Rejecting her offer

“A billionaire is willing to pay you a sum of ten million dollars to divorce Samantha. It's not as if you can do anything for her anyway, so take the money and leave.” Rachel said and pushed the case further to him. Disdain etched on her face as she watched him.

Ever since he married into the family, he had never supported it with any cent. His academic result was nothing but nonsense. He couldn't get even a cleaner job, so what's the use of staying married?

“You can use the money to start up a new life far away from here. Ten million can change your worthless life into something worth living for, don't you think?” She asked sarcastically.

“Mother, do I look like someone who could be bought with money? Or do you think I can be bought, similar to how the billionaire bought you off to come and bribe me?” Eric was pissed, but he hid it under a fake smile as he spat.

“What the heck? Bought? I am not that cheap, you know!” She fumed.

“Then why did you collect the money? I knew he must have given you some, or else you wouldn't have been moved to support him.” Eric countered her, smirking.

“You know, I might have been willing if the billionaire was not so stingy to offer me just 20 million dollars.” Eric grinned as he walked towards the briefcase.

“If he had been willing, and given up all his property, then added to give up his life with it, I might have agreed, or what do you think?” He taunted more.

She was taken aback by how striking his words were. Though it was true, no one was there when the whole thing happened. Moreover, the billionaire was more than capable. If Samantha should be with him, she would enjoy all the luxury she wanted and also Rachel thought she could benefit from it.

“Insolence!” Rachel snapped as she jumped on her feet.” He didn't bribe me, I just saw he is a suitable person compared to you. He is rich, handsome, and capable but look at you, you looked like someone who crawled out of a pit.” Rachel grinned as she ridiculed him.

“But I am more handsome than your husband. If I crawled out from a pit, then he must have crawled out of a toilet sink. Don't you think?” Eric's words struck right at her chest and she couldn't breathe.

Her eyes turned red, and her chest puffed like she was going to explode. Seeing this, Eric grinned more, and she almost jumped on him, but then she didn't after a thought crawled into her head.

She then sat down calmly like she wasn't the one yelling just a while ago.

“I knew you would say this. You have eyes for big things, huh? How about this?” She grinned and pulled out another case, making it two.

“This is another ten million dollars. Now, what do you think?” She raised a brow at him. Her mind had concluded that there was no way he would reject twenty million when he had nothing.

Eric smiled. He stood up and picked the cases, then walked towards her and poured out all the money on the floor.

“My wife is not for sale. There is no amount of money you'll offer me that I will collect. Stop wasting your time!” Eric grinned instead, looking like he was enjoying the whole thing he was doing.

Once again, Rachel was stunned. The audacity of Eric had grown extremely high. If she was told he was going to reject this sum, then she could have argued to death.

He was the same person who always came to her to ask for a few dollars, yet he was the same person rejecting millions. Hilarious right?

“Why are you being such a pest? Don't you know that you have ruined my daughter's life? Don't you know you are like a curse, depriving her of good luck?” Rachel was overwhelmed.

“And who is the good luck? Is it the person you want to sell your daughter to that you are calling such?” Eric said expressionless.

“Don't you care about your daughter's happiness?” He raised a brow at her.

“And who tells you she's happy around you? If it wasn't for me giving her some penny, both of you could have died of hunger! Just look at you. You are so shameless!” Rachel spouted.

Eric felt hit by those words but quickly brushed it off. His wife was kind enough to stay with him when he had nothing, but now things would be different. He had sworn to make things better for her and make her enjoy to the fullest.

“My wife didn't ask me to leave her, that should tell you she's happy with me. If you can accept that then you and that billionaire can try to do your worst but let me warn you,” Eric let out a smile that sent shivers.

“I won't spare anyone who makes my wife uncomfortable. That's how ruthless I can be.” He continued.

“Ooh, well, what can a dog like you do? With the snap of his fingers, you will be wiped off the surface of this earth. You better go down to the floor and take this money. Don't worry, I will tell Samantha, you figured you would do her no good, that's why you left.” Rachel snickered.

“Do you know what you sound like?” Eric suddenly said, ignoring her words. Rachel was dazzled. She didn't know what he meant by those words, so she could only stare at him.

“You sound so cheap!” Eric smiled and walked off the door chucking.
