Chapter 09: The beginning of the awakening

Two months had passed since Nate had met Mr. Sean. Tonight, the center of Vienna was very busy with people driving back and forth in their private vehicles. A black luxury Toyota drove through the city streets.

The car with the license plate B 137 H was followed by a black Lamborghini with the license plate B 345 T. The driver of the Toyota looked back several times in his rear view mirror. Meanwhile, the beautiful woman sitting in the back seat on the right looked busy with her cell phone.

"Miss Sicilia, that Lamborghini car is following us," the driver said, looking at Sicilia through the glass on the dashboard.

"Lamborghini?" said Sicilia as she looked back for a moment. But she couldn't see the driver because the two cars were quite far apart.

"Do we have to call the police?" the driver asked.

"No need. After all, the glass and body of this car have been modified to be bulletproof. We will contact the police if the car makes any strange movements. Try not to drive on deserted roads," Sicilia replied calmly, staring at her phone again.

"Yes, Miss Sicilia," the driver replied.

Sicilia's car finally stopped at a red light. But this time, the black Lamborghini behind her car immediately moved forward. Sicilia reflexively looked to the right side of the windshield to see which car was following her. The Lamborghini's left front windshield was halfway down.

Sicilia's eyes widened in shock as she saw the driver sitting in the front seat of the car. He appeared to be Nate Evander, wearing clear glasses. Nate, meanwhile, just grinned as he saw his ex-wife in shock.

"Nate?" muttered Sicilia.

The situation only lasted a moment, however, as Nate's car had moved parallel to her. The windshield of the car Nate was driving was also completely closed. Sicilia's driver, hearing Sicilia's muttering, was immediately surprised and turned around.

"What's the matter, miss?" Sicilia's driver asked.

"It can't be. He must be rotting in prison, I must be looking at him wrong," Sicilia said, ignoring her driver's question.

The light turned green. Nate immediately pulled his car in front of Sicilia's stationary car. Nate took off his glasses with a happy look on his face.

"Say hello again, Sicilia," Nate said as he stepped on the gas.

Nate's luxury car sped through the city streets. The towering skyscrapers seemed to light up the night. Nate's iPhone suddenly buzzed as he drove. He grabbed his AirPods from the dashboard.

"What's up, Mr. Sean?" Nate asked after the call connected.

"Mr. Nate, we have finished testing the snack recipe you sent us. Delta Snack Company will be ready to mass produce it in the next two weeks," Sean reported.

"That's good news. Have the people on the list been fired?" asked Nate.

"They did, sir. Mr. Joseph Delta fired them himself. We are also in the process of fulfilling your request to select their replacements from the best potential employees," Sean replied.

"That's good. Just do as I tell you, and the Delta Business Group will soon recover from its slump. After all, I am the former director of the Lucius Business Group. I know their strengths and weaknesses," Nate said.

"What about Mr. Delta's son?" Nate asked.

"As the Master's request, he was indeed released by Mr. Delta. But he has been kept away from anything related to his father's business group. Don't we need to tell him that the Delta Business Group is no longer his father's?" Sean replied.

"There is no need. Only you two know. I'll keep things moving behind the scenes," Nate said.

"I understand, sir," Sean said before ending the call.

"Who should I give a lesson in the bitterness of life to first? Damian Lucius' family should be my last meal," Nate muttered with a grin.

"Maybe Xavier Lucius' family, he's the youngest of Mr. Lucius' sons. He should be the first target," Nate said as he turned on the music.

Nate's car continued through the streets of Vienna. The city's most luxurious apartment building was faintly visible in the distance. Nate's car drove in that direction before the figure of his car became invisible due to the speed at which he was driving.

Meanwhile, Sicilia continued to think all the way to her house. She still couldn't believe that she had seen Nate. Although her brain denied that it was impossible for Nate to be outside the prison. But her heart was certain that he was indeed Nate Evander.

"Miss shouldn't think too deeply about this. There must be a lot of people in this world who look like that trash," Sicilia's driver comforted her.

"Besides, it's impossible for him to be out of prison and own a luxury Lamborghini. That makes no sense, lady," Sicilia's driver continued.

"No, Ben. We don't know what's happened to him in the last eight months. He could have broken out of prison with other criminals," Sicilia argued as she stared at her iPhone screen.

"The Dark Continent prison is very well guarded. All the most dangerous criminals from all over the world congregate there. It's impossible for him to survive there, let alone escape. It's impossible, miss," Ben said with a laugh.

But Sicilia didn't answer anymore and decided to call Dominic, who was now officially her husband.

"Honey, are you still at the office with Dad?" Sicilia asked.

"Yes. We'll probably be home in two hours," Dominic replied.

"Are you okay?" asked Dominic in a worried tone.

"I'm fine. I just want to tell you and Dad something," Sicilia replied.

"Okay. You can tell me everything when you get home. Right now I have an impromptu meeting with the DeLucius Snack Company officials," Dominic said hurriedly.

"What's with the impromptu meeting? No one told me about it back at the office," Sicilia asked.

"We just got some important information from a spy in the Delta Snack company. He told us about a competitor's move that we weren't expecting. That's why my father asked for an impromptu meeting to hear the explanation from our spy," Dominic explained.

"Isn't the Delta Group already on the verge of bankruptcy? Why do we have to worry about that?" asked Sicilia, furrowing her brow.

"That's the problem. Some of our spies who had high positions in their company have been fired. The most suspicious thing is that they've started paying back their debts," Dominic replied.

"Impossible. Uncle Mark has already confirmed that they will be bankrupt and ruined within the next three months. The bank shouldn't want to lend them any more money," Sicilia said with a shocked look on her face.
