“I don’t know anyone by that name,” Linnie lied with a straight face.

Meanwhile, she was very mad that Olivia would do as much as go to Luther. What did she go to him for? Linnie would never let anyone destroy all that she had built over the years, especially not Olivia who put her through hell and made her hate her very existence.

Linnie grabbed her robe by the bedside and covered herself up; it was obvious that the mission had been ruined, which was just shameful, because the lingerie was quite expensive, and she might just be ovulating, which meant that if they had had sex like a husband and wife would, there was every possibility that she would get pregnant.

“I don’t know anyone by that name,” Linnie repeated as she got off the bed and attempted to walk out of the room while Luther’s questioning eyes stayed glued to her.

“You are lying, and you know dad would not take kindly to that,” Luther said, making Linnie stop in her tracks.

She turned to Luther with a mean expression on her

He was very broke and penniless now, and in one time, if he did not get a job, he might starve to death. Laxus arrived in Bowman’s house being driven by his driver and bodyguard in the front seat.Laxus hated to be here, but then again, he would rather face a harmless Bowman and tell him to his face once again that he wasn’t interested in his offer, and that he would never be interested, rather than face another rigorous interrogative section with a detective who wanted nothing but to see Laxus jailed for something he did not do.Laxus had been somewhat satisfied when he caught the detective’s regretful face as he watched Laxus jump into Bowman’s car and the driver drove off at top speed, but that satisfaction had long expired when Laxus realized that he was not going to a place he liked either.“Please, come out of the car,” the bodyguard said. He had opened the door for more than five minutes now, but Laxus hadn’t made a move to get down from the car, so he had to say the words.“I want to leave,” Laxus demanded. It was a ridiculous thing to say, especially with the way he had jumped i

“I already have everything in motion, so all you just need to do is take your position as the CEO,” Bowman explained.Laxus still stared at Bowman like a zombie as his rejection words died in his throat. “CEO?” Laxus asked. He was not dumb; becoming the CEO wasn’t the same thing as overseeing it. If one was the CEO of any establishment, just like his father, it meant that the person had full or half ownership of that establishment. Bowman’s word had been for Laxus to oversee it, and now he was mentioning CEO.Laxus felt like it was still the same trap that was packaged in a different way.“Yes, CEO,” Bowman responded; that was to show that he knew exactly what he was talking about and that his earlier mention of it wasn’t a slip of the tongue.“You want me to take ownership of the company,” Laxus stated the obvious. “I already told you that I wasn’t interested in taking anything from you,” Laxus added. He was not going to sell his conscience and worth for anything. Laxus might have co

As Laxus asked the question, he was already boiling hot in his system. He wondered when Bowman would ever realize that Laxus would never accept to be used as a tool against his own family. They might be apart now, and they might be against him, but Laxus did not hate his father and brother, and if anything at all, he had no intentions of paying back their evil. He wanted to be able stand his ground and not let them treat him like a common criminal or their sworn enemy simply because he turned and never looked back.“The truth or what you want to hear; which do you want?” Bowman eventually asked.“The truth,” Laxus answered, but deep down, his heart was beating. He knew that he a

“I saw what you did there, Luther,” Linnie barked at Luther, referring to the business party they had both attended.“What are you talking about?” Luther asked casually. He wasn’t in the mood for Linnie’s whining, because he was having a good morning, and his day always went well when he did not have to deal with Linnie. Talking to her gave off bad energies that Luther would rather not have today. Ever since the party, he had been feeling really good, and he just wished Linnie would leave him alone so that he could dwell and revel in the goodness that he was feeling.“You and Abby Golden!” Linnie answered, her voice hitting the roof. They both heard scurrying feet; an indication that their domestic workers were eavesdropping on their conversation, or argument anyway.“You all better get back to work or your poverty-stricken asses will be fired and sent back to the slum where you all belong!” Linnie yelled loudly and her voice echoed everywhere in their mansion. She was very enraged an

Luther and Linnie had been so engrossed with their argument that they didn’t even notice when Darwin entered their home.Darwin looked very cross, and Linnie hoped that he was angry at the both of them and not just her as usual, because he always acted as though she was the problem and never blamed or cautioned his son for treating her like a piece of garbage.“What is wrong with you?” Darwin asked Linnie pointedly.Linnie cocked her head in shock. Luther was obviously the last person who spoke, and yet, she was the one being questioned. Linnie looked at Luther just in time to see the smirk on her face, and she grew more upset. “He…” Linnie started to defend herself, but Darwin stopped her with a wave of his hand.“Keep quiet, Linnie; that was a fucking rhetorical question,” Darwin scolded, making Linnie feel embarrassed and insulted. “You don’t get it, do you?” Darwin asked. Then he walked closer to Linnie and said deeply, “You are just a Kinkaid wife who hasn’t even secured her pla

“It hurts, right?” Drake sneered at Nessy as he could see that she was stunned beyond words and she could not get her eyes off the screen.Drake reached out and snatched the phone off Nessy’s hand.“Now you can stop being delusional and know where you belong,” Drake added despitefully.Nessy’s hold on the stool for defense had weakened. She could not begin to explain how it made her feel, other than the fact that Drake was right. Not that Laxus owed her anything; far from that, and Nessy was never an entitled young woman who believed that anyone owed her anything, but she just felt slighted and pained. When she had accidently killed Gary, Laxus was the only one she could think to call as a friend that she could trust, and he had not only shown up, he had also helped her get out of the situation without getting caught, even though she was still getting threats. A few weeks ago, Linnie had shown up at his doorstep unannounced and he had been arrested right after that happened. Right now, Laxus could not think of anyone else that might want him harmed except his family, but would they be dangerous enough to want him dead?It was one thing to be set up by one’s own family, but murder? “Whoever you are, come out and stop hiding in the shadows,” Laxus instructed, trying to put on bravado. He was alone now, and he did not even realize until now that the bright lights illuminating the aisle leading to the hall had been turned off, so the place was slightly dark.“Who is there?” Laxus asked again as he began to look around for something that could pass as a defensive tool.He had barely spent twenty-four hours in the premises and he was already being scared by only God knows who, but the last thing Laxus wanted to do was pose as a fearsome man.“You better come out and make yourself known right now or I will call the cops on you. Don’t think that I don’t have them on speed dial,” Laxus threatened with a lie. “This is my property, and I will not allow a riffraff make a nuisance here,” he added firmly. Then Bowman stepped out of the dark and entered the hall.“Christ, Bowman!” Laxus screamed out, holding his chest and releasing the breath he did not even know that he was

The anger oozing from Darwin emanated in the entire living room and it overpowered whatever emotions Luther and Linnie might have felt watching it.“I think you have destroyed the TV, dad,” Luther said.Darwin whirled around like a wounded monster and charged at Luther. “Are you daft or were you not watching the TV?!” Darwin asked Luther angrily, droplets of saliva flying from his mouth; he was extremely furious.“Well, that is not enough to destroy the TV, is it? It didn’t do anything wrong,” Luther said flippantly, making Darwin more aggravated.Linnie was certain that Darwin would hav
