As the driver took Jason to the school, he thought hard about what to do. He knew that Cecilia would not let him off the hook so easily.
She had seen the fancy car he got into this morning, and he knew for a fact that her greed had sprung up because she was no longer a part of his life.
She was intent on frustrating him, and if he did not act fast, she would ruin him in the end following her greed.
If he got to the school, he had no idea what to say in his defense, but he would not let her and her new boyfriend frustrate him either. He had to act fast so they would not win this time.
He dipped his hand into his pocket and took out his phone. He wanted to call Alex and inform him of what was going on, but he changed his mind.
"Do you know my father?" He asked the driver.
"Of course I do, he is my boss," the driver replied.
"I need his contact immediately," Jason requested.
The driver took out a card from his breast pocket and handed it over to Jason, who took it and dialed the number on it immediately. He was asked to hold on by a receptionist and in a few minutes, someone came on the line.
"Jason, is that you?" Mr Abbot, his father asked.
"Yes it's me," Jason replied, still puzzled at this man that called him 'son'. This was someone that he barely knew.
"Are you on your way to the company?" Mr. Abbot asked.
"No," Jason replied. "I have a situation at hand," he added curtly.
"What situation?" Mr. Abbot asked, his voice laced with concern.
"I have been accused of theft," he blurted out, not sure why he had to relate his problems to someone that was a stranger.
There was a brief silence before Mr. Abbot spoke again.
"I will have someone sent over to you, and he is going to be your manager," he said. "Tell him everything and he will do whatever you want," he added before he hung up.
The driver stopped the car by the side of the road as they waited for the man Mr. Abbot said he would send.
They had waited for ten minutes before a convertible pulled up beside them. They watched closely and a man exited the car.
He tapped softly on the window of their car and Jason opened up the door for him immediately. He entered and sat beside Jason.
"My name is Declan and I will be your manager for as long as you wish," the young man said as stretched forth his hand for a handshake. Jason shook his hand and told him everything that had happened while Declan took some notes.
"So what do you want me to do for you now?" Declan asked him as he looked at him pointedly.
"I suggest you have a way to fix this," Jason said helplessly.
"I do sir but the thing is, it's not in my place to suggest such things except if you ask me to," Declan said. Jason urged him to carry on.
"I think that instead of trying to defend yourself in school, you should make yourself a sponsor of the college, seeing that you have all the money it takes at your disposal," Declan suggested. Jason loved the idea immediately.
"How long do you think that it would take for that to happen?" Jason asked.
"I can do it within an hour," Declan replied.
"Then get on with it immediately," Jason ordered.
Declan started to get out of the car immediately.
"One more thing," Jason said and Declan turned around to look at him.
"I do not want anyone to know about this arrangement just yet," he said. Declan nodded and headed out immediately.
Jason continued his ride to school, feeling more confident than he was before speaking to his manager.
He loved the feeling that came with having so much money. It put him at the top of things. In less than an hour, just as Declan had promised, all his problems would be gone.
He did not intend to see Cecilia so soon as he got into the school premises. She was standing by the cafeteria with her new boyfriend and his clique.
As soon as they saw him, they surrounded him immediately. But he was not afraid of them anymore.
He just stood where he was and watched them. The other students were already gathering to see what was happening.
"You still have the guts to show your face here after what you did, you thief," Cecilia spat at him. He just chuckled and looked on at her without saying a word.
He knew that Cecilia hated being ignored but he wanted to teach her some lessons.
She moved closer to him.
"So because you rented a car with the money you stole, you think you are going to make me jealous?" She said to him. Jason laughed. He could not believe that she had called his car a rented car.
"What is so funny?" Her boyfriend, whose name happened to be Anthony asked him.
"You all are just so funny for thinking that you will accuse me of theft and get away with it," Jason said to them.
They were all surprised. Timid Jason was talking to them in this way and it angered them. He had grown some wings and they felt intimidated.
Jason knew that everything was under control and he did not need to worry himself.
"By the time I am done with you today, you will regret ever coming to school today," Anthony threatened.
"Let's see about that," Jason said with a mischievous smile playing on the side of his lips. "I'll love to see you try," he added and walked away.
Jason headed straight to the lecture hall for the first lecture of the day and sat down quietly as he waited for the class to begin. As usual, everyone avoided him like a plague. He was known to be the pauper of the school, therefore who would like to accept a pauper. The seats in his left and right sides were empty, making him feel lonely in a class full of people. Each students made sure they fled from him, and at the slight contact, they tried every means possible to emaciate humiliation. His only best friend, Caleb, for some reasons, was absent and was nowhere to be found. He tried calling him but there was no response. He looked through his lecture schedule. He did not quite like economics, but the professor was nice. He did not ask very difficult questions in his tests. The economics professor soon strolled in for the first class and began to teach. Jason glanced at his wristwatch. He was glad he did not have to go to work anymore. He had been thinking of getting a new job be
Jason decided that instead of staying in the class and being humiliated further by other students, he would follow after the principal and try to make him understand that he is not a thief. He would apologize if he had to. He just did not want to be labeled a thief. The stigma would stick throughout his stay in college and he was just in his sophomore year.As the principal got into his office, Jason followed after him. "What are you doing here?" The principal asked him, seething with rage. "Please sir, I want you to know that I did not steal any money from the school," Jason pleaded. All his pleas fell on deaf ears as the principal did not bother to spare him a glance. He was adamant. He decided that he would not walk away.Jason wanted to speak again, at least to say something or better still vividly explain himself, but the ringing of the principal's telephone interrupted him. The principal answered him immediately, and it was a call from one of the major sponsors of the college
The principal was still at a loss as to what to do about the call he had just received. He did not know how to begin to apologize to Jason for the humiliation he had cost him."Is there a problem sir?" Jason asked him. He had noticed the way the principal had been staring at him as though he was thinking of what to do to him. "I need you to go to your class for now," the principal said to him."But sir," Jason interjected. "I'm here to make you understand that I did not take the college fund that was stolen," he said."Don't worry about it," the principal said. "Just go to your class," he added. The principal knew that even though Jason was the culprit, the money would be refunded in a blink of an eye because his father could do so.Once Jason was out of the office, the principal got to work immediately. He had to make sure that Jason was truly the culprit before he began to make such decisions against the poor boy.He thought of a way to go about it, and almost immediately, an idea
Cecilia was dumbfounded at what had just transpired. She did not think for a minute that she would ever be caught and her heart raced very fast. She did not know what to expect from all of it, but she decided to remain calm until the video ended. The whole class turned to look at her immediately and she was so ashamed of herself. Even Anthony had shifted from her. He had no idea that she was the culprit all along. He thought that she was telling the truth when she said she had caught him stealing the money."Stand up there, Cecilia," the principal ordered. She stood up immediately, still trembling like a leaf. The whole class burst out laughing because of how afraid she was."Here is your real culprit," the principal announced as he pointed to her. There was a slight murmuring in the class. Everybody was surprised that she was the one behind it all."I am not the culprit," she protested to everyone's surprise, speaking for the first time. "Then who is the real culprit?" The principa
As soon as Cecilia walked out of the class, the bell went off for recess. What transpired in the class was what was on everybody's lips as they headed to the cafeteria for lunch. While the other students were in the cafeteria having lunch, Cecilia was beginning her punishment of cleaning the entire college camp. Anthony, her boyfriend, had ditched her immediately. He did not want to be associated with her as everyone saw her as a thief. All eyes fell on Jason as he got into the cafeteria and headed toward the food stand. They all saw him as the untouchable principal's pet and no one would dare to bully him anymore. As he sat down and was ready to take his first of his meal, his best friend, Caleb, who worked together with him, came and sat before him."I did not see you in class today," Jason said to him. Caleb was the only friend he had, the only person that sat close to him in the class, and his absence in class was felt by Jason who sat all alone."I was helping my new girlfriend
Jason's hand left her waist immediately as he stood up straight to look at her, bewildered, but not annoyed. His face still stung from the effect of her slap, but that was the least of his worries at that time. "Are you okay, sir?" Alex asked him. A guard reached out for the lady, but he insisted that they let her go. She huffed, adjusted her jacket, and went ahead to stand in the queue."You do not treat a lady that way," he said softly to the guard, his eyes not leaving the young lady. Alex followed his eyes and smiled softly. She was beautiful, almost to a fault, and she had a long mane of wavy hair that rested elegantly on her back, reaching below her waist. Jason had never seen anyone so beautiful in his life before, and she fascinated him. There was a small scowl on her face that suggested that she was not happy about something, but he would not know as he had not spoken to her.Something tugged in his heart, a will to protect her, to not see her suffer. He had heard of lov
Jason proceeded to walk up to her despite Alex's attempt to stop him. He buttoned up his suit before he got to where she was. She was bent over and looking at some forms that had the bank's logo on them, and she did not seem to notice him. He came to stand beside her."Hi," he began. She looked up at him, and he saw her face fall in disappointment. She was not planning to see him at all. If she was surprised at his change of outfit, then he sure did a good job at concealing it. She returned her attention to what she was doing initially without saying a word to him. It hurt him, but he did not mind, and Jason was not discouraged."My name is Jason," he said to her again. "Who are you?" He asked, and on a sudden realization, he rephrased his question. "What is your name?" He asked. She still did not say a word but proceeded to join a long queue of waiting customers. He followed after her and stood beside her in the queue. Alex shook his head in pity at Jason. If Jason knew how powe
Jason did not know what was expected of him to brace himself up to go see his father. The way the driver and Alex exchanged glances was enough to make him believe that his father was a god.He probably lived in a mansion with a fountain and numerous servants to attend to him. Little did he know that he was in for a big surprise. When they stopped at an open field, right on top of a cliff, Jason was fixated on what was to happen next. His life over the past few days had been full of surprises, and he had slowly begun to prepare his mind efficiently for them. They waited for a full minute before Jason began to hear the loud whirring of a helicopter that soon landed before them. It met Jason with mixed feelings. He had always wanted a ride in a chopper, but at the same time, the anxiety of meeting his father for the first time was overwhelming.Jason was helped to climb in first. He was strapped to a seat and given a headset with a mouthpiece. Alex followed after him, but the bodygua
