54. Ignorance

Kalix made no effort to hide his disdain for Mason. From his tone, manner of speaking, to his responses to Mason’s every word, there was not a hint of care. Not even a willingness to engage with a stranger.

This naturally fueled Mason’s dissatisfaction, making him even angrier, especially with Kalix’s last words.

“What did you just say, huh?!” Mason retorted with a raised voice. “What makes you so confident to claim that you’re like me? Do you really want to be considered my son?”

Upon hearing Mason’s anger and his words, Kalix just chuckled. As before, he didn’t avoid Mason, instead, he let the old man know that he was being mocked.

“You’re laughing? What are you laughing at?!” Mason’s angry voice echoed through the phone.

Kalix remained calm, though happy, restraining himself slightly given the hospital setting.

“Mason Dominic, truth be told, I don’t want a father like you, so I don’t need your acknowledgment,” Kalix said after sensing Mason had calmed down a bit.
