Chapter 7: Soul Gem

" Now that I've explained some cultivation stages to you, you should understand that those three realms I mentioned are part of the Mortal Realms. The soul gem is very beneficial to a certain realm after the mortal realm. The person that gave you the soul gem really helped you, you're not meant to be able to fuse with the gem but she helped you with it, if she didn't you'd be dead."

As Jeffrey and Jennifer heard about cultivation from Pheona, they didn't know what to think, to them everything was confusing, all the terms were confusing. In fact, they got a minor a headache just listening to the cultivation stages. At first they wanted to ask some questions like what is an ancient, a Primordial, why did it hurt when they looked at her and the dragon, why is the Primordial Forest sealed, why does she have eight wings, but now they knew they wouldn't understand a thing Pheona says at least for now. When they looked at Pheona and saw her smile, they realized she knew this would happen, no wonder she said she'll answer their questions, she knew they'd nearly have no questions to ask her unless they want more headaches.

" I can tell you two uses of the soul gem. It can be used to store living and non-living things in the soul and it can also protect the soul" Pheona decided to simplify her words seeing their frustrated faces.

Jennifer looked at Pheona in understanding hearing her words and couldn't help but ask, " You mean?"

" Yes, you were in his soul when you entered the space crack. If you didn't, you'd be dead. In fact it was the soul gem that saved your lives, that woman that gave you the soul gem saved your lives." Pheona answered which made Jeffrey and Jennifer to be confused as to why Zhena would save their lives, they were sure they didn't do anything noteworthy when they met.

" Do you know why Zhena would give us something as a soul gem and save our lives?" Jennifer decided to ask.

" I was hoping you'd know, because I'm also confused. That boy's talent in cultivation is just average at best, he doesn't have any special physique or soul, why you girl, although your talent is better than him but not by much and you also don't have any special physique or soul. You don't know how confused I am"

Jennifer and Jeffrey didn't understand what special physique or souls were or what determines talent in cultivation so they wisely didn't ask any questions about it. They were too tired hearing about cultivation from Pheona.

" Is it possible to enter inside Jeffrey's soul again because when I was inside, I think I was inside a building"

Pheona hearing Jennifer's question looks at Jeffrey and clicks her tongue in jealousy.

" Yes we can enter anytime, he just needs to touch us and say enter but you must not resist or it won't work".

Jeffrey and Jennifer looks at each other and then at Pheona in shock and skepticism. They could not believe that it was that easy, because every other explanation has been complicated and they expected to hear something complicated to Jennifer's question. Pheona seeing their faces clicks her tongue once again and decides to explain.

" That woman made the soul gem easy for you to use, normally you'd need to cultivate to a certain stage to be able to enter yourself and allow somebody else to enter but she used runes to make it easier for you to use it"

" Ooh".

Pheona's lips twitched hearing their response, they didn't know how difficult it is to do what Zhena did. She already knew that Zhena was more powerful than her, an half-step immortal level cultivator.

Jeffrey held Jennifer and Pheona but decided to try something different, instead of saying speaking out loud, he said it in his mind and was surprised to see Jennifer disappear while Pheona was standing with her eyes closed. As he wanted to ask Pheona what happened to Jennifer, he felt like an explosion happened within his mind but he didn't feel any pain, as he was wondering what happened his vision changed. He looked around and saw himself in a room that he knew all to well, it was his room in his home, he was shocked as he looked around and found the room to have everything his room had. He walked out of the door and decided to check the two other rooms in his home to look for Jennifer and Pheona and also to look if the rooms are also the same.

As he came out of the last room on the top floor, he was surprised that all the rooms were exactly the same as the rooms in his home on planet Omast, he didn't know how this was possible but it was somewhat comforting in a way to him, at least he has something from his planet. He walked to the ground floor to check if Pheona and Jennifer were in the living room. As he walked down the stairs, he heard voices and recognized them to be Jennifer and Pheona's and unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.

" Jennifer, Pheona" He called out seeing them not notice him standing on the stairs even though he somehow knew that Pheona should have noticed him. Jennifer and Pheona turned around and looked at him, Jeffrey looked at Pheona and asked " Can you please explain all of this, like why did we enter my house or is this my soul?"

" This house is not your soul, as for this house, that woman… Zhena was the one that did it. It's more like a copy, it's not totally real, you can't take it out of your soul space. It's only real in here"

As soon as Jeffrey heard Pheona's reply, he was curious as he had questions like how did Zhena copy his house, how is it not real, is there any use of the house. He wanted to ask those questions and more but he didn't because he knew he'd not understand the answers.

" There are actually some things that are real here" Pheona said while pointing towards the floor. Jeffrey looked at the floor and saw Jennifer's phone and his phone and the pole which was in his room.

" The food, drinks and clothes in the house are also real. Some of the food come from Life's a bliss restaurant" Jennifer says much to Jeffrey's surprise.

" How is that possible?" Jeffrey looked at Jennifer and Pheona in confusion especially Pheona to which she shrugged " Don't look at me, I don't know. The woman is stronger than me and her methods are strange to me, she probably did that so as to not make you starve to death."

Jeffrey and Jennifer were shocked, they didn't know that the robed woman they met in the Teller of Fortune and Misfortune shop was that strong. Although they didn't know how strong Pheona was but they knew she was so strong to the point that they could not look at her when she was in her phoenix form, so for Zhena to be stronger than her was something they couldn't even fathom at the moment.

" How do I take them out if I want to?" Jeffrey asked Pheona while picking up the headphones and throwing Jennifer's phone towards her while picking his.

" Just will for it to appear outside, simple." Pheona said while looking at the headphones with slight interest and curiosity. Jeffrey seeing her curiosity asked " Have you never seen a headphones?"

" She's already explained it to me so I know what it is. It's just that where I come from, people never created headphones, there is no point in it for us, most of us don't have the time to listen to songs and most don't even sing songs for popularity, there's no point."

" Can we go outside, let's see what's outside the house." Jennifer interrupted while moving towards the door, Jeffrey and Pheona decided to follow her. Jeffrey saw Jennifer standing outside not moving and was confused but as he looked outside, he was also stunned, the floor was made out of a crystal which Jeffrey knew as the soul gem, as he looked upwards he also saw the sky was a crystal, when he looked around he realized it was like they were inside a crystal ball.

" I thought we'd find something interesting but there's nothing here." Jeffrey said disappointedly.

" This place will change when you get stronger." Jeffrey turned around and saw Pheona walking towards them, he then remembered a question he should have asked and asked " By the way, when I willed for Jennifer to enter here, her body disappeared but yours didn't, why?"

" If I entered with my body, you'd be dead. This is my spirit body" Pheona answered calmly.

" Spirit body?" Jeffrey looked at her in confusion.

" Don't ask, it's going to be a long lecture, one I don't want to start explaining. If you're done, let's go back."

Jennifer and Jeffrey nodded as one of their curiosities has been satisfied, Jeffrey held their hands and willed for them to go outside and his vision spun once more and he saw himself in Pheona's room. He looked around and saw Jennifer shaking her head while Pheona had already sat on the couch at some point.

" Hey, can I ask a question?" Pheona looked at Jeffrey with raised eyebrows and asked " You want to ask what happened to your world and if you can go back?"

Jeffrey nodded and Pheona sighed " Your world should be undergoing something we'd call in my place, Mana Awakening or Mana Infusion, it's when the type of energy that can make you powerful like me begins to appear in your world, sometimes it can be a peaceful Awakening or sometimes it can be disastrous. That's the summary of it, I don't know if you can go back at all, there are many factors to consider if you want to go back, the most important is whether you can leave this Primordial Forest."

Jeffrey and Jennifer looked at each other and could see the fear in their eyes, they knew that they had more questions to ask but if they could not leave the forest, then there's no point in asking. They could only hope their families and friends are safe.

" Is there really no way to leave the Primordial Forest?" Jennifer asked but she knew what the answer would most likely be, if somebody like Pheona could not leave the forest how could they but she was surprised as soon as she heard Pheona's answer " There might be, I'm not sure."

" What's it, can you please tell us?" Jeffrey asked while having faint hope that they'd be able to find a way back home.

" There is a way which is guaranteed that you'd be able to get out, you have to be strong enough to break out of the world which is impossible for you to do. The second way is not a guaranteed one as it might not even have a way to go outside, there's a palace in the primordial forest called Temporal Palace. That place might be your way out."
