. "I have no such knowledge of a company with that name, sir, please give me a moment to research it."

After a while, Davies' frown deepened as he saw the capacity of the company in question from a document he had. "Brentwood limited? Now I know it, it's a low company compared to our standards, it doesn't even have up to two hundred employees sir, we can swallow it up in three days!" He exclaimed to Aaron's delight.

Davies wondered why his new boss was concerned about such an irrelevant company and so did Helen.

"Three days, you say?" Aaron asked and Davies nodded. "Okay, how long will it take to dispose of its owner and leave him bankrupt? I want the whole company and nothing left for its owner." His words were direct and flat.

Davies didn't have to think for long, "A week, all we have to do is buy the shares they have put up in the market, and in a flash, you would become the highest shareholder. With a snap of your finger, the company would be engulfed into ours and you can dispose of its owner by licking him out of the board." He replied then added. "If any illegal activities are found, he can also be thrown into prison, all this at your command, Mr. Churchill."

Aaron didn't hesitate, his face was hard and merciless as he said, "Do it at once then."

Helen watched Davies leave, then turned to Aaron with shocked eyes and asked, "What do you need such a company for, Mr. Churchill?" Her voice was filled with bewilderment.

Aaron rose to his feet, he wasn't done. He still had his personal belongings which involved the twenty-four wasted years of his life. "Don't worry about that, Helen." He said as he walked out of the office. "Get used to calling me Aaron."

"My grandfather didn't have to get used to calling your father by his first name." She remarked.

He looked at her and said, "I'm not my grandfather."

He didn't need a driver and he took the most expensive car in the garage to his former house.

When he knocked on the door, it was probably the most annoying person that could have welcomed him that came out.

"Ugh, this mother fucker." Aaron thought with disgust.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the rejected bastard." Josh, his stupid ex-brother-in-law remarked, but his eyes held a strange look of surprise as he saw how elegantly Aaron was dressed. "So, who lent you this suit, huh? You must have stolen it from a rich man who probably uses your stupid face as a tissue."

Aaron's fists squeezed, but he remained calm and just stared at Josh's ignorance and foolishness.

"Josh, who is that at the” Anna's mother stopped as she joined Josh at the door. "You, what the fuck do you want? You still look as weak and dumb as ever, Aaron."

That was a lie to cover up how startled she was to see how good Aaron looked. She was completely stunned, surely this couldn't be the Aaron she had tormented only a few weeks ago.

The screeching tires of a car veered Aaron's attention from them as he turned. It was his ex-wife's car and a triumphant sparkle sparked in him as he watched Anna step down from the car.
