Cane’s brows furrowed when he noticed the strange reactions of the group.
“Did the loser also mention Jairo Clubhouse?” he asked. “He did...” Cane’s brows shot up, his eyes widening as a flicker of realization crossed his face before it hardened with his jaw tightening. “Are you serious?” he demanded, his voice laced with irritation. His jaws clenched tighter, anger brewing within him as suspicion crept in– will this loser actually be meeting Janae? “Cane, you don’t have to worry,” Lydia quickly said, shaking her head, “Knowing that bastard’s background, he was definitely lying.” She continued, “Don’t tell me you guys are falling for his tricks just because the information matched. He must have overhead somewhere that Janae would be at Jairo today and intentionally fabricated the story..” “Hmm,” Layla interrupted. “Well, despite knowing that loser for a short period of time, I know he is capable of it.” Cane’s eyes narrowed as their words sank in. He tilted his head slightly, “I guess you’re right…” “…I mean, just the thought that that loser could truly have connections with my Janae is utterly absurd.” He turned to Dustin. “Perhaps, this bastard needs to be taught a lesson,” he stated with a sly smirk. Dustin’s jaw tightened as he considered it. “Dustin, after what he did to you, we must put him in his place!” Resentment flared in Dustin’s eyes as he nodded. “I’m definitely not going down without a fight. He needs to learn not to mess with me.” To Dustin, retaliation was the only way to restore his pride, and he wouldn’t back down until he was satisfied. Meanwhile, Janae and Richard were already meeting at Jairo. Janae smoothed the invisible wrinkles on her designer dress, her fingers fidgeting slightly. When she met Richard’s gaze, she quickly looked away, clearing her throat and forced a casual smile. “So..” Despite being the daughter of the city’s wealthiest tycoon, Janae felt a subtle sense of nervousness and curiosity in Richard’s presence. “Thank you for meeting me,” Richard said, his voice firm. “The herbs I need are quite rare…” he stated and got straight to the point, inquiring about the specific herbs he was searching for. “Wyrmroot.. Solarvine..” Janae repeated Richard’s words, her eyes narrowing. “Every herb you mentioned is indeed very rare.. but there’s a company, Elixirs…” “They host auctions for extremely rare items in various cities, including one in this city every month. I’m quite sure you’d be able to get the herbs you need there,” she said. But Richard didn’t seem satisfied. “Unfortunately I don’t have the time to wait for months. Is there another way?” “Okay, the good thing is that you can directly purchase items from the company without waiting for the auctions, but the prices would be significantly higher.” Richard nodded, a hint of satisfaction on his face. “That’s fine by me,” he agreed. After all, he didn’t lack money. “I will accompany you to the venue to make introductions for you. And.. give me a second,” she said, pulling out her phone. She immediately called the auction house and scheduled an auction for later that day, just a few hours away. “I’ve made arrangements with the auction house,” she said. “Everything should be in place in about four hours.” “Thank you very much,” Richard said, a faint smile curved on his lips. “You’re welcome.” Janae smiled. Though she couldn’t help but wonder why Richard was so eager to obtain these herbs. Could it be connected to a woman, maybe a girlfriend or wife? she wondered. She cleared her throat again, her lips parting as if to speak but she hesitated. She was clearly uncertain about saying what was on her mind. “Uhm, I’ve been wanting to ask,” she finally said. “There’s a prominent figure whose grandfather is gravely ill. Do you mind me sharing your contact details?” “No, I’m sorry,” Richard declined without hesitation. “I don’t have the time,” he stated plainly. Richard had no intention of being charitable to everyone indiscriminately. As Master Jung had taught him; Unending generosity only invites exploitation, and some people would only repay kindness with betrayal. Janae pressed her lips together and nodded. “Alright, I understand.” After a few more discussions about the auction arrangements, Richard left. Richard had decided it was time to find a new place to stay as he didn’t want to stay in Lydia’s home anymore or endure her and her mothers mockery. So, he needed to search for a property. While searching nearby, Richard unexpectedly stumbled upon a young boy in tattered clothes standing in a corner of a small alley. The boy was carrying a frail toddler, no older than a year, on his back. “Here,” Richard said, stretching forth a dollar note to the boy, assuming he was a beggar. The boy shook his head. “I’m not a beggar.” “Do you need your shoes polished? I can do that for you. If you’re not satisfied, I won’t take any payment, I promise,” he said with a warm smile. His face was dirty, but his smile was genuine and pure. “Oh really?” Richard said, surprised by the boy’s self respect. He admired how the child preferred to earn his keep rather than rely on handouts. “I’d like that,” Richard said, and sat on a nearby bench for the boy to polish his shoes. The boy knelt next to him, dropped his small kit on the floor and took the shoes. While the boy worked, Richard watched him curiously. “What’s your name?” He asked, breaking the silence. “Elliot,” the boy replied without looking up, focusing on a stubborn mark. “Where are your parents?” Elliot’s hand stiffened for a second. “Uhm… they passed away.” He hesitated but added, “it’s just me and my little sister now. So I have to look after her.” Richard felt sad. The boy was very young so it must’ve been difficult for him and his sister. “And this,” Richard gestured at the kit, “this is how you get money?” “Yeah. Some days, It’s not enough to keep us going but at least it’s honest,” he shrugged. “You’re remarkable,” Richard said softly, his voice laced with genuine respect for the boy. “All.. done!” he said, smiling at the result of his hard work. “Here’s your shoe,” he said and gently wore it on Richard. “Thank you.” Richard said and handed over a ten dollar note. He stood up, dusting his hand on his worn trousers and took the money. “This is worth more, but I’ll take it,” he said and expressed his gratitude. Richard chuckled. “Wait.” He took out a pen and wrote a note on a piece of paper. “Take this,” he said, handing him the note along with one of Master Jung’s exclusive cards. “Take this card to the entrance of the fancy restaurant downtown, the one where all the rich folks go,” he said. “Show them the card. If anyone recognizes it, give them the note and tell them to follow the instructions if they want to use the card.” “Make sure you don’t lose either. This card could change your life and your sister’s,” he concluded. Elliot inspected the card. He was puzzled but he nodded, “Alright, I’ll do it,” he answered and tucked the card and note into his pocket. “Thank you.”Elliot excitedly raced to the grand entrance of the restaurant. Without hesitation, he walked up to an elegantly dressed couple approaching the entrance.“Hello,” he greeted, eagerly holding up the card. “I have a special offer for you…” The man barely glanced at him before saying, “Not interested.” He then pushed him out of his way with a finger as if swatting an annoying fly. But Elliot blocked their path again with a polite smile. “It’s..” he began, only to be cut off by the woman. She sniffed, her eyes scanning him disdainfully. “Who let a filthy beggar like you stay around here? Get out of my sight now you scumbag!” His face fell. “I’m sorry,” he said and left. Elliot saw a group of men chatting close by so he tried again. “Excuse me,” he said confidently. “Please, can I have a moment? I think you’ll be interested in my special offer.”He held the card up to them, but they kept chatting like he was invisible. Elliot, however, moved closer, trying to get their attention.
Delilah was seated in her sleek office, reviewing documents when a knock interrupted the quiet. “Come in,” she answered, her focus still on the documents. A young lady gently stepped in. “Ma’am,” she bowed. “I bring news about the miraculous doctor.”Delilah’s gaze froze before she looked up at her. “Yes?”“News just came in that the Runo family have just obtained and activated an exclusive Miracle card.”Delilah’s eyes instantly lit, her brows shooting upward. “The Runo family have the exclusive Miracle card?” she repeated. “Yes ma’am”“But how?” she whispered, her brows furrowing slightly. Delilah couldn’t help but wonder how they were able to get their hands on the card when even her couldn’t. For the past few days, she had been trying to get her hands on one of the cards, but her efforts have been to no avail. “Are you sure of this?” she asked. “Yes ma’am,” the young lady replied. “It was confirmed some minutes ago.”“Interesting,” she murmured. “Get the car ready now.” A
Richard arrived at the location designated by who activated the card, waiting for them to send someone to meet him.It was an outdoor dining area. Upon arrival, after Richard gave certain information to the server, she led him to the reserved seat Dustin had already paid for. And moments later, she brought Richard a glass of wine. “Thank you,” he said, engrossed in the details from his master and wondering who had activated the card. Just then, a luxury car pulled up in front, and Dustin stepped out. When he looked in the reserved area, he saw Richard sitting there. His expression instantly hardened. “Tch. I don’t know why this bastard is here,” he whispered, guessing it was merely a coincidence. Dustin then scanned the area, searching intently for any sign of the doctor, but when he didn’t see any sign of him, he reluctantly glanced back at Richard who was sipping his wine.“The doctor must be running late,” Dustin muttered, stealing a glance at his watch before approaching Ri
“You’ve got steady hands, Richard,” Sia whispered seductively as she stared lustfully at him, biting her lower lips. “Bet they’re good for more than just handling herbs.”Richard flashed her a quick awkward smile, “mm-hmm” and returned his focus to sorting the herbs. Suddenly, a clattering sound echoed in the room and when Richard turned to see, he was met by a familiar sight; Katya’s lacy pants.Just now, she had intentionally dropped the container at Richard’s feet and leaned over to pick it up knowing her short skirt would lift just enough to reveal her underwear. Richard felt his face heat up and he quickly looked away, pretending not to see anything. “Richard!” An urgent voice burst through the door. “Is there an emergency?” His voice was urgent as he washed his hands, ready to respond. “It’s Ginny! She- she’s not breathing well. You need to hurry!” the apprentice gasped.Without hesitation, he left for her ward. Richard walked in just to see Ginny almost naked. With a s
After saying goodbye to his seniors, Richard finally stepped out of the clinic, and immediately he noticed a line of luxury cars just parked nearby. It was strange as this wasn’t a place that often saw such display of wealth, but he brushed it off and kept walking.“Excuse me!” a voice called out.Richard looked and saw a young, beautiful woman approaching him, with a man behind her. “Hi, sorry to bother you. Is Dr Jung available today?” she asked, a hint of urgency in her tone. “No, he isn’t. He left the clinic a long time ago.”Her shoulders slumped slightly as a quiet sigh escaped her. “How long? When will he be back?” she desperately asked. “For about two years now and I don’t know when he will be back. Do…” “Two years?!” Daniel, the man with Janae snapped, his voice sharp with frustration. Their grandfather was seriously ill and they had come, hoping that the legendary Dr Jung could treat him. But unfortunately, their hopes were shattered. “I knew this crap was a fraud!” D
“Look, I had no idea Sir Morrigan had fallen into a coma. In fact I’d like to see for myself.”Delilah frowned, “Are you trying to insinuate that I’m lying or something? You know what, follow me,” she ordered and led him to a room. She decided that she wouldn’t argue with him. She would just take him to see for himself then maybe he would finally give up on the engagement. Richard’s eyes widened slightly at the sickly old man lying unconscious on the bed. He increased his pace to take a look and it was really Sir Morrigan. All the color from the old man’s face had drained. Even his lips were chapped and purple. Every breath he took seemed to drag on forever and he looked as if he were barely hanging on, like a light slowly dimming. Richard lifted his hand gently and took a look at his palm, “Oh no! He has been afflicted with Viperis.”“What the hell is Viperis?” Delilah asked, her face twisting into a scowl. Richard’s expression grew grim as he shook his head, “Sir Morrigan is s
”I’ve only been able to keep him stable for now but he’s still unconscious, and his stability won’t last very long,” Doctor Ben stated. Despite the tension, he had managed to make the old man stable, though his breathing was shallow and irregular. Collin wiped the sweat from his aching forehead. “Please doctor,” he implored with a trembling voice. “Whatever it takes to save him, do it. Anything at all, just save him. We can’t lose him.”With a deep, reluctant sigh, the doctor spoke up. “There’s one more option,” he murmured, a hint of uncertainty in his voice. “It’s the only option left. It might be able to temporarily keep him alive, but it would put him in a permanent coma with uncertain chances of waking up.”Collins‘ brows shot upward in fear, his eyes widening as the words sank in. “A coma… with no guarantee?” He swallowed hard, his eyes darting around as he wrestled with the decision. He hesitated as the risk was high, but the thought of losing his father without trying eve
Lydia raised an eyebrow and let out a short dismissive laugh. She opened the door wide and stepped aside, “Richard, the Rolls-Royce you rented and the actor you hired are here for you.” Without giving it a second thought, she already assumed that Richard had formulated all of it to pretend he was wealthy in front of them. “Good day sir.” The young man bowed. “Your ride is right outside.”Richard immediately recognized that they were from Janae and got up to leave. “I’ll be on my way now,” he told Sir Wilson and bid him farewell. Lydia kissed her teeth loud enough for him to hear, “You’re so pathetic, for real. At least you should have made your looks align with the wealth you’re trying to fake before anything.”Richard ignored her, walked past her and left. Lady Wilson crossed her arms and laughed. “Did he really think we’d be that gullible? Renting a top luxury car and bringing in actors.”“He thought we’d be dazzled and fall at his feet,” Lydia replied and laughed. Sir Wilson
