Chapter 8

The taxi stopped at the penthouse, John came down and suddenly became uneasy. It was a gigantic building with an intimidating decor. Wilde’s Villa was great, but Sam’s penthouse was the greatest, according to John. The hotel was one of the top-ranking in Sunview. John looked at his rumpled, grungy clothes and felt nervous. He didn’t know when he stuck his dirty finger in his nose.

“You can’t do that in front of Uncle Sam, you know” Edward had chastened him, so he quickly removed his finger and went to the elevator.

Once the elevator stopped, John found himself at the front door of the penthouse. He sauntered the remaining distance to the door and pressed the bell. Within a few seconds, the door opened, and a young woman stood before him.

John’s heart stopped working for a moment. Standing at the door was Olivia, his wife. Wearing nothing except the towel that she wrapped around her body. Just when he opened his mouth to ask her a few questions, Sam came to the door and encircled his thick hands around her waist. Kissing and smooching her glossy skin. John got annoyed, not minding the status of the man in front of him. He yelled.

“What are you doing with my wife?”

“Your wife?” Sam asked in surprise. He looked at John’s disgusting body and sneered.

“How can you possibly marry such a beautiful woman like Oliva? That will only happen in your dreams,” Sam asked with a disdainful face.

“Don’t mind this dirty bag of a man? I never intended to be named this wife, and we never shared a bed before. So how can he claim to be my husband?” Olivia screeched.

“You are such a shameless woman! How could you do this terrible thing to me?” John let out in bitterness.

His heart was pounding hard, and his soul was breaking into pieces. He had known that Olivia could be cheating on him, but catching her in the act was not what he had bargained for.

“Shameless, you said, but you are a worthless man who can’t keep his wife. You are the fool who can’t take care of his spouse. You should be grateful to my family for taking care of you and your welfare, useless man. Get out of here before I send for security,” Olivia yelled in annoyance.

“Is he your husband?” Sam asked, still in shock.

“Look, Sam, I will never allow this stink man anywhere around me and you, John, get your useless filthy body out of here before I call the security on you.” Olivia groaned.

She was angry. Her intention of gaining favor from Sam has been ruined. Wilde’s business was about to go bankrupt, and Sam was the only one who could help her out. Everything was going fine until John appeared from nowhere.

“Get out!!” she yelled.

Olivia faced Sam. smiling

“Don’t worry about this idiot, please let’s continue with our fun,” she said and grabbed Sam by the neck and started kissing him again.

She glared at John and hardened her kiss. Sam groaned and pulled Olivia into the room, slamming the door after him. John was crushed and he left the hotel devastated and in pain. A flood of tears marred his face as he walked through the reception.

He was still nursing his hurt when a dangerous-looking man grabbed his arms and yanked him to the wall. Clenching his arms so tightly that John won’t be able to escape. John was startled. How could Olivia send some men to beat him up? He thought and stared fearfully at the man.

“Where did you get this amulet?” The man asked, looking at the Amulet John wore around his neck. John became confused and touched the Amulet.

“Who gave you the Amulet?” The man yelled and yanked him harder.

“This… is mine, it belongs…. to..me,” John stammered.

“How did you get that?” The man screamed, and John trembled.

The man smelled nothing but death and he didn’t want to die young. Who has he offended in this life that everything seems to turn against him? What has his old-looking amulet had to do with this man? No one has ever noticed his amulet before except this man. But why?

“How did you get hold of Anderson’s precious stone? Answer me!!” the man roared and dragged him towards his car.

John wore Anderson’s Amulet, which was only made for the family members, so how come John wears the same Amulet,? And he looked nothing like Andersons. The man slammed the door hard and drove the car to Thomas Anderson’s home. Immediately after the car stopped, he pulled John into the large living room and forced him to sit on the cold marble floor.

“Take care of him,” the man instructed one of his colleagues who was guarding the living room.

“Yes, boss,” the guard responded.

The man cast another dreadful gaze on John and headed upstairs. Within a few minutes, the man came back, pulled John up, and dragged him to the staircase. John was nudged into one room. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Inside the room were three beautiful young girls, about nineteen years old. Each of them barely covers their seductive body. John swallowed the lumps in his throat and glared at the man behind him.

“Wash him and get him prepared to meet the boss,” the man said.

“Yes, Mr Greado,” the girls answered in unison.

Grado nodded his head.

“I will wait outside if he gives you trouble. Let me know,” he said and slammed the door.

The girls smiled and led John towards the bathroom. John knew better than to cause trouble. He would never allow Grado, or whatever he is called, to lay a finger on him. He has not yet recovered from the beating Desmond’s men melted on him a few days back. He watched the girls lead him into an exclusive bathroom. John saw steaming hot water that filled a bathtub and assorted expensive toiletries that he had never imagined using in his entire life.

“Please, I don’t have money to pay for all this. Just let me go. I did nothing wrong,” John pleaded. Perhaps the girls would have compassion and beg Grado on his behalf. He thought.
