Chapter 8

The second half starts after a thorough scolding of Wenton from the coach and the senior players in the dressing room. He vows to change his luck even if fate was actually against him. The wings are now interchanged and they take the left wing. This is not the problem to him, whichever wing they took, he was going to try his best.

He increases the speed at which he races at the opponent in possession of the ball who is advancing towards the goal box to score against them, it happens that he is the only player close to Gibbs who races at a terrific speed, a slight dribble is involved and in the next possible chance of him to kick the ball away from his foot, something distracts him, he looks elsewhere and Gibbs takes this chance to score against the English Champions leaving them on a 2-0 aggregate. Everyone in support of the English side turns red with fury. Most of the fans take to the official Twitter handle of the team tagging his name and making so many criticisms, the most prominent ones calling on the team to terminate his contract.

A fan even calls him good-for-nothing. His family who are watching from hope, together with Imikah have given up hope on him, for the match wondering what is going on. The most understanding among the fans suggest that it's the pressure of playing against such a strong team for the very first time that is making Wenton make a lot of mistakes. They urge the team not to terminate his contract but give him more time to develop, more chances. Though this controversial plea seeks to gather momentum, the critic's are getting the upper hand and as a result, he is substituted and made to stay on the bench.

The camera shows him wiping his tears. He had let down his country, his family and friends, he just didn't have any excuse right now. He's quite sure that he wouldn't be included in the coming two matches. That's the real issue here and if things keep on being like this, he might be relegated to the U-23 team, the Flying Champions. Most certain for him is that if he can't level up, the number ten jersey would be taken away from him and given to someone else. All these culminates in a severe form of depression for him, pessimism fills up his thoughts and he once again wants to give up. Immediately after the match, he is going to hand in a resignation letter. Football is not for him, he would find another area of life to fit into, an area of life where he would be in absolute control, no one would care whether he is doing well or not.

He makes this plan already inside him. At the eighty-seventh minute, a few minutes to closing the match, Andrea scored making the aggregate change to 3-1. He had tried for the club although it wasn't taking them anywhere. They had lost already, no miracle was going to happen within three minutes, even if such miracle happens elsewhere, it wouldn't happen here because everyone on the side of the English Champions have lost the courage to fight on, they now see it as useless and a waste of energy, they vow to deal with Wenton at the dressing room. As if he knows, he changes up and finds his way out before his teammates get to come back from the field.

He had disappointed his family, so he wasn't going home. They would scold him, a lot of blame was ready for him, not talking of Imikah, he was sure that he would call to ask why he played like that. Realizing this on time and coupled with the fact that he had no strength in him, he switched off his phone.

"I just want to be on my own." He enters his car and drives many miles to the woods, a popular, free attraction site where bored individuals and those who are tired of life do visit. One of the features they like about this place is its quietness and seclusion, you can roam an entire area without seeing anyone but you don't care to go far inside because you might lose track and not know how to come out again.

This is the desired place Wenton is going to, it's the perfect place for him to sit on the grass and shed all the tears in the world. It's that part of the day where the light from the sun would be reflected as rays on the ground, adding more splendor to the scene.

"I won't go back today, I'm going to die here." All of a sudden, suicidal attempts comes over him, something he didn't even expect. His depression has been just to come here, shed all the tears on his eyes till there was none, then he would have a few minutes of contemplation over his life. When it was getting late, based on what his watch says, he would get back into his car and drive off, straight home where he wouldn't eat but go straight to bed. For the resignation, tomorrow before the players arrive for training, he would have already reached the personnel unit of the team and handed over his resignation letter, giving a copy also to the coach who is expected to be an hour earlier than the players on training days.

These were his plans but now something else has totally taken control of him, he wants to kill himself and end it all. "Should I switch on my phone and post a final word to Imikah, family and the fans?" He asks himself, a voice tells him otherwise.

It's better to leave them wandering in search of you, they will miss you more!

This seems true and he decides to follow this. Since he isn't with anything to take his life with, this urge leads him deeper into the woods with the hope that he would find a sharp object which he would use in taking his own life. Two miles without seeing anything, he stumbles upon a metallic digital watch emitting blue light around it, it seems like what he normally sees in movies.
