Stephen and Amanda went through most of the floors quickly, skipping most of them since Stephen wouldn’t be interacting with the people there.By the time they reached the thirtieth floor where the operations team was assigned, Stephen was already quite tired as he tried to absorb every bit of information Amanda offered.“Here we are!” Amanda said excitedly as she stepped out of the elevator and Stephen followed her.“This floor and the one below is occupied by the operations department, there are quite a lot of employees working on the operations of Cho Industries.” Amanda said with a smile as she led Stephen through the hall.“You were hired as an assis
“Chairman.” Stephen calmly greeted as soon as he recovered from the initial shock. He had to stop himself from glaring at his grandfather. He almost forot that he was supposed to be a mere employee, not the chairman’s grandson.“Mr. Sy, why haven’t you come over to my office?” Eldrich Cho told Stephen as Stephen resisted the urge to roll his eyes.“Chairman Cho, Miss Amanda has been giving me a tour of the office. I also believe that it’s more important to learn about the company and my co-workers.” Stephen replied. He could tell that his team members and Amanda were getting anxious behind him, who wouldn’t? They were standing before the Chairman of their company, a man who had the power to fire them on a whim. They were also witnessing their new boss answer the Chairman directly as the chairman had just claimed to have personally hired Stephen Sy.To their surprise, Eldrich Cho laughed and smiled, something that the people of the company hadn’t seen him do in a long time. “I am bey
Eventually, Stephen and the others managed to escape the chatty Kyle Choi with Andrwe Wong and Michael Ho frowning at the guy.“Why didn’t you tell him that you’re our new boss?” Andrew Wong asked Stephen when they finally made it to the elevator with Natalia Wu, Carissa Tan, and Amanda.“Tell who? What did we miss?” Carissa Tan asked as she looked at the three men.“Kyle Choi came up to us with rumors about our new boss.” Michael Ho said, laughing at the situation. It seemed he had managed to recover from the initial embarrassment.“Oh, what did he say when you told him Stephen was our new boss?” Carissa asked, giggling and eager to find out what had happe
“Natalia?” Mr. Ong asked in shock as he watched the person he expected to side with him, get up and walk towards Stephen Sy.“Mr. Sy, why don’t we head down together. We’re all done for the day anyway.” Natalia Wu said as she smiled at Stephen.“Right, yes, we’re done!” Carissa kicked Michael Ho’s chair making him jump and quickly sweep all of his things into his bag.Stephen resisted the urge to laugh as Andrew Wong shook his head, stood up and followed Natalia to stand next to Stephen.“What are you doing here, Liam?” Andrew asked in a cold tone. From what Stephen could tell, the two
Stephen calmly made his way to the Chairman's office as everyone whispered about the scene Liam Te had made at the elevator. From what Stephen could gather from the whispers around him, Liam was a constant fixture at the CEO’s floor, and his outbursts were not rare. What was odd to them was the fact Liam’s outburst often happened after he was leaving his father’s office.Liam never dared approach the Chairman’s office, which was why the people in this are were so confident that Liam Te wouldn’t hear them.“Sorry, but are you lost?” A woman asked as she noticed Stephen walking through the hall headed to the Chairman’s office.
“You will learn a lot from Mr. Ong and his department, the man just hates people that use their connections to get into companies.” Eldrich Cho explained to his grandson as he offered Stephen a cup of coffee. “Then why does it seem like he and Liam Ye are actually friends?” Stephen asked as he crossed his arms on his chest. “Mr. Ong believes that that stupid boy refused the role your father gave him. So he sees him differently.” Eldrich Cho said as he shook his head in disapproval. “He will see your abilities and your worth in time.” Stephen nodded. He knew that his grandfather was right. “Does anyone else know that you survived?” Eldrich Cho asked his grandson. “Aside from you and Uncle William? Robert Ke figured it out and sent someone to talk to me.” Stephen decided to tell his grandfather everything. “That Ke boy will tell Edward Hao for sure, those two have been searching for you even if everyone told them you died in the car crash.” Eldrich Cho was smiling as he spoke. The next day, when Stephen returned to the office, he was still worried about his grandfather’s plans. He needed to tell Vanessa the truth before he brought her to have dinner with his grandfather. It didn’t have to be this weekend, but it had to be soon. Then he had the matter of the party, according to the invitation it was for this friday. He had to take Vanessa out to buy a dress for the event, one that suited her place as his fiance, not one of those tacky dresses socialites liked to buy. How he wished he could talk to his sister Amalia about the matter, but he didn’t even know on whose side she stood.Would she even believe him if they met?He was pulled from his thoughts when someone called his name.“Mr. Sy, boss.” It was Andrew Wong, waving his hands, trying to catch his attention.“Andrew.” Stephen greeted as he straightened himself. “Is something wrong?”He and his team were busy with a new project and Stephen was trying to figure out a solution when he got distracted.“
“They are targeting you and you know it.” Natalia hissed as soon as they returned to their area. “I know, how could I not know?” Stephen asked as he laughed at how crazy Mr. Ong and the department head were thinking this would take him down. “Are you going to the Chairman? Surely this qualifies as a reason to go to the Chairman.” Michael Ho asked in a low voice. They all knew that Stephen didn’t want his connection to the Chairman to be exposed, so they all did their best to keep it a secret. “If I ran to the Chairman for every little matter, that would make me no better than them. Besides, the task they have given us is not impossible. We have a month.” Stephen declared, much to his team members’ shock. “They gave us a month.” Natalia reminded him. “Enough time. Get me all the information on our costs and a flow chart on how our products get from the factory to the customer. Also I want to see a chart on their customer experience when ordering from us.” Stephen told them.
