Chapter 14

"Why did you say that my mother was dead?" Jason asked Alex as he looked at his father, settling some scores with the lady at the corner. 

She looked like a model, the kind of thing wealthy men like his father would have on their hands at one of their expensive events.

"Come on, your mother is nothing compared to Emilia," Alex said. "Your mother was different, soft-spoken and kind, nothing like this woman here," he added.

Jason watched them argue in low tones for a while. His father seemed exhausted. 

He knew from the way he rubbed his forehead without saying anything.

"What do you think they are arguing about?" Jason asked.
