“I already have everything in motion, so all you just need to do is take your position as the CEO,” Bowman explained.

Laxus still stared at Bowman like a zombie as his rejection words died in his throat. “CEO?” Laxus asked.

He was not dumb; becoming the CEO wasn’t the same thing as overseeing it. If one was the CEO of any establishment, just like his father, it meant that the person had full or half ownership of that establishment. Bowman’s word had been for Laxus to oversee it, and now he was mentioning CEO.

Laxus felt like it was still the same trap that was packaged in a different way.

“Yes, CEO,” Bowman responded; that was to show that he knew exactly what he was talking about and that his earlier mention of it wasn’t a slip of the tongue.

“You want me to take ownership of the company,” Laxus stated the obvious. “I already told you that I wasn’t interested in taking anything from you,” Laxus added. He was not going to sell his conscience and worth for anything. Laxus might have co

Luther was obviously the last person who spoke, and yet, she was the one being questioned. Linnie looked at Luther just in time to see the smirk on her face, and she grew more upset. “He…” Linnie started to defend herself, but Darwin stopped her with a wave of his hand.“Keep quiet, Linnie; that was a fucking rhetorical question,” Darwin scolded, making Linnie feel embarrassed and insulted. “You don’t get it, do you?” Darwin asked. Then he walked closer to Linnie and said deeply, “You are just a Kinkaid wife who hasn’t even secured her pla

“All these?” Laxus asked in awe.He was still in shock as to the beauty and elegance of the entire place. Hadn’t they spoken about it in less than seventy-two hours? If Laxus could remember their conversation that led to Bowman’s offer which he had accepted, Bowman had sounded as though it was something that would begin from scratch. He certainly couldn’t have erected this magnificent structure in twenty-four hours or less. “Yes, Laxus, all of it,” Bowman said.He could see the smile and awe in Laxus’s eyes, and he knew that he had gotten just the right reaction that he wanted from Laxus.“And this is your office right here,” Bowman informed Laxus.“This room?” Laxus asked, still shocked. “Of course,” Bowman answered firmly.Somehow, Laxus knew that this was the most exquisite office in the entire building. “So if this is my office, which one is yours?” Laxus asked Bowman.“It’s just right across this one, although I might not be here as often as expected of you,” Bowman told Laxus.

Tears of joy and gratitude gathered in Laxus’s eyes. The only person that ever cared enough about what Laxus wanted was his late grandmother, but to hear someone give him the luxury of doing what he had always wanted to do was the biggest thing that had ever happened to Laxus.“Thank you, Bowman,” Laxus appreciated Bowman, and he could already see the thousands of things he could achieve merging the distillery company with hamburger making. This had been something he had wanted to do desperately when he was working at his family company, but his father always said, “It is a pipe dream, Laxus. Merging hamburger to what we have going on is going to be a cruel joke on the company, and we cannot stand that, so do away with such childish fantasy,” whenever he brought up the idea to his father. And now, Laxus had the freedom to do just that…finally!“Don’t thank me, Laxus, just do your absolute best,” Bowman told Laxus instead.“You will never regret entrusting this into my hands,” Laxus p

She could tell that the entire situation was still affecting Laxus, whether or not he liked to admit it. One thing that Nessy knew for sure was that if anyone was truly over their past, they would not be angry and hurt when the conversation was brought up.“And I didn’t tell you any of this so that you wo

He began to wonder what Linnie came to Nessy’s apartment for, and why she would be threatening Nessy. They had absolutely nothing binding them together, so why would she be harassing Nessy?“How am I supposed to feel safe when I don’t know what is going on?” Nessy asked, and Laxus understood where she was coming from, but he found it difficult to just tell Nessy everything.“How did she even find out that you live here?” Laxus asked. There were so many thoughts and questions running through his head now, and he wanted answers to most of them.
