Stephen looked at John, surprised that Hana would react that way to the news of her grandfather and cousin being locked up for the rest of their lives.

It was clear from her file that they weren’t close, but there weren’t any signs that she hated them.

“Shouldn’t you want them to be freed?” Stephen asked as he cautiously eyed the young woman.

She might seem innocent or act like she was weak, but Stephen had no intention of underestimating people. He had been on the receiving end of that often enough to know that it was sometimes the ones you least expected.

Hana looked down, clearly feeling guilty about what she had said.

“I don’t want to hurt you, Hana.” Stephen told the young woman in a calm and soothing tone. “I can see that you aren’t involved with your grandfather’s and cousin’s plans. I just need the truth from you so that I know how to move forward.”

Hana hesitated as she looked at John and Stephen.

“Your men kidnapped Pao Pao and I.” Hana pointed out.
