13. Unexpected
Kalix could sense the hostility in Jaxson's eyes, but he chose to act unfazed. This was what he wanted, even though it hadn't been fully achieved yet.

On the other hand, Eugene furrowed her brow slightly when she heard the car horn honk at an inconvenient time. However, she didn't display any displeasure when she looked at Jaxson. Nonetheless, Jaxson always treated her with gentleness and courtesy, like an older brother caring for his younger sibling.

"I've come to pick you up, as your aunt requested," Jaxson said later. His expression and the way he looked at Eugene were clearly different from how he looked at Kalix.

In his heart, Kalix chuckled at Jaxson's hypocritical behavior. It was just like him.

Eugene nodded to Jaxson, then turned to Kalix and said, "I'll go ahead."
