CHAPTER ELEVEN

His eyebrows furrowed staring right into his eyes as random thoughts ran through his mind.

"What could that even be?" He thought in his head.

Without spitting out a single word from his mouth, he waited patiently for Mr. Blakes to state what was wrong but he didn't seem to be ready to say that any time soon.

"And that would be?" He finally had to break the overbearing silence in the room.

"Your grandfather told me to inform you that your father is not in good condition." He noted.

He was taken aback by the words and didn't want anything to happen to the closest relative that he just meant.

Right from the point where he could not see him, he knew already that something was wrong.

"We should get going in that case." He turned around towards Mr. Blake

He was led to the car park by Mr. Blake and they got into a white Porsche.

His heart raced fast as random thoughts ran through his mind and when he could no longer take it, he Paced out through the window just to view the city and get his mind away from troubling news.

But no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't get his mind away from it.

"We are here." Mr. Blakes finally announced.

He jumped down slowly from the car and sipped a long breath at the sight of the massive hospital building that stood before him.

"Please come with me, sir Ethan." His hands swept towards Ethan in a gesture to lead the way and Ethan nodded his head.

The walk seemed to be like forever as they screened through the VIP section.

Finally, he drew a stop before a door and opened it slowly.

"Here. I will wait outside." He Said not even daring to look into the room.

Ethan walked into the polished room and was greeted by a fresh scent of Methanol.

The room was perfectly polished and he could see his grandfather with his walking stick at the far end.

His eyes scanned through the room as he Walked gradually towards his grandfather, his steps alerting them that someone was around.

Mr. Geftan swept his eyes across to him and tried to force through a smile just to put away the worries of his grandson but no matter how hard he tried, it just wouldn't be possible because the pain in his heart was more.

He inched closer to his grandfather until he got over to him and bent down towards his father.

There was an Oxygen pipe in his nostrils and he could not help but remember the last time that he meant after he saved his life.

Apart from the fact that he was his father, he was also a hero and his savior.

"Is this the reason that he could not see me while I was still unconscious?" he inquired and he nodded his head.

"I am Sorry about this Kid. Your father has been sick for a while now." He added With a trace of grief in his eyes.

"And the doctors, they say that nothing can be done about it." He sighed deeply. A sigh that carried more meaning than words.

His curiosity was framed as to what could be wrong with his father at that point.

His heart inched to know every single bit about what was wrong with his Father staring at his pale face.

"I am here now and I am going to make sure that he is okay." He added holding the hands of his grandfather tightly.

"But what is wrong with my father?" He inquired further.

"I can't even tell."

"We came back from the party one day and after that, he started coughing out blood. The doctors said that there was toxin in his blood and for that type, there sadly isn't a cure for it."

The expression on his face tightened and he turned around towards him and held him tightly by his shoulders, staring right into his eyes.

"I must tell you. The city is not safe for people like us for now so I want you to keep your identity hidden. Let the people keep guessing who the newly found heir is.

Ethan thought about the call he had received the previous night.

"Could that be a clue?" He thought in his head.

He was burning With so much excitement to ask his grandfather for another but staring at the pitiful eyes he threw the thoughts away from his mind.

"This is certainly not the perfect time to tell him about it." He thought in his head.

"There is always another time and if he wanted me to know about it, he certainly would have told him." The thoughts sprang up in his head.

He rose from the point that he squatted and was about to turn around but then, his grandfather stopped him.

There was only one thought that was embedded in him now but that was certainly not what he wanted to discuss With him.

"Now that your father is sick, you know that you have a lot of responsibilities as the heir of the family right?" He noted staring right into his eyes.

Ethan drew a really deep breath, already knowing that with great power come great responsibilities and that was something that he was already prepared for.

"Yes, grandfather."

His grandfather resisted for a while before saying what else he wanted to say.

"And as the heir, there is something crucial that you are lacking."

His eyes farrowed but he was not directed towards his grandfather. He skimmed through his head. Trying to think of a possibility of what he could be but he could not get himself to place his thoughts on anything.

"What could that be grandfather." He finally decided to place the ultimate wisdom in the hands of his grandfather.

"Are you married? After all the investigation that I carried out, I didn't tend to find out anything about that part of you." His grandfather revealed.

His mouth broke into a dry cough almost immediately. Memories of his past flushed through his head and for him, it was something that was not worth thinking about.

"Why aren't you saying anything kid? I am not as old school as you think I am. You can always tell me about your romantic life." A grin finally formed on his face.

"Should I tell him, that my romance life was a disaster?" He thought in his head not knowing what else to do at that point.

The cough died down slowly and he returned his gaze to his grandfather.

"I'm sorry. But I just have to lie to you this time." He thought in his head as a long sigh escaped from his lips.

"I don't have any lady in my life for now. I was really busy in my previous life." His answer was swift wanting to end the topic as soon as he could not he was not yet done with him.

"Is that so?" The hands of his grandfather caressed his beard which had completely turned gray already.

"Okay. I am sorry to bring this up again but then. Why were you several beaten that night?" His next question threw him off balance but he tried as much as he could not to show it.

"That night..." His words broke into a stutter.

"Gulp."

A large lump went down his throat as he continued to stare at his grandfather who stared back at him waiting eagerly for answers.
