Chapter one hundred and six

(At the meeting)

Gonzalez eyed the developer suspiciously but shook his hand anyway. "I appreciate the gesture," he said. "But I'm not sure I believe you."

The developer smiled. "I understand. But I wanted to talk to you about your proposal. I think we could work together to find a solution that benefits everyone."

Gonzalez raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

The developer leaned in. "I have some ideas for how we can increase affordable housing in the city without hurting the bottom line for developers. I think if we work together, we could come up with a plan that works for everyone."

Gonzalez was intrigued. "I'm listening."

The developer pulled out a folder and handed it to Gonzalez. "Take a look at these proposals. I think you'll find some of them interesting."
