"What!"
Georgia lowered her head in fear as she stared at the angry looks on their faces.
Madam Kate's expression suddenly turned cold and stoic. She looked up at Georgia who averted her angry gaze.
Pregnant? With who? She doesn't want to believe it was with Smith. She wouldn't dare get pregnant with him.
"What's wrong with you? What are you saying?"Olivia asked as she dragged her into a place beside the hall room.
"Nothing is wrong with me. I'm pregnant mum,"she muttered with her voice laced with pain and sadness.
"With how? How can you get pregnant now?"her mother asked in an angry tone.
She scoffed loudly and rolled her eyes at her mother.
"What do you mean? I'm old enough to give birth, right?"she grunted, and her mother shook her head with a sigh.
"I never said you're not old enough to give birth,"
"That isn't the matter right now. I need to know who is responsible for the baby,"
"Mum,"she groaned, trying to mask the frustrated look on her face.
"Who's the father of the child?" Her mother snapped at her angrily, and she shook her head with a sigh.
"Olivia, what are you both discussing over there?"
"You'd better stop whatever you're discussing and come over here,"
"She need to explain how she got pregnant,"
Her heart shook in fear as she heard her grandma's cold and angry voice.
She wonders how she's going to handle this question. She knows what her Grandma can do whenever she's angry.
She took a deep breath and returned to the hall room where her grandma was waiting for her, especially her explanation.
"What did you say happened the other time?" Madam Kate asked to confirm her assumption.
She can't possibly be pregnant. She dare not. And if she's supposed to get pregnant then it should be for Edward Jones.
"You'd better talk before I lose my mind,"she warned as she stood up from the chair.
Georgia swallowed the saliva in her throat as she moved closer to her Grandma.
"Yes, I'm pregnant…"she stammered.
"What!?"
"And who's the father of the unborn child?"she asked, her voice cold and hostile.
Georgia knew better not to lie to her Grandma especially when she's angry. She's going to find out herself with her influential power.
"Erm it…"she stammered, unaware of what to say.
"It's what?"
"I said who's the father of your unborn child? Who's responsible for the pregnancy?" Madam Kate roared and her voice echoed in the room.
The fear bubbled inside Georgia as she watched her Grandma react in such a way when she hadn't mentioned the name of the baby father.
"I'm sorry, grandma. I can't tell you,"
"I just came to inform you that I'm pregnant,"she muttered with a sigh.
Her grandma's voice made her stop on her track. "You'll cease to be the Rodriguez family if you leave this please now,"
Georgia suddenly stopped and turned her gaze to her Grandma who seemed serious. She knows better not to leave the room because she's a woman of her word.
"Please pardon your granddaughter's mother,"her mother interrupted.
"Don't interfere with this, Olivia,"she replied curtly.
Olivia shook her head with a sigh and stepped backward. Who's she to go against her mother?
"Why are you hesitant to tell me the father of the child, huh? Who is he? Just let me know,"
"Don't feel ashamed," madam Kate said, seeing how skeptical Georgia is.
"Is it Edward? I won't hesitate to throw Smith away so you can marry Edward,"she said.
"Fine. Smith is the father of my unborn child," Georgia crimped her fingers.
"Smith!?"
"How's that possible?"
"You've that good for nothing man child in you,"
"How could you, Georgia?" Madam Kate asked angrily, and she lowered her head in fear.
"I'm sorry grandma,"she muttered.
How could she explain to them that he was drunk when he slept with her? She seduced him.
"You're not pregnant for Edward but for Smith of all people! Why are you head bent on disgracing this family?" Her Grandma yelled out, her voice laced with anger and hatred.
"I'm sorry, grandma,"she muttered as she lowered her head in shame.
How could her granddaughter dare to be pregnant for no one but Smith of all people?
It's a disgrace and slap to the face of the Rodriguez family that her eldest granddaughter who's the hottest and latest model in the town is pregnant for a good for nothing live-in son-in-law.
Someone she's not proud of.
She can't let that happen under her watch.
"Since you're not pregnant for Edward then you'll have to abort this pregnancy,"
Georgia's heart skipped in fear the moment her grandma uttered the word with her face filled with seriousness.
"I can't, grandma. I can't abort the baby. Smith also deserves…" she stopped abruptly as a hot slap landed at the left side of her cheeks.
"How dare you talk back to your grandma? You'd better not go against me," her grandma warned.
"I can't, grandma," she said despite the excruciating pain she felt on her cheeks.
Though she doesn't love Smith, she can't afford to abort his child. It's still her child anyway.
He's not aware that he's the father of her child. He was drunk when she had sex with him so he couldn't remember anything about that night.
She didn't know that night would result in this.
Madam Kate gritted her teeth angrily as she picked her phone from the table. She fumed with anger.
She's really angry that her granddaughter is going against her because of that good for nothing live-in son-in-law.
Georgia watched as her grandma picked up her phone and dialed a number.
Madam Kate placed the phone beside her ear after the third ring.
"Why are you taking time to pick up my call?" She asked angrily over the other side of the phone.
The doctor, Lincoln, shook in fear after hearing her cold and dominant voice over the other side of the phone.
"I'm sorry ma'am. May I know the reason for your call?"
"What am I hearing? Is it true that Georgia is pregnant?"
"Yes, she is. I apologize for not calling to congratulate you, madam Kate," he said, unknowingly bubbling anger inside her.
"Who told you that I need your congratulations?"
"Georgia is coming to the hospital tomorrow to abort the pregnancy," Georgia eyes widened at her Grandma outburst.
What!? Abortion? Her heart raced in fear.
"And you make sure that Smith doesn't know about this…"
"I don't think that's possible anymore,"Lincoln said.
"What do you mean?"
"Smith already knew about the pregnancy and he was the one who paid for the…" Lincoln suddenly stopped when he realized what he was about to say.
"I'll call you later ma'am. I've patients to attend to,"he quickly hung on the call.
"Why did you inform him? Paid for what?"
What! Madam Kate widened in shock as reality hit her.
How did he manage to know?
Could it be that he was the one who paid the surgery fund?
She remembered how confident Smith looked and sounded. Is it the proof he wanted to show them in the hospital?
Though she doesn't want to believe he paid for the surgery fund, all accusations were pointing at him.
She bit her lips as she concluded it was him. Her face turned pale, and she clenched her fist with an angry look on her face.
She felt a stab of annoyance and disappointment after she remembered how she prayed for the anonymous person who turned out to be her live-in son-in-law.
How did he manage to get such an amount of money? In as much she wanted to find out, she knows she has something more important to battle with.
"Georgia," madam Kate called.
Georgia stared at her grandmother fearfully as she dropped her phone on the table after making the phone call.
"Grandma…" she shuddered in fear.
"You're going to the hospital next thing tomorrow morning to abort that bastard child inside of you,"
"And if you refuse, you'll cease to be the member of the Rodriguez family. And you'll be dragged out of the house to suffer in the street," her grandmother threatened.
Next morning, Smith yawned softly as he woke up from the slumber. He turned to the other side of the bed and sighed as his gaze met with the empty side of the bed. His wife wasn't on the bed. He wondered where she'd gone. She must have left her work, modeling agency. He whined as his wrist twitched in pain. A smile formed on his face when he remembered how Georgia massaged and caressed his wrist. Though her attitude yesterday was right, he couldn't help wishing for more. He wanted to be a real husband even though it's almost impossible. He exhaled after sniffing her whiff of perfect and intoxicating scent on the bed. His body reacted to the scent in such a way he couldn't describe. Though he wanted to forget and act like nothing happened yesterday night, he couldn't take the scene from his head. It's indeed strange to him that his wife offered to help him massage his arms and allowed him to sleep on the bed for the first time. It's a scene he couldn't take away from his head eas
What!?Smith stared at her with a surprised expression, taken aback by her action. She hugged him with tears rolling down from her eyes. His shoulder was drained with her tears but he didn't mind it. He couldn't hide the shock after she hugged him. Why wouldn't he be surprised? This was the first time he'd hugged her apart from the aisle of their wedding where they pretended to love each other. He breathed in as her fragrance hit her nose. He made use of the opportunity and hugged her back even though he was somehow reluctant. She is his wife, right? He asked himself as he began to feel guilty for hugging her back in such a state. He felt like he was taking advantage of her. He stared at her and stroked her hair for a while until she sniffed back a bead of tears and stepped backward.Though the hug wasn't long, it felt so real and good that he wish she didn't stop hugging him. "What's wrong?" He managed to ask after stretching out a white handkerchief to her. "Thanks," she mutte
Smith shook his head with a sigh as he stared at the old and outdated design of his in-law house. It's hard to believe that the second daughter of Madam Kate could be living in such a place. This is one of the reasons Georgia's mother, Olivia, is desperate to marry someone rich who can afford to buy her a good house. He shoved his hand inside his pocket as he passed through the hallway that led to their house. He wanted to turn and leave when he remembered how they humiliated him in the presence of Edward just because he couldn't visit and greet them with gifts. He shoved the thought away from his mind. He believed they might change since their daughter seems to be becoming close to him. And if they humiliated him like they used to, he would not take it to his heart since he's used to their insult and abuse all day. He suddenly stopped as he came closer to their room. He heard some familiar voices oozing from the house. He knew something could be wrong though he couldn't tell what
What! A gasp escaped from her mouth and she turned her cold gaze to her mother, Olivia. "What did you just say, Mum?" She asked in a surprised tone. She wanted to know if her mother was joking even though her mother's expression said it all. She was dead serious. "You heard me right baby girl so you should find something to do about this before it gets too late,""And besides, there's nothing you're going to lose if you choose to lose him. He's poor and useless. He's the family dog and good-for-nothing being…""That's enough mum," she growled deeply, and her mother scoffed then crossed her arms under her breasts. She is quite angry that her mother keeps throwing shade at him because he's poor even though he'd been trying his best to satisfy the family in one way or the other. His efforts are quite useless because he isn't rich and comfortable. Though she doesn't like him, she feels bad for him. She shoved off his thought and turned her gaze to her mother with a cold and hostile
Smith gulped down into nothing as he stared at his clothes which were stained by the mud water. He bit her lower lips and narrowed his gaze to Micheal's car which drove off speedily. "I'll make sure you pay for this dearly someday," he muttered beneath as he stared at his dirty shirt. Though he didn't know where the feeling was coming from, he was going to make Micheal and his family suffer most miserably. He can't manage to get to the restaurant dressed in this way. He has to return home and change. He took a deep breath and cursed Micheal inwardly. He clenched his fist with a cold look on my face.He had to cover a few kilometers before he could return. By the time he returned home, his legs burned with excruciating pain. He walked into the compound and passed through the first door where he met Georgia's parents discussing Olivia and Joseph. "What were they discussing?" He asked himself with a confused look as they suddenly jerked up and sat up, clearing their throats nervou
"Sadly, you can't have an abortion because it would damage your womb and you wouldn't be able to give birth in the nearest future,"What! A soft gasp escaped Georgia's lips as the doctor dropped the bombshell. She shifted on her chair uncomfortably as she turned her gaze to the doctor who had a serious look on his face. She was in a daze for a moment. She was taken aback by shock. What is she hearing? How could that be possible?"Are you for real, doctor?" She managed to ask after she recovered from the shock which overwhelmed her. "Yes, Mrs. Georgia. I've been your family doctor for the past ten years so I won't lie to you," she stared at him for a while hoping to find his words funny but she couldn't find it. He looked serious, and she could also sense the sincerity in his voice and eyes. "Check the results yourself if you're doubting me," he said and stretched a printed paper at her. She quickly grabbed the paper from him. She opened the front page and her breath ceased when
"What's the problem?" Georgia opened her eyes and looked up as he retreated and dropped the injection on the wooden table. He didn't answer her. He remained silent until they walked out of his laboratory to his office. "Nothing," he muttered, and she scoffed. "Why did you suddenly stop?" She asked, and he dropped the stethoscope on the table and turned his gaze to her. "I'm sorry the abortion can't be carried out on you at the moment,""Why?" She was confused by the doctor's statement. A few minutes he wanted to abort the unborn child but now he's doing otherwise. "The system doesn't permit me to carry out the abortion today. So if tomorrow is not too far, come as early as possible so I'll abort the child for you,""You can also use that as an opportunity to think about your decision thoroughly. I'll support any decision you make tomorrow," he added, and she scoffed inwardly. "Okay that's fine," she muttered, took her bag, and left the office. She slammed the door shut with a
Georgia shook her head with a sigh as she watched Smith walk out of her office. He slammed the door shut behind his back with a loud bang. He looked sad and heartbroken after she made that statement. She felt bad that she hurt his feelings. She knew what he must have passed through before he could get to her but she felt it wasn't necessary. She doesn't like the idea of him coming to her company. Her colleague and coworkers were going to make her. She does feel embarrassed whenever they walk out together that's why she stopped going out with him. A smile formed on her lips as she sniffed the scent that emitted from the flower he bought for her. It's quite cute of him to leave his work and bring a bouquet for her but she didn't like it. Maybe because he isn't rich enough to satisfy her. Or maybe because she was on the verge of being caught by him. She dropped the bouquet on the table. She let out an exasperated sigh and sat down on the chair. She reached out to the documents Mr.
