8 - Back Home

The Morelli family mansion is a magnificent modern Italian-style mansion. It was situated above a manmade cliff making it look more majestic. In front was a Greek-style fountain, and there was a garden full of different kinds of colorful flowers.

The land stretches up to fifty acres of land, and the mansion premises itself occupies one-quarter of its total vast. It’s private property with a high-security setup that would only allow access to authorized personnel.

The property has its own helipad, a golf course, and a training ground for their private armies, and inside the mansion houses an armory full of guns and high-powered weapons. Surveillance cameras were installed in every corner of the land to ensure tight security. The control room was situated on the underground level of the mansion.

The sky was getting dark as they arrived at the mansion. The remote-controlled gates opened as they enter the mansion’s premises.

Butlers, housekeepers, and guards lined up in front of the mansion’s entrance to greet him on his arrival. They were dressed in their respective uniforms to identify their position in the mansion.

Armed men dressed in suits also lined on the other side. Tall, bulky, and intimidating men who served as guards in the mansion.

In this place, he is not Simon Scott, but he’s Salvatorre Morelli. The only son of Emiliano Morelli, the ruthless and cunning Mafia Don of the Morelli Crime Family.

In the outside world, he is Simon Scott, an ordinary man who has no wealth and no family. But in reality, he would soon be one of the most powerful Mafia leaders in New York.

Simon or Salvatorre wandered his gaze in the area. He missed his home. This is where he grew up, and as the only son of one of the biggest mafia clans in the country, he had both good and traumatic memories in his very home.

They bowed in respect as Simon hopped out of the car.

“Welcome back, Young master Salvatorre.” They all greeted him in unison. Their heads were down and no one dare to look him in the face.

Salvatorre stood in front of them, his hands inside the pocket of his pants. He didn’t say anything. He just stood there and looked at every person who paid respect to his return. He remembered some of them as they were already working here when he was a little boy. Some were new faces.

The people who knew who he really was trembled in fear and showed their utmost respect towards him since they knew he was the heir to the most notorious mafia clan.

“How are you all doing? I missed this place.” He gestured for them to stand straight, and they all obliged.

“We missed you, Young master, it’s been a while. We are glad that you came home safe and in good health.” Butler Jon replied. He was one of the oldest butlers in the house, and one of the most trusted.

Salvatorre nodded. It’s true that he’s been away for a long time. After his mother was ambushed and killed many years ago, his father hid his identity as the real heir of the clan. It was to protect him from their enemies. He lived like a normal man and worked as a janitor in a hotel.

The death of his mother was still etched in his memory. Her last words and smile as she took her last breath were still so clear in Salvatorre’s memory.

Anger started to arise from the deepest part of his heart. He’s been silent for years. Salvatorre thinks that now is the perfect time to return to those people who killed his mother.

He would make sure that his revenge would be sweet, especially to his dear wife who cheated on him despite his efforts to make their marriage work. And the worst part was, she cheated on Gregory Holt.

Simon pushed away those thoughts.

“Where’s my father?” he asked as he walked past the butlers and housekeepers. His eyes were looking for familiar faces. He wanted to see how the Capos are doing right now.

Butler Jon followed him. “He’s in the study room, young master.”

Salvatorre halted in the hall and gazed up at his mother’s portrait mounted on the wall. The portrait looked so real. Her smile is vibrant and she has him sitting on her lap.

Simon swallowed the pain and continued walking toward the study room.

His father was the leader of the largest mafia clan in the country. He was dubbed as the Godfather since he was invincible and held so much power in the underworld. But that was before the death of his mother seven years ago.

Theodore Scott went out of business when his beloved wife, Katarina Perez was murdered. It paved the way for the weakening of their clan. His father lost interest in managing the family business, good thing Federico Verga was there to continue their operation, he was the clan’s Underboss.

“What about Marcus? Giovanni?”

“Marcus was out to meet someone in the military, young master. He will be back tomorrow after the deal was done. As for Giovanni, he’s in waiting for you in your father’s office”

Marcus was one of the Capos, and Salvatorre’s trusted friends, as did Giovanni. Though they didn’t see each other for years because of his father’s command, they share a deep bond. They are like blood brothers.

Butler John knocked on the huge mahogany door before he opened it.

As Simon stepped inside, he found his father, Emiliano Morelli seating behind the huge office table. Federico, the underboss was standing beside his father. Giovanni was also there, with a huge smile plastered on his face.

Don Emiliano stood and opened his arms wide to welcome him.

“Father.”

“Welcome back home, my son!” His father’s voice was laced with undeniable delight. “Come, give your old father a hug.”

Simon embraced his father tightly. He was so glad to be finally home after so many years.
