Chapter 2

For the first time in a while, Sean stunned both Amelia and her mother speechless, as they couldn't speak for a good two minutes.

The audacity that they both had to talk to him that way, demanding that he spend more money after all he had done for them.

“How can you say that?!” Amelia yelled the momentary speechlessness had faded off.

“It's not fair now that it's on the other show, is it?” He smirked.

Moving his hand a bit, the glint of the wedding ring that Amelia placed on his hand caught the sun. The reminder of his impending nuptials with her sparked more anger, and he tore the ring off his finger tossing it as far away as he might would allow.

Sean thought that he had found his soulmate, the woman who completed him but clearly, he was wrong.

Amelia didn't have the same objective as he did, only concerned with her happiness in the end irrespective of how it may come about.

“I'm done.” He told her. “Clearly, we were wrong for each other. I thought you loved me, I just…” he trailed off, the words dying on his tongue..

No matter what he says now, he can't change her mind or her mindset.

Turning in his heel, Sean left Amelia standing at the altar much to the consternation of the audience. Murmurings broke out amongst them, and as Sean walked he thought he heard a stifled squeal.

His heart broke with each step he took, the decorations Amelia insisted on which cost thousands of dollars staring back at him.

Just as he was about to cross the doors of the entrance, the bodyguards stationed at the door to keep unwanted guests away blocked his route, their faces impassive.

“What the hell…?” Sean thought out loud. “Move, goddammit it!” He ordered the men but they didn't even acknowledge that someone had spoken. Regardless, Sean tried to push his way out but when he took a step, they grabbed their weapons, the threat clear.

One wrong move, and we might blow your head off.

In anger, he turned around to face Amelia and Mina, her mother who stood with a smug look on their faces. “What is the meaning of this? Let me go this instant!”

“Did you really think it would be that easy? That you could walk like that after embarrassing me?” Amelia took a step forward.

“What do you want?” Sean's hands turned into fists by his side.

Amelia studied her nails as if they were the most fascinating thing she had seen. “Money. If you want to walk out that door without paying the $1 million, then you might as well compensate me before you leave.”

If it wasn't for the serious look on her face, Sean would think that Amelia was messing with him.

Compensate her? What the hell for?

It turns out that he said that out loud because Amelia responded.

“We were together for 3 years, in which I had to endure you,” she waved towards him as if he was a piece of shit. “For that, I deserve a reward.”

Sean sputtered, at a loss for words.

Chloe, Amelia's friend whom she was close with, walked towards the aisle.

“Melly, Sean's right.” She tried talking to Amelia. “These things you're doing don't make any sense. Sean here really loves you and he's bent over backward to give you everything you need. Where do you expect him to see that kind of money?”

Mona's eyes flared up and she opened her mouth to speak but Amelia laid a hand on her arm to stop her, taking the lead.

“Chloe, Chloe, Chloe…” She asks, walking towards Chloe. “It’s amazing how you think your opinions matter. I know you like him, but for shit's sake, don't fucking take his side!”

Chloe started at the harshness in Amelia's tone. “Melly, I-”

“Open your eyes! Can't you see that he's nothing but a loser?”

“Melly, no. It's not what you think…” Chloe tried to defend herself.

“Don't bother explaining yourself to her, Chloe. As a matter of fact, I might choose you over her.” Sean's eyes were hard, staring directly at Amelia. “I chose wrong before but I certainly won't do that again.”

Amelia bristled. “Are you calling me a mistake?!”

Sean could see the fury in her eyes but he wasn't fazed. It was funny how only a couple of hours ago, he was eager to get married to the love of his life and now…he loathed her more than he could possibly imagine.

“Whatever floats your fucking boat.” He spat.

“Look here, in case you think this is a joke…if you don't pay me the $1 million, I'll make it my life mission to ensure that you rot in hell!” Amelia yelled.

A wicked smile spread across his face. “I'd like to see you try.”

Seeing an opportunity to escape, Sean seized it and darted forward escaping the guards.

To his surprise, the guards let him walk out without any interruption.

Walking into the open space, Sean suddenly felt hot and he shrugged off the suit jacket.

Sean stared into the clouds, filled with different emotions that warred with each other.

Anger, defeat, relief…

“What do I do now?” Sean spoke out loud, wondering what to do now.

His phone beeped in his pants pocket, taking him by surprise.

He ignored it, trying to gather his thoughts.

Another notification came in, followed by another, and with a sigh, Sean withdrew his phone from his pocket nonchalantly flipping through the screen.

There was a message from his bank indicating a new transaction notification from his wallet.

His eyes widened when he saw the amount, wondering if it was a fluke.

Counting the zeroes over and over again to make sure, Sean could hardly believe his eyes.

Who the hell would send him 100 million dollars?

Checking his transaction history, the account was flagged as anonymous, not giving him many details.

Holy. Mother. Fucker!

He was rich!!
