Chapter 10: Feeling Of Danger

Jennifer and Jeffrey stood in front of a large black gate in awe, as they looked at their surroundings, once again they didn't know what to think.

As soon as they were ready to leave Pheona's mansion, she created a portal which brought them here and as soon as they came here, they were shocked because this place looked like a battlefield or more like a calamity happened around here, weapons could be seen on the floor along with dried blood, at some places it looked like a meteorite struck and some places had claw marks and straight line marks, it was so shocking to them.

They could not look at the surroundings when Pheona and the dragon were fighting so they didn't know how much damage was caused but looking at their surroundings now, they didn't even know if they'd eventually get powerful enough to cause effects like this.

As they looked forward once more they realized that around the metal gate were walls, according to what they heard from Pheona, what's inside the gate is a small city and in the center is the Temporal Palace.

" All right you guys, I'll be off now. Don't die."

Jeffrey and Jennifer looked towards Pheona and just nodded. They already knew that Pheona won't enter because the city outside the Temporal Palace is safe and she can't enter the palace or she'll have to destroy it. However Pheona left with them her spirit in Jeffrey's soul space to at least guide them.

" Oh, I almost forgot." Pheona exclaimed as she was about to leave, she walked towards the gate and pushed it open with one hand which made a loud screeching noise. " Alright you can enter now. Once more, don't die." Pheona said before disappearing in thin air.

Jeffrey and Jennifer looked towards the spot Pheona was without saying a word and walked towards the gate. As soon they entered, the gate closed which shocked them because what if they have to escape but before they could panic, they heard a voice coming from their heads or more exactly Jeffrey's soul space,

" Don't panic, if you want to go out just reach the gate and it'll open by itself or I can come and open it for you." Pheona's voice managed to calm down the duo.

As they calmed down, they saw their surroundings and were shocked by what they saw, all the buildings in their line of sight were ruins of what used to be beautiful buildings. They could see broken down buildings whether small or big, the skyscrapers from afar were broken, it was shocking to them and they gulped and were speechless while looking around .

They wanted to ask so many questions regarding this place but didn't because they knew that if they should, it'll be like a never-ending cycle of questions. They have no idea about common things like cultivation so if they should start asking, it'll lead to more questions and more wasting of time. Right now all they wanted to do was to find a way back home, if they can't then they'll ask so they forced back their curiosity.

As they were walking towards the palace, they also explored some places as even though they forced back down their curiosity, they at least wanted to check out the place. After hours of walking and exploration, they realized how frustrating it is to be an illiterate, they could not read the words they saw in the books, scrolls or various places with wordings during their exploration, it was somewhat vexing. They asked Pheona to help translate but she snorted and said, " Why should I stress myself when you want to leave , if you can't leave I might teach it to you."

They could not argue with her words hearing her, besides the exploration somewhat broadened their horizons regarding the cultivation world. As they were walking, they decided not to explore anymore and just walk to the palace with no disturbance as they've been walking and exploring for hours. They were somewhat shocked because they were not tired, normally walking for hours would tire normal people out but they still felt like they had a lot of energy.

Meanwhile, as Jeffrey and Jennifer were walking, Jeffrey had so much on his mind regarding the feelings he's been having ever since he came here. The feeling of danger and fear was increasing the longer they stayed here, he was the main reason they wasted more time exploring because he thought maybe there was something stalking them that wanted to kill them but he waited for hours and no attack came their way.

He had already asked Pheona if it's safe around here and she replied that it was. Hearing her words, he didn't know what to think anymore about this feeling that was increasing every minute making him frustrated. He knew that Pheona won't try to send them to their deaths because she was way stronger than them so there's no reason for her to lie or use tricks to kill ants like them unless she has a fetish related to something which he hopefully doubts.

He wanted to ignore this feeling as this was the first time he felt like this but he couldn't so he decided to explain to Pheona and Jennifer. When Jennifer heard it, she had a worried expression and said, " Why don't we go back, maybe this place is too dangerous for us, we can come back later."

" I thought about doing that but the problem is I've started feeling like this after we entered the forest not when we entered this place, at first I thought maybe it came from Pheona but it has been increasing ever since we came to this world, it's almost driving me nuts." Jeffrey said while rubbing his forehead.

" I don't know what to say about your feeling but I'm not the cause of it, if I want to kill you, I won't play games with you and besides I'm the one that wants to leave this FUCKED up world more than you. I've been here for thousands of years, I want nothing more than to leave this place. Besides if you're in danger, I'll protect you as you guys can take away my boredom for some time."

Jeffrey and Jennifer looked at each other with shock in their eyes, all this time they had been thinking that Pheona was like at most between 100-150 years old, they thought she should be in her hundreds but never thousands. They guessed that with power, people should be able to live longer but not that long, people in their world die of old age at around 70-100 but in this world, people can live ten times more than a hundred years, it was too much of a shock to them. They were somewhat tempted to stay and gain that power but they remembered their families, so they stopped their train of thoughts.

After recovering from the shock, Jeffrey asked a question which was important, " Pheona, is there any other being stronger than you in the primordial forest. If there is, maybe that being is what's causing the feeling?"

" I'm the strongest in this world or I should be the strongest. I can't say I'm 100% certain because I might be wrong, maybe there's something stronger out there."

Jeffrey furrowed his brows but later sighed, " Don't let us disturb ourselves with it anymore, if there's something stronger than Pheona, it's not like Jennifer and I can do anything about it, so let's just enter the palace and try to find a way out if possible."

Pheona hearing that was somewhat startled at first, she thought Jeffrey would turn back and decide to stay with her until the feeling goes away, even though what he said makes sense since if she can't deal with what is causing his feeling of danger he might die but most people would decide to still stay with her because actually that's the safest and most logical reason. She looked at Jeffrey once more in appreciation as knew what kind of courage it takes for someone to jump to the unknown, she decided that even though they just met, she'd protect their lives even if she might damage the palace, not knowing that the person she wants to protect is whom will protect her life from a fate worse than death.

Jeffrey looked at Jennifer and saw her looking at him with a smile and resolve in her eyes, he chuckled softly, held her hands and continued their walk to the Palace. If the palace is what is causing the feeling of danger and fear, they'll walk towards it together to find a way back home. It's not like they have a choice either way, even if he leaves this place, the feeling still keeps on increasing little by little so why not walk towards the opportunity to escape this world. This walk was the beginning of the legend of The Immortal King of the Defying Star and The Immortal Queen of Stars.
