Chapter 140

Unfortunately, Sean's attention was needed urgently and he had to drop off first. Then he instructed his driver to drop her off but she declined, putting him off.

The last thing she needed was to be seen by people alighting from his car. Boarding a car ride, she slipped into the car undetected going on her merry way.

Sean was too busy to bother with anything other than a peck on the cheeks, and a promise to call her. It wasn't even 9 am yet, but she was exhausted and needed to rest.

“We're here, ma'am.” The cab driver told her, stopping a couple of blocks away from her apartment as she instructed, jolting her from her thoughts. She pulled out cash, handing it over to him to walk the rest of the way to her house.

It was like any other day as she placed the key in the doorway, twisting the doorknob sideways.

With a sigh, she dropped everything on the nearest flat surface without even looking up…her jacket, bag, and keys.

The next thing to follow was her shoe, toeing it off immediately.
