12. Telling the Truth
Kalix put his phone away, taking a moment to collect his emotions. After taking a deep breath and calming down, he finally dared to listen to his mother's voice.

"Mom, what's up?" Kalix asked calmly. It had been a long time since he felt this melancholic. It was somewhat embarrassing at the age of 29.

"It's nothing significant," Mrs. Owen, his mother, replied. "Am I bothering you?"

"Not bothering me at all, I'm just relaxing right now."

"Oh, that's good."

Mother and son exchanged quite a few words. Mrs. Owen asked about Kalix's well-being, how life was at the university, whether he was eating regularly, and all the things a mother would typically inquire about. Kalix felt his heart warming. It was a feeling he had never dared to hope for before.

Even if Jane was attentive enough, Kalix didn't feel the same sincerity as he did from his mother. In this world, only his mother could truly love him. Kalix promised to make his mother's life filled with happiness in this life.
