2. Am I Not Entitled To Your Money

Lily’s eyes narrowed with disgust as she looked at Liam’s tattered appearance. In the first place, she never believed that they would spend the money together; after all, the money was in her account.

But now he wanted to take some from it.

“I already locked the money up. We can’t access it,” she lied while crossing her arms across her chest.

Liam’s chest tightened as he heard her words.

“What do you mean, Lily?” Last he remembered, it was an open account.

Lily even took some from it last month to get a designer bag that she loved so much. When did it get locked?

“Lily, this is very urgent, as soon as Rose is feeling better, I’ll pay the money back.”

Lily sneered as she looked at his pitiful appearance.

“It’s normal for sick people to die. If you don’t have the means to save her, the most you can do is accompany her in her last moments.”

On hearing her words, Liam’s heart chilled, and he stared at her with shock.

“Can you hear yourself?” He asked after some seconds. Lily rolled her eyes in anger.

“The money is not available, and if you think you can take the card by force, I’ll report you for rape!”

Without waiting for him to say more, she walked out of the room and slammed the door in his face.

Liam stared into space for some minutes. He was unable to believe that his girlfriend had said such words.

She had simply told him to let Rose die?

As much as he needed the money, he didn’t dare pick up a fight after Lily’s words. There was no way he would dare fight a girl when there were two other girls around.

If anything happened to him, Rose would not have anyone.

Without wasting time, he grabbed all his cards and remaining cash and threw them into his bag with a change of clothes.

While he didn’t have the millions that were in the cards they had saved together, he still had some scholarship and prize money in some of his cards.

He also did many jobs for students and had side gigs. While he knew that it would not be enough, he still had to take what he had there, right? Also, if he could get the down payment down, those people would know that there was something, and he would be serious about it.

Not caring that he was tired and needed to rest, Liam rushed back to the hospital. He also wanted to be there when his sister woke up from the intensive care unit.

He stopped at the finance department first and dropped all the cash and cards on the table. There were five cards and $8,000 in cash.

Since the total cost was about $40,000, he wanted to pay about $20,000 using his credit cards and prize money.

The accountant smiled at him and entered the cash money first.

She swiped the first card and looked at him with a cautious glance.

“Sir, this card is empty, and the transaction has been declined,” the accountant said, then passed the card on to him.

Laim’s brows furrowed, but he took the card while checking to see if it was from his last hackathon competition.

They had gifted him a large sum of $5,000, and he had not touched the card all this while. How could it be empty?

Thinking it was a mistake from the bank since he hadn’t touched the cards, he tucked it into his wallet and apologised.

“I’ll pay a visit to the bank later with this. You can charge the other cards,” he said, then telling her how much to charge from the other cards.

Unfortunately, all of his prize cards were declined, but he was able to use them from his credit cards.

By the time he was done swiping the cards, the total payout was $16,000, and he needed $4,000 more to complete the half payment.

Liam stepped out of the finance room and called Lily. If it was just one card, he could have taken it to the bank. But the two prize money cards and the scholarship money that had just been paid to him were all gone!

Since he was an orphan and needed to provide for Rose, Liam was not one to socialise. Lily was his only female friend, and he never brought anyone to his house. If anything was wrong, it had to be Lily.

The call rang once without a response, and he instantly called again.

This time, Lily picked up the call.

“I already told you that the money is not accessible, Liam. Stop disturbing my time with the girls,” Lily started as soon as the call connected.

Rage boiled through Liam at her words, but he managed to control his emotions.

“Lily, which of my cards did you touch? All of the cards that I have kept are empty.”

On the other end, Lily panicked as she heard his question. After all, she had spent his money on shopping and upgrading her wardrobe.

However, she didn’t want to drop the savings money, so she couldn’t admit to it, right?

“Did you spend his money? If you did, isn’t that normal? You are his girlfriend, after all!” Alice said from the side with a nonchalant scoff.

On hearing her words, Lily’s confidence was boosted, and she removed her hands from the speaker.

“So? What’s the matter? I spent the money on taking care of myself. As your girlfriend, am I not entitled to your money?”
