Chapter 3

Forty minutes later Marcell was still in the same state. Until a cleaning service who got a picket to clean the gym room was surprised to see a man unconscious with blood pouring out.

The cleaning service, named Mike, called out to the people passing by in front of the gym. Asking for help because someone was injured in the gym room. Mike looked so panicked because Marcell's body was limp without the sound of his breathing or his stomach rhythmically rising and falling.

So Mike went to accompany Marcell directly to the hospital with the help of someone who called the ambulance earlier.

As time passed, Mike silently prayed for Marcell's safety. He knew Marcell was nobody and didn't know Marcell. But finding someone lying there, motionless with so much blood was enough to make Mike's heart flutter.

Mike swore this was the scariest thing he'd ever experienced. What if this was a murder?

Seeing as Marcell's body was found in work clothes not gym clothes. Surely the man wasn't having an accident while exercising. Mike also saw the bruises on Marcell's face and body.

At the hospital, the doctor, doctor's assistant and nurses immediately approached when the carcass was unloaded from the ambulance. Marcell even looked like an accident victim because of his battered body and incessant blood flow.

Arriving at the emergency room, the nurse immediately attached the backup cable according to procedure. At that moment, the electrocardiograph turned on, showing Marcell's heart rate. The saturation was low but Marcell didn't look like someone who was short of breath. What was frightening was that the fibrillation waves were flat but showed normal numbers which meant Marcell was still breathing.

The doctor frowned in confusion. How could it be like this. Marcell was like a dead man but still breathing. He wasn't breathing before he was alive. Do you understand? The electrocardiograph showed something that didn't match the reality.

"Get the defibrillator!" the doctor ordered without hesitation.

The doctor's assistant, meanwhile, was wiping the blood and trying to stop the blood that kept coming out. The wound on Marcell's forehead was quite severe.

After the nurse prepared and gave the defibrillator to the doctor. Without further ado, the doctor immediately performed a heart shock on Marcell's chest.

The sound of the defibrillator immediately echoed throughout the room making the occupants of the room immediately focus their eyes on the patient and the electrocardiograph in turn.

Marcell's chest heaved as soon as the device shocked him.

It had been 3 tries with no change making the entire medical staff break out in a cold sweat.

Again the doctor did it and there was no change.

The doctor moved closer and examined Marcell's breathing more closely. There was none, but when the doctor's hand touched Marcell's neck. The pulse was still moving.

The doctor's breathing quickened. He paused and thought about the possibilities.

Marcell Clark was unconscious for 16 hours. In addition to body disorders and electrocardiographs that were not in line. The man was also bleeding out, and the hospital was struggling to find Marcell's family contact. No one came to the hospital, only the cleaning service named Mike who had brought him earlier was still faithfully waiting.

Mike gave permission to the relevant parties not to work first, he knew he also had no money to help pay off Marcell's administration at the hospital. Therefore Mike waited for Marcell to wake up first. Mike waited in the hospital cafeteria while eating dinner because he hadn't eaten since morning.

In the room, Marcell was left alone and his breathing started to calm down.

SYSTEM : "Marcell."

SYSTEM : "Marcell Clark."

The voice from nowhere kept calling Marcell. But strangely the man found it hard to open his eyes. Like he was asleep in a dream.

SYSTEM : "Marcell Clark? Open your eyes and play the game."

What game? Marcell's mind asked.

His body was hard to move, Marcell seemed paralyzed in his sleep.

SYSTEM : "Marcell."

SYSTEM : "Marcell, you have entered the system and cannot leave until the game is completed."

Cold sweat began to pour down Marcell's forehead. His labored breathing told his body to wake up. But it was hard. And the voice kept calling his name hundreds of times.

SYSTEM : "Marcell."

SYSTEM : "Marcell."

Marcell's eyes opened. His heart was racing like after a 5-kilometer run. "Hah.. hah.. hah..hah.." The man had to sit up because of the tightness in his chest.

Moving his eyes slowly, Marcell was amazed to see something in front of him. A computer screen that looked transparent. Strangely, the screen always followed the movement of Marcell's gaze, either sideways up or down.

"What is this?" he said softly, a little frightened. Because he was unconscious and didn't know if someone else was doing bad things to him. Like putting Marcell into an experiment maybe?

SYSTEM : "Hello Marcell Clark. Welcome to the Hermes system. You have activated the system and must complete a challenge to make it disappear from your sight."

A voice either from nowhere or from Marcell's head informed and confused Marcell even more. As soon as the screen immediately changed to the challenge sentence and gave the option "YES" or "NO" in front of him.

Marcell's eyes scrutinized every word written on the system.

SYSTEM : "TAKE THE $1,000,000 IN YOUR ACCOUNT AND SPEND IT IN 3 DAYS."
