“Has Damien not arrived yet?”

Ash Harlock moved her observing eyes to the side where she saw Clarissa approaching her. She was wearing a silky, red-laced nightgown that barely covered her milky complexion. Her hair was tucked to her left shoulder and Ash could see that the woman retouched her makeup instead of removing it.

Her body was facing the balcony, looking over to the gates to check if the master had returned, so Ash turned around to give Clarissa her attention. Even if she hated to do anything with her, she couldn’t just leave the woman unattended.

“Master will return shortly. You may go to bed without him.”

“I’d feel bad if I didn’t get to give him proper thanks after giving Richard a deal like that. I want to see him personally and thank him.”

“That won’t be necessary.” Ash firmly said to her, which felt like a slap of rejection to the other woman’s face. “Master Damien is generous in nature, and your husband has given him enough gratitude before he left.”

“No, I insist,”
