"Your Majesty, this is blood I took from the boy His Highness, Prince Adrian saved"

King Robert was surprised by what he heard as his eyebrows twitched.

"Blood?", he repeated.

"Yes, Your Majesty"

He put the bottle down on the small round table before he started explaining what he meant.

"Your Majesty, that boy had been corrupted by a highly corrosive form of dark energy. The dark energy was potent enough to kill a normal person in a few days after making them lose their senses and turn rabid"

"What I found out from my initial checks was that the boy's body was somewhat special. It did not just resist the corrosion, it was actively purifying it"

"I was intrigued by the prospects of obtaining some of his blood to study but I stopped myself from doing so..."

At this point, King Robert nodded but his gaze quickly flicked to the small bottle on the table. It was unnoticeable unless one were to be watching his face carefully.

"I tried to take it off my mind but this did not work and I ended up doing it. I extracted some of his blood and took it back to the apothecary to study"

"The results I got from studying the blood were ordinary. I tried every method I could but the blood remained ordinary but today it reacted"

"A moment before the chime of the bells at the royal library, the blood swelled to three-quarters the volume of the bottle and began to boil softly"

"I would have missed it, if not for my disciple who was working with some herbs right close to the bottle. The blood only returned to its original volume after the bells stopped ringing"

"The Library Keeper mentioned something about the bloodline inheritor of The Primordial World Guardian being the key to getting the royal library to open again. It was this that made me feel there was a chance it could be that boy"

By now, King Robert's face was filled with solemnity. He looked to be deep in thought. The old man and his disciple wisely kept their mouths shut as they waited in silence.

They had taken blood from a guest of a member of the Royal family without permission, this was without any doubt, a punishable offense.

Suddenly, he stood up, picked up the bottle, and said, "we are going to the library, come with me"

The two hurriedly stood up and followed behind King Robert. As soon as they walked out of the double doors, the middle-aged man who had announced the arrival of the two, and four guards followed them.

The Royal Library was a part of The Royal Palace. It was a pretty important place, so it was not too far.

It did not take too long for the group to walk over the borders of the library grounds.

King Robert suddenly paused as he raised the small bottle in his hand to his eye level. The blood had risen just like the old man had mentioned and it had bubbles forming on its surface like it was boiling softly.

The library seemed to regain a bit of its shine at the same time. There were no bells but the shine on the marble stairs was still noticeable.

King Robert did not say a word. He only walked back one step at a time.

Three steps later, everything had returned to its initial calm. There was no boiling or shining.

He took a step forward and the calm was broken again.

"Mark this spot", King Robert ordered.

One of the guards immediately responded, using the bottom of the spear he carried with him to draw a mark right behind where King Robert was standing.

King Robert did not say anything more as he walked toward the library, one step at a time.

It was almost like he was counting his footsteps. The boiling increased in intensity slightly at some point along the way. The spot was also marked.

By the time they were standing before the library door, the blood was boiling with twice the intensity as when it had just started.

The shine was there and it had improved the closer they got to the library but compared to earlier in the day when the bells chimed, the difference was night and day.

The doors also remained shut. There were no creaks or any signs of it trying to open; also the blood boiling had begun to subside. The library had also stopped glistening.

"Go to the worker's residential area and ask The Head Supervisor to bring Aiden Tarren to The Royal Library"

The guard, King Robert spoke to immediately bowed and ran off toward the worker's residential area.

...

Aiden who had fallen asleep for some reason a few moments after he returned to his room from the dining hall, suddenly woke up with a start.

He felt something wrong with his body. His blood was excited just like it had been when the library went crazy earlier in the day when visited, albeit a lot gentler.

He was puzzled. He couldn't imagine why it would be happening when he was sound asleep.

He was about to plunge his thoughts into many more questions when he thought of one thing, the blood that the physician and his disciple had taken from his body.

His face twisted when the thought of the possibility that when he had visited the library earlier that day, the blood the man had taken also reacted at the same time, causing the same level of chaos.

If that was the case, then the shady physician had taken his blood to the royal library to verify a few guesses he might have thought of.

Then if the result the man had gotten was anything similar to what was happening to him right now, then trouble was coming.

Shouldn't I have some sort of control over my blood?

What happens if I calm my blood here, what will the result be?

He thought of a few things and decided to calm his excited blood.

It took a bit of effort but he managed to calm his excited blood. Any longer and it would have become uncomfortable.

Walking around with his body excited like that was not a comfortable feeling.

Sigh...

He sat down in his bed and began to think of how to get his blood back. If any other big discoveries were to be made about his blood due to the curiosity of a physician, things would get problematic.

He was lost in thoughts for a while when he heard someone knock on his door. The knock was firm and it rang through the room.

"Aiden Tarren, The Head Supervisor wants to see you. She is waiting at the main gates, she says you should be there in less than five minutes"

It was a female voice but it had a deep tone to it.

There was one word ringing in his mind at that moment, "f**k".

What sort of a coincidence was this? He was summoned moments after he managed to calm his excited blood.

He walked to the door and opened it to see a woman standing outside his door.

She glanced at him then frowned, "go find something good to wear and get back here. You have two minutes".

Aiden who had spent all the time since he woke up trying to get his blood out of an excited state was not dressed well enough to meet anyone let alone the head supervisor who had called for him. Why did she even call for him?

He closed the door and quickly threw on one of the clothes he bought. He had bought four shirts and two pairs of trousers the day before.

He tidied up his hair as quickly as he could and washed his face.

He stepped out of the room to see the woman still waiting right outside his door.

"1 minute 57 seconds. You should be able to get to the main gate faster if you move on your own. No need to wait for me"

With doubts still running through his mind, Aiden quickly left the block after locking his room.

The main gates were not too far, especially for Aiden who hastened his steps. The head supervisor looked like a very serious woman and her five-minute time must have been given for a reason.

Soon he saw the head supervisor. She was much taller than he expected, he had only met her sitting behind a huge desk. He had no idea she was that tall.

She was standing at a height of well over six feet.

"Speed up those tiny legs, you have been summoned by higher authority"

She did not allow Aiden to greet or say anything before walking out of the gates with a royal guard trailing behind her slightly.

The royal guard was someone he had seen from afar. He guessed that the person who was calling for him was a member of the royal family.

Aiden also quickened his pace, trying to catch up but it was like she and the guard had horse limbs for legs.

He was almost running after them but the gap was not closing, instead, it seemed to be expanding.

They had only walked a couple of minutes when he realized something. The path they were on was the one that lead to the royal library.

On realizing this, his steps subconsciously slowed. This caused him to stumble and almost fall headfirst as a result.

The head supervisor glanced at him before she continued walking.

Aiden raised his head at that moment, catching the head supervisor's glance that was quickly removed.

He hurriedly corrected his steps and kept walking.

He was still freaking out in his mind but he noticed that the pace had slowed down just enough that it no longer had him racewalking like it was the end of times just to keep up.

His mind kept churning out different thoughts on how to escape his dilemma.

It was not that he was so self-confident or narcissistic, but he knew deep inside him that if he was found at a particular radial distance from the library, things would go haywire.

So many thoughts but he couldn't think of one that was a viable option.

He tried to keep calm but his mind continued to skip over a very important point, he could calm the excitement.

If there was no excitement, there shouldn't be any reactions, right?

Soon they could see the library, Aiden schooled his face to show no expression that would give away his nervousness. It was hard but not impossible.

The royal library was truly a majestic building, a building that anyone would appreciate no matter how many times they looked at it but Aiden had such thoughts on his mind.

The one thought he did have, was the distance between where he was and the library's line of craziness.

Ten meters...

Eight meters...

Five meters...

Three...

Two...

One...

Like clockwork, the library seemed to recover some of the beauty that had been worn away by time.

The excitement was here and his body trembled faintly.

The only thing was that the excitement was much more subdued than it had been earlier that day.

The subdued feeling of excitement made Aiden recall that he had calmed the excitement earlier. In that case, what was stopping him from doing it again?

He could see King Robert standing with two people, an old man with grey hair and a young man who stood respectfully behind the old man.

The head supervisor continued walking with no regard for Aiden who seemed completely normal.

As they drew closer to the library entrance, the recovery glow on the library faded away. It was like when the blood in the bottle had been used.

By the time, the three; the head supervisor, the royal guard, and Aiden made it to the front of King Robert, bowing their heads in greeting, the recovery had faded away completely, leaving the library in its usual state.

As Aiden greeted, he was silently jubilating in his mind, congratulating himself for a job well done.

He was so happy that when a voice sounded in his mind, he was startled badly. His eyes twitched and his expression was a sight to behold.

["Why won't you acknowledge me?"]

The person on the horse soon became clear to the eyes. He was wearing an almost similar kind of armor to the group of soldiers on Fraser's side. He seemed to be waving his hand wildly above his head. Then the real culprits came into view. They looked like jackals but were almost three times the size. They were muscular and you could see the dark shade of their skin as well as their shiny and slime-smeared bodies. It glistened slightly in the grey overcast. There were less than ten of them and they were galloping hard after the person on the horse, carrying on their backs individuals that were just as rough looking."Savages?", one of the men said in surprise as he gripped his spear even more tightly. The man on the horse was running toward them and it was clear that he was from the patrol camp, so whose message had they received a few moments prior? The group of soldiers there numbered less than thirty and less than

You will be protected by the royal family against anyone who would consider attacking you for your findings, that I promise"Unlike the first instance of crowd reactions, there was a great difference this time. If the murmurs earlier had been a loud cheer, then the reaction now was pin-drop silence. All that was heard and reverberating in the ears of those who were present was the King's promise. Even the nobles turned to King Robert with surprise in their eyes."All hail The King!!!", the hera

"I'm sorry, I just thought...""...that I work in the palace or someplace that is not here?"Aiden did not answer but the woman continued speaking instead."You're both right and wrong". Aiden was confused before she explained her statement. "Right, because the face you saw indeed works in the Royal palace. Wrong, because that face belongs to my younger sister"Aiden nodded. He understood it now. This was not the same person he had seen at the training grounds when he was on duty. His brain had skimped on the details when he saw her and only when she explained it did his brain start to fill in all the blanks and he saw the differences. As the older one, the w

One, this new statue was massive, at least three times as tall. Two, the statue now had a weapon – A halberd which it swung around. Three, most importantly, it had lines running all over its body. Looking close enough these lines were runes just like the ones Aiden and the rest had, but these were very close to being complete, easily dwarfing the ones they had.Their expressions turned grave as the glowing eyes of the massive statue locked onto them.It was a golem, and it wasted no time. They were right to be worried, because the moment the stone coffin opened slightly, light burst out of the opening. They were taken aback by this absurd light show, however, the light was like a tonic, one that breathed life into the surrounding. Life into the several warrior statues that lined the walls.
