NINETY FIVE – DISCHARGED AT LAST

“I'm sorry, sir, but we will not discharge you tomorrow.” The doctor argued for the umpteenth time. “You’re not fit enough to leave the hospital just yet. You need at least a week of intensive care.”

Luke stared at him, obviously appalled.

“A week?” The thought of staying confined to this bed for the next hour did not appeal to him at all. How then was he supposed to survive another full week in this place?

“Aren’t there any means by which the treatments can be hastened? I have things to do and I need to be out of here soon.”

The doctor shook his head.

“We’re already giving you the most speedy form of medical treatment money can afford. There’s nothing we can do beyond this.”

Totally defeated, Luke sank into his pillows as the doctor checked on his drip and subsequently left.

His phone had been fixed and brought to him earlier on. He’d already tried Nina’s number several times, but she rejected all his calls.
