Chapter 8

After Louis was discharged from the hospital because of his quick recovery, he sought to make the Mayor's wishes come true. Though he had not participated in the competition between companies before, his body could barely contain his subtle excitement to enter. 

Queen stood patiently outside the hospital, waiting for her new boss, Mr Louis. They had a lot to go through for Louis to understand his future arena before jumping in without caution. Louis briskly walked straight in her direction, his hands swinging automatically to match his footsteps. 

“Good morning sir,” Queen greeted with her head slightly bowed but also managing to stand straight.

“Morning” 

“I have prepared your car to take you to the company. I figured you'd want to see it the moment you were discharged” Queen guessed right, for Louis wanted to go straight to business instead of wasting time celebrating his new feats.

“Great, I also want detailed information about most of the companies participating in the competition. It would help me get a solid standing against them,” Louis stated in an austere manner, he planned to keep things official between them rather than let his eyes control him.

Queen gave a quick nod, her eyes showing approval of his immediate curiosity against his opponents. She led him inside a black car that stood out from others in terms of elegance and quality. 

Her hands slithered through some high-profile documents she held carefully.

“I'm sure you don't like things being sugar-coated, so I'm just going to be honest. There are bigger companies who play dirty and pick on smaller companies for fun,” she uttered, her voice calmer than usual. It gave Louis the impression that she meant to relay how deadly the competition would be.

Louis snapped his finger and smirked intently. “We have never won this game before, right?” He asked. One thing he loved was tackling challenges and outwitting people in his field.

“No sir, but we always come close to coming out on top, but somehow we are always bested in one way or the other,” Queen replied; she looked away from his gaze, a little bit ashamed at her answers.

“Well, maybe you haven't been playing the game the right way.” Louis crossed his arms, confident about his statement. His posture made it obvious that he couldn't wait to come out on top.

“I don't know how to prove that, but the company's name is enough to strike fear in rival opponents.” Queen stretched out a document for him to look through. Louis hesitated for a second, but her aura whispered how important the documents were.

Louis scanned the document carefully, quite surprised at what he saw. The documents contained the names of companies that entered the game. Companies that surpassed trillions of dollars filled the top numbers, it was like they waited a century for this opportunity.

“I didn't expect them to be this many. What number are we?” Louis asked, his eyes still staring at the document, he looked at it seriously in a manner that suggested he was circling out companies that would pose a problem to him.

She gaped at him and responded quietly so he would not be distracted “One hundred and twenty-four companies have staked their claim so far and we haven't entered yet”

Louis suddenly stopped, his eyes shone with vigor as he clasped his left hand. Queen gasped in surprise at his reaction, she couldn't tell if he was happy at her reply. She lightly pinched herself, prompting her to explain further.

“Mayor Sam suggested we wait for your confirmation before making our entrance public,” her voice longed for a reply from Louis. She couldn't deal with the shady reaction Louis exuded.

“This is very good. I thought you guys had entered already, but this makes it very great for us” Louis gave an approving nod, his smirk widened like a villain with a plan against his enemy.

Queen gaped confusingly at him, tapping her feet silently as she wondered why he felt excited at her reveal.

“I'm sorry, sir, but why do you think it's great for us?” she inquired with her eyebrows slightly raised.

“I'll answer your question but first I need to ask you a question”

“Go on sir”

“The previous times we entered the company college competition, how many times did people know we entered publicly with our official name?” Louis turned towards her, his face eager for a positive answer.

Louis’ question seemed to make her more tense and confused as she swallowed a large gulp of saliva and stealthily bit her lips “Every time we entered, we used our company’s name. It deters other companies from picking on us” she replied, pressing her teeth hard against each other and thought if she had made a wrong move all those while.

“Exactly what I wanted to hear, we can use the late entry to the company college as an advantage” Louis rested his back on the car seat and handed the paper back to his assistant.

She placed the paper back into a brown new envelope and waited for him to give her instructions. She knew Louis liked the late entrance to the company college but she didn't know why. Her eyes filled up with confusion and her lips pressed against each other awkwardly without control.

Louis googled a list of random names on his phone and hissed at most of the results. He kept on scrolling gently with his full focus. He looked for a specific name he would recognize in a whiff. 

All this while, Queen just sat there making casual glances at the driver or her envelope. She repeated this action continually until Louis clenched his fingers in approval of his results.

He looked at her with high spirits and gave a command, “We are not entering with our official name. This time, we will do it differently; we'll enter with a secret name.” he snapped his finger as he spoke.

Queen’s expression heavily begged for an explanation for his sudden change in procedure. She wanted clarity as to why he decided to enter with a different name.
