Chapter Six: She deserves the best.

Archibald took out an American Express Black Card with the name Bruce Ace on it.

"That's yours," Archibald said.

Bruce's face lit up immediately. "Is that what I think it is?"

"Bruce Ace, your net worth is over $700 billion," Archibald spelled it out and Bruce froze.

He was definitely dreaming. There was no way a penniless fellow would turn a billionaire overnight and not just any billionaire, the richest person in existence.

"I still can't believe this isn't a dream."

"Should I pinch you?" Archibald grinned and Bruce laughed.

"I should call Jade and tell her everything right now. She'd freak out," Bruce said excitedly. He took out his phone.

"Who's Jade?" Archibald asked.

"She's my billionaire wife?" Bruce answered nonchalantly.

"Billionaire wife?"

Bruce laughed when he saw the look on Archibald's face. "Oh, Jade's the daughter of a billionaire. Long story short, today I got married to the daughter of a billionaire when I should have gotten married to Claire, a girl I've loved all my life. The in-law of my billionaire wife rejected me though."

Bruce went on to tell him all the events that had taken place.

"Wow! What a day!"

"You can say that again."

"So, your in-laws rejected the richest man on earth without knowing?" Archibald laughed.

"I guess so."

"Hilarious. Who is Jade's father?"

"J. J. Fulton."

"Jade's a Fulton? You're definitely not telling her about yourself." Archibald frowned. "Athen is kind of close to Fulton. If J. J. Fulton knows your identity, Athen would. Athen must not know who you are until you've dealt with him."

"Oh! So, I have to keep this from Jade."

"Yes, you have to."

Bruce's face fell. Jade was nice. It would be nice if she could share in his newfound joy. The news of the death of his parents sank in again and the zeal to avenge their deaths swelled.

"I've not met this Jade, but from all you've said, she seems nice. You might feel the need to tell her, but you must not. Jade's the daughter of Athen's closest partner. I guess Bryan, the first son of Athen, was the one who was betrothed to her."

"You guessed right," Bruce replied.

"So where would you sleep tonight?"

"In this bar. That was the plan."

"Why don't I take you to one of your father's houses which is quite close by?" Mr. Archibald and Bruce nodded.

The next day, Bruce went back to the Fultons’ house. He made sure he got there when everyone was asleep and he snuck into Jade's room.

He met her sitting on her bed and staring at the door. It was like she awaited his return.

Bruce took another look at her face. Her eyes were red and puffy. She had dark circles and bags under them too.

"You did not sleep." Bruce frowned.

"I felt guilty for making you sleep outside after all I've made you pass through." Jade bowed her head in remorse.

"I slept in a house. I did not sleep outside."

"I thought you had nowhere to sleep."

"I didn't, but a good Samaritan helped me." Bruce's face glowed.

"He helped you without something in return?" Jade shook her head. "I doubt that. In this neighborhood, nothing goes for nothing."

"Uh—" Bruce hated to lie, but he had to. He heaved a sigh and then opened his mouth to continue talking. "I went to the bar yesterday night and when I got there, a man was harassing a young lady, so I fought the man to stop. The relative turned out to be a relative of a really rich man. I told him my plight and he gave me the keys to one of his mansions. He said I could go there with anyone anytime I want since he does not use the house."

"He did?" Jade's face lit up and Bruce nodded with a feigned smile. He felt bad for lying to her.

"And I think I should stay there until your family finally accepts me."

"If you're going, I'm coming with you. We're legally married after all. If you leave me behind, my family might still try to marry off."

After getting Mr. Fulton's permission, Bruce took Jade along with him to the house Mr. Carter gave him.

The house Bruce took her to wasn't a regular one. The building was ancient but exquisite. It was like a castle. The kind you would see in a Disney princess movie.

Bruce smiled to himself as she looked at the house in awe.

"Is this the place?" Jade asked. She believed that they had probably lost their way.

"Yes. This is it. Shocking, isn't it?"

"Very shocking? How rich is this good Samaritan? I wonder what the house he stays in looks like."

"Are you sure you don't mind staying with me in a house that belongs to someone else? Aren't you scared of being looked down on?"

"This house is dope. I think I like it here. As for what the others would think, I don't give a damn. Even though the condition we got married in wasn't very good, you're still my husband and I should be anywhere you are."

"You don't mind that I'm a pauper."

Jade shook her head. "I don't."

Bruce smiled. She was ready to start from scratch with him. Girls like Jade were rare and he promised himself to take good care of Jade and never let any harm come her way.

He wished he could scream at the top of his voice and tell Jade that he was now the richest man on earth; that all those who had mocked them could now pay.

"What do you think of the house?" Bruce asked and she beamed.

"This place is beautiful and huge. It's scary to stay alone here though. Were you seriously planning to stay here alone?" Jade turned around to have a good look at the place. "Thank goodness I came here with you. I love this place."

Bruce was glad to see that Jade loved the place. He thought she would be uncomfortable, but she fared well.

Jade took her pick of one of the rooms and Bruce picked another room for himself.

"I want to try applying for a job tomorrow," Jade began after she finished watching a movie on N*****x with Bruce. "I'm a Yale MBA graduate and it's time I put that to good use."

"Of course, you should totally apply for a job if you want to. I can be your house husband."

Jade burst into laughter. "House husband?"

"Yeah, do you mind me being your house husband?"

Jade's laughter increased. She shook her head. "I don't. Just that house husband is a really funny word to say. As for being my househusband, it's alright." She patted his head like a mother would to a child. "I'd take care of the both of us."

"Won't it be weird?" Bruce asked.

"Weird? Well, I'd choose this weird relationship over an abusive one."

"What would you have done if you hadn't met me?"

"I'd have left the country with a lot of money and started a new life," Jade replied to Bruce's question, laughing.

"Then why didn't you do that?"

"Well, that was the plan before I saw you jump off that bridge. Dude, what were you thinking? That Claire girl wasn't even a 10. Nothing to die for. I realized you needed my help. I decided to make an offer that'll bring both of us gain. Unfortunately, you lost your job because of me, but I'm a little happy that you're free from that Boss of yours. He doesn't look like a good one. I'm happy I set you free from him."

"So you're happy that I've lost my job?" Bruce feigned a frown at her and she giggled.

"Yes, I'm happy. You should be happy too. The day you left Claire and that asslicking boss of yours, you got to meet a good Samaritan who gave you a castle to live in."

Bruce smirked.

"So, which company do you think I should try?" Jade asked. "I don't want any company that's in any way connected to my father's company."

"You can try AAB groups."

Jade laughed. "Good joke."

"That wasn't a joke." Bruce frowned. AAB groups were his. Jade would definitely get a job there if she wanted to.

"For some reason, Astor Ace and Mr. Carter, the man you met, hate my family. He seems cordial with my father. They've even had one-on-one conversations a few times, but on several occasions, my father has tried to work with AAB groups, because a deal with them would be extremely good for Tekbos, but he often gets rejected. The truth is, AAB groups can't accept a Fulton no matter how qualified he or she is. Just like how they can't accept an Athen. I don't know why though."

Bruce remembered what Mr. Carter told him in his car. Bruce wondered why he avoided the Fultons. J. J. Fulton was just an ignorant friend of Nicholas Athen. He had nothing to do with his parent's death.

Bruce shrugged. After how badly they had treated him, Bruce concluded that the Fultons deserved it. Of course, Jade was excluded. She deserved the best.

"Where would you apply for a job then?" Bruce asked.

"I'd try Alpub. It's a large marketing firm and I heard there's a vacancy there. Their net worth is huge and they are doing well," Jade replied. "I hope they accept me."

"You graduated from Yale University, an Ivy League college. Why won't you be accepted? You're qualified," Bruce reassured her and she smiled.

He smiled back at her. If Jade wants to work in Alpub, then that's what she'd get.

Bruce has leaped to the top. It was time to help those who were kind to him and destroy those who mistreated him.
