THE AMBUSH

Caleb sat at the back of the cab thinking of what next to do. Whom to contact? Lilliana had lost consciousness on the way to the hospital.

And her phone was switched off.

It was one thing to hang out with your staff - albeit for an innocent clinking of glasses, but it was another different thing to be entangled with her when she lay unconscious.

Especially since he was the last person she was seen with.

If anything were to go wrong, there would be no easy way of talking himself out of it.

Caleb shook her on the shoulder.

"Lialiana, wake up. Please open your eyes."

There was no response.

He urged the driver to speed up. He was taking her to the nearby hospital.

They arrived and the nurses rushed outside with a gurney.

Lilliana was taken inside and Caleb followed closely behind.

A female doctor appeared just as the nurses were checking her vitals.

"What happened?" she asked him.
