Chapter sixteen
Anna sat alone in her dimly lit room, the soft glow of her phone illuminating her face as she mindlessly scrolled through her social media feeds. Her once vibrant and expressive eyes were now clouded with sadness, and her radiant smile had faded into a mere memory.

The room now seemed to echo with the hollowness of her heart. The wedding dress that hung in the corner served as a painful reminder of the day that had turned into a nightmare.

As she scrolled through her phone, Anna's thumb hesitated over Lucas's name. They had shared so much, and yet, he had betrayed her in the worst possible way.

She swiftly blocked him, determined to erase any trace of him from her life. Her mother's voice echoed from the other side of the door, asking if she was hungry. "I made Spaghetti bolognese. Your favorite" her mother called out but Anna simply ignored it.
