Chapter 88At the end of the two hour examination, students refused to leave the hall, they were all talking about the incident that happened a while ago. Everyone had a word to say and didn't want to listen to the other making the hall to be noisy but still, they were all making the same points. Liam remained seated for a while, he wanted to find out what exactly happened from his mates and immediately he grabbed the hint, he rose to leave. “Hey, Liam.” Jake hailed, walking up to him with a little smile on the edge of his lips. Liam had told him the exact statement Lily had said to him a few days ago and so he was happy that it backfired to her so he couldn't keep his excitement back to himself. “She got what she deserves don't you think so?” He asked, nudging Liam who just nodded as several thoughts swirled through his head at the same time. First, it was the look on Lily's face and now she was at the mercy of the panel who will decide her guilt. “Ugh!” He sighed, tossing his
Chapter 89In order to stop her from doing something stupid, Lily was detained in the school cell which was more like a classroom as investigations were carried out. Several times she had tried to scream out her lungs but even when she parted her lips to perform that action, only air would come out, leaving her frustrated. “This wasn't what I bargained for. I haven't failed before, why am I failing now?” She muttered, darting her eyes around as she tried to keep her heart steady. With beads of perspiration gathered on her forehead, she was breathing heavily as fear coursed through her veins. Rubbing her palms together, she tried to keep still but she just couldn't. The only remedy right now was to rewind everything that had happened but that was just a vivid imagination. With her head now buried in her palms, she muttered, “I should have just slipped the materials into his bag when I arrived earlier. Why did I decide to hold onto it until after the exam so I would raise an alarm.”
Chapter 90When they got home, Liam tried to hold Naya back and ask her the one question that had been troubling him. He was wondering how she had figured out that something was wrong at school and how she also knew Lily was involved in it. Pressing his lips tightly together, he kept on staring at her departing figure and when she turned in his direction, he shifted his gaze aside, pretending to be busy on his phone. “I'm in my room, you can call me if you need me.” She said and he nodded in response, not bothering to raise his head in her direction. Smirking, Naya wrapped her hand across her chest and after staring at him for a while she shrugged and then began to climb up the stairs. Even when she got to her door, she still had to look over the railings only to see him still focused on his phone. “He must be revising again.” She muttered and then finally slipped into her room. With a bright smile on her face, she did a little dance before plopping on her bed with her eyes tig
Chapter 91Since Liam was going to meet with his mom by ten am that morning, he had a lot of time to spare and so he decided to spend it with Naya who was spending her morning at home too. After making breakfast, Naya invited him to the table to join her, which he did without thinking twice. After taking the first bite of the pancake in front of him, he raised his head and then gave her a thumbs up making a smile spread across her lips. “I improved right?” she was giddy with excitement. “Yeah, you did. You see, practice makes perfect.” “I was thinking I won't learn any culinary skills but… I did… and I'm so excited right now.” She mused with her hand across her chest. Liam on the other hand was just staring at her with his brow raised. He felt she was overreacting and whenever she returned from her high cloud of excitement, he was going to point it out to her. “What? You don't look pleased.” She said as she grabbed her glass of warm milk. “Even a child in the kindergarten will
Chapter 92Madam Aurelia flipped through the files Mr. Jones had placed on the table and once she was done, she tossed it aside. “This mission is simple. We just need your hacking skills.” She said her gaze fixed on Liam who had been staring at her. “Please tell me more about it.” He replied, eager to find out what the mission was all about. “A few weeks ago, we discovered a group of people who want to trade the top secrets of the nation to foreigners and so we need to stop them at all costs.” She reeled. Gulping, Liam rubbed his hands against the fabric of his pants. It wasn't about the mission, but what the people were about to do. Selling out the secret of the nation no matter how little it was, was like selling the nation. “Mom, we need to hasten up with this otherwise, the whole nation will be in trouble.” He rapped. “Exactly! That's why I decided to ask for your help.” “Of course Mom, I'm ready to do anything provided the country is safe.” Smiling, Madam Aurelia held his
Chapter 93Madam Aurelia was shocked beyond words that she kept staring at Liam like it was the first time she was getting to meet him.She was clearly not expecting this news and even if she ought to have an idea about it, she felt it should not be from Mr. Jones, rather it should be directly from him. Mr. Jones on the other hand was wearing a neutral expression as he waited for the phase to pass away quickly. With the way she was acting, he had detected she had no idea about Liam's marriage and so he was the whistleblower.Bending his head to the ground, he was staring hard at the floor as he constructed an apology in his head to say to Liam once they were out. As for Liam, he was fiddling with his fingers as he darted his eyes around and at the same time was thinking of the right words to say to his mom.“I have no idea until now.” Madam Aurelia said, breaking the ominous silence in the room. Chuckling nervously, Liam dug his hand into his hair. He was still thinking of what to
Chapter 94Taking the phone off her ear, Naya stared at the screen which was still on, it was like a dream to her since she wasn't expecting him to put a call across to her, not now or even in the next months. Already feeling sweaty, she rubbed her hand against her forehead, trying to contain her ragged breath. “Naya, are you still there? It's Nelson.” her brother asked since he was wondering why she had gone mute all of a sudden. Currently, he was at the phone booth in the barrack, gripping the wall and looking over his shoulder at the same time. Slowly, Naya placed the phone back against her ear as she gulped. She was trying to speak but words had refused to form no matter how hard she tried. “Are you well?” She managed to ask after a while. “Yes, I'm. How have you been?” He didn't allow her to give a response before he started speaking, “I'm sorry Naya, I haven't been able to reach out to you. Here at the barracks, we are restricted to using our phones and we can only operate
Chapter 95Stunned, Liam couldn't respond to this. He was just staring at the wall behind them as she kept kissing him with no care in the world. When she finally pulled away, she staggered backwards, pushing her hair away from her face. Chuckling like a maniac, she tried to speak but she burped, sending her words back into her throat. “I will tell you this…” she staggered forward, poking his chest with her middle finger. “Even if you keep pushing me away, I won't let you go. I'm going to make you mine, I will ensure that you love me the same way I love you.” “Fine.” He replied, raising his hand above his head. Now laughing, she wrapped her hands across her chest and after a while she fell on the couch causing Liam to rush towards her. While he was cleaning her up, he kept staring at her face. She had passed out now and so the house was quiet. “I wonder what made her excited or maybe sad for her to drink this much. Ugh! It's so embarrassing.” He muttered, shaking his head to t
