Chapter 120

Scott's POV

Scott had not anticipated hearing what Nate had just said. He groaned, losing all desire to reprimand Nate. He turned to face his brother, who had a guilty expression on his face.

The boy was alone even though he was living in the house with them. That was something they had not considered.

Nate recently lost his father, who had been there his entire life. He also lost his mother when he was very little.

Scott was well familiar with the pain of losing a lost one as he had lost both father and mother too. He was experienced with loss, but he dealt with it in a different, unhealthy way: he shut off the entire world.

Nate was still a child, and he was dealing with sadness in the only manner he knew how: seeking attention from those who should be caring for him, even if it meant having a terrible attitude.

Scott sighed, dragging his fingers through his hair. How had they missed these signs. He should have known this, especially Scott.
