He takes some step closer and discovers that it's a Built-in solar microchip Apple watch, an imaginary watch which was designed by the famous inventor, Lusik Preston, two centuries ago to be invented under the light of futuristic tech knowledge. This watch was going to implant microchips into a human lasting for as long as the individual wanted it to, this would give him super knowledge to conquer in any facet of life, the invisible microchips which would go straight to the brains of an individual after the activation button. For the watch he pressed, it would also be able to increase the physical capabilities of the individual above that of any ordinary human. It could make one a superhuman within seconds but tasks need to be completed to achieve this level up.
To many it was a joke, a mere imagination which could never come true in the real world and the funniest part of it was that Preston said that only one would be produced in the entire world and that person who would be lucky to stumble upon it would be the greatest of all time in whichever field he is. People attached much mockery to this statement because inventions couldn't just be one.
Which invention is always one in the entire world? People always asked this question and Preston met with much criticism until he died. Wenton himself got to learn of this from a history book he read while in junior high school. He thought it to be a product of imagination and unreal until this moment.
He is the lucky one!
The object right before him matches exactly as the image of the watch portrayed by the nineteenth century technologist and inventor.
"Wenton, you are the lucky one! The system requires you to lay claim to it. Press the red light button for activation." He stops, listens to the sound, it repeats itself again, this time around with a ding sound.
"You are Destined to work with the Built-in solar microchip Apple watch, take me along with you, I'll be your gateway to stardom." The symbol of a star footballer appears on the screen. He gets afraid to witness a non-living object speaking like a human being, with a human voice. How did it know his name? He suspects some magic to be playing alongside it.
How would something predicted by a technologist two years ago appear right in front of him calling him by his name?
He wants to be a star but not through some magical ways, he wants his capabilities to come naturally although he is not a talented player, he had acquired the skills he got before he started going down in football from training, he is destined to be a trained player.
Not getting the whole scene before him, he decides to run away to escape this. From the novels he has read, systems do accompany one for a lifetime, once you activate a system to yourself, you would be under its power until you are dead. He doesn't want to associate with something that would change him from a normal human being to something else. Another known fact that scares him is the set of tasks required to be done and the penalty of not doing them which is always death.
"I don't want to die before my time." Wenton knows that he is a human and can make mistakes at any time, besides he finds himself playing unserious with things he should be serious about. He imagines himself repeating this trait with the system's task, his life would just be cut short.
The next available decision for him is to run away and he attempts to take to his heels as earlier planned but he can't lift up his legs. It seems like some invisible forces were holding on right to his leg, he can feel some airy pressure around them.
"This might be an imagination," he reasons. "Let me try again, this time around I might be able to escape." It's at this moment he realizes what is just going on is far from ordinary.
"If you want to leave this place, bend and pick me up!" It orders him. Having no choice, he bends and takes it off the ground, then there is a bit of force released on his legs. "Put me on your left wrist!" It orders again for the second time. Wenton pauses to think about this.
What if as he puts it at his risk, he automatically activates it? What if this system is just not telling him what is going to happen when he places it on his wrist?
Thoughts like these among others burdens him. He wants to learn the truth about this as soon as possible so he doesn't end up making a lifetime mistake he would always live to regret. He gets reluctant to place it over his wrist as directed, hoping that the spell cast against his legs would leave him but it doesn't. He still can't lift up his legs or make any movement. After standing in this way for an hour, he decides to succumb to pressure and as he places the watch on his hand, buckling it up, the blue light disappears forming a straight ray and travels straight to his head. He tries to stop with his other hand and fingers but the attempt fails since it's air. He starts to scream as some changes begin to occur inside him.
His weak, human brain was getting upgraded to a computerized memory.
"First mission successful!"
"Automatic activation of System!"
The system delivers a ding sound.
"A number of tasks required for customized activation."
"The user would have this system bound to him forever."
A task button pops up on the screen of the watch. Curiosity causes Wenton to click on it. As he clicks on the virtual button, three tasks are displayed for him to choose one.
Go back to your team and apologize!
Kneel and apologize before your captain!
Deliver a speech online that would make the world give you a second chance!
Reward.
Activation of the system with your name and permanent bond.
Penalty.
Permanent degradation to a worst state and failure in whichever areas of life the user transfers to.
He has thought that it was death but the consequences are even more than death, it's quite painful for him to go below where he now stands. What if he chose to leave football, he will still fail at whatever facet he decided to go into. As it has been mentioned, he would not be able to harm himself in any way no matter how intense the depression and pain is. He would have to live and bear the effects.
"Your time starts now and ends in the next two hours!"
"System would be automatically made to carry out the penalties shown in the case of failure to undertake the task."
Wenton goes back to the initial place he sat on when he entered the woods. He clicks on the task button and the list of tasks appears. He raised his gaze to the instruction above them, he had to choose only one task from among the three and anyone he chooses, he must complete within the next two hours. He thinks for a while thinking of the one to choose, he needed to go for something which would be quite easier. As if this system knew, going back to the team base or going to kneel before Iniesta to apologize would be the simplest ones but he is sure to find no one upon driving back. They had lost a vital game, no one, not even the managerial staff would be found. They have all gone home by now to mourn their defeat. Everywhere would just be empty except for the heavily armed security men guarding the base. He has no available option other than the third, which is the hardest. About eighty percent of the English fans have voiced their anger on him, calling him many names on social me
After everything, Wenton has no other place to go but his family, he would have gone home since except for the downcast spirit cast upon him, the mockery and made-to-feel-bad trait which his mother would likely portray towards him, he didn't want a situation where his depression would get worse. But despite what he has found, he is not going to tell it to anyone until his mind tells him so. Getting into his car, he drives home. The apple watch on his hand becomes instantly invisible, only he knows something is on his hand. Even as it's invisible, it still works if the situation requires it to. The long drive becomes a bit shorter and adventurous, more interesting than when he was coming to the woods. Of course his coming had nothing of interest, he came to avoid the pressures of life, then the attempt to commit suicide came in. Wenton looks out of the window of his car, admiring the beautiful houses, cars and people he passes on the road. He realizes that there is more to life than
Imikah starts to vent the whole of his anger on Wenton. He had really promoted his skills to his uncle, not like he was lying because being in the same club with him, the Sporting Stars Academy FC, he saw how skilled his friend was. He didn't expect to disappoint. Each uncle even called to scold him for lying to him, then he got angry and sent to him tons of videos of the best performances Wenton had in the Academy FC."Then why is he playing so poorly?" Beckham asked but he had already got him annoyed, he read his message but wouldn't reply to it. "You are the cause of the insults and shaming I received from my uncle before he realized the bitter truth. He even said that he was threatened to be sacked by the management if Wenton didn't improve in the next three matches they would be having. He got ridiculed for bringing in the worst player the team ever had. Wenton upon hearing this almost cries, he can't hear this as he starts crying. What he expects of himself is not what he has
He arrives at the living room to find his dad still watching the TV. With a confused face, he walks over to him and sits on the couch beside him, then looks at his face in an indirect way of asking him why he called. "Wenton, I want you to go get some things for me at the mall, I feel so fatigued. I would have gone by myself." He hands over his card to him and a list of items on a piece of paper. "You can buy yourself anything but it shouldn't be more than eighty dollars. Is that okay?" "Yes," he replied with a smile. "Thanks dad." He hurries out of the room, he never expected to get an eighty dollar gift from his dad most especially as he had disappointed the whole family. While on his way to the mall, he wonders why he didn't call Samuel. Then he recalls that the last time Samuel, his elder brother was asked to go pick some ordered stuff from the same supermarket, it nearly took him a whole day to return home. He later came back with the excuse that he met a friend of his whom he
The training begins, with the coach asking Wenton to run around the field ten times during the training duration as punishment for not performing well during the last match. Mike, who is the head coach and is in charge of decision making in the team, does this in an effort to prevent Wenton from partaking in the training. He knows quite well that if he doesn't take part in the training, there is no way he would be part of the next squad that would play with their next match coming in the coming week, a sure date yet to be fixed although it's likely gonna be Tuesday. "To join the training, you would have to run ten laps around the field," he said to him. Wenton stood there watching him in surprise, he started imagining how he was going to run around the standard football pitch which is one hundred and five meters in length and sixty-eight meters in width. Such a great stress. Though he tried to plead and waited to see if he would change his mind, nothing happened. He even let him go t
With such a wonderful performance at the match, the reporters take their cameras to Wenton. They ask him so many questions all at once, wanting to know the secret behind his sudden excellent performance. "Wenton, you had an incredible performance today during the fake match, as the best players in your team or playing against your team couldn't stand against you. What's the secret to this?" One of them asks a female reporter while the others bring their recording devices to record what he is going to say. "I will love to attribute my performance to personal drills, hard work and believe in myself. Since I disappointed the team, the fans and the world of football by my poor performance yesterday, I resolved to step up to the plate, train harder by myself and today I'm seeing the result!" He declares with so much confidence which is motivated by the system. He would never say anything about the support he is getting from the system, even to his parents and close friends, they wouldn't
His mother actually called to congratulate him, she had watched him play in a fake match which had the same laws as a real standard match. His father and siblings got the phone to hail him for the excellent performance. Wenton couldn't contend his joy, this is the first time every member of his family, even his other two sisters are showing interest and are happy for what he did in his field. They have always proven to always be indifferent, not having any interest. The next call after this, he directs to Imikah, his best friend. "Hey bro, how are you doing?" He hails as Imikah picks the call. The first reaction of his friend is a laughter of joy. "Don't tell it's your system working, you really have great luck. I saw you play today, you really shocked everyone. Have you checked social media?" Inikah asos."No! What's happening on social media?" He asks with confusion and excitement, he wants to know as soon as possible, but he can't wait, he wants Imikah to tell him at once. "You
A warning had already been issued, so it's left for them to abide by this to have a safe and memorable adventure for good. Wenton is resolved to keep all the rules he had learnt about this place because he wouldn't want to be a victim. His friends walk into the alien territory with him, holding their phones and taking pictures of what the place is like, what they would show at their respective homes when they arrive. Wenton had his mom and sister specially asking for the pictures and even the videos, so he doesn't have an excuse for not bringing home what he was asked to. "Why is it that this place looks so unique and mysterious?" Mike who had followed them here asks. They sat at the platform on the floor to debate on the topic Mike had just brought, coupled with the fact that they had brought a lot of stuff to enjoy the picnic with. "This is a dangerous topic!" Wenton says with a sigh, though young in age, he forms to be someone advanced in age. He doesn't necessarily mean this but
