Nathan's POV

"Excuse me, Nathaniel Hayes!" a reporter shouted as he climbed the stairs leading to the court entrance.

He had hoped to walk in quickly without being spotted, but he was Nathaniel Hayes, the man of the hour. Of course he should have known that the reporters would be stationed outside the court waiting for him.

" What do you have to say about the case between your company and Rivers Estates…" someone muttered from behind him.

Nathan didn't even spare the person a glance, he continued climbing the stairs.

He tightened his grip on Nate, bringing the child closer to him as he attempted to dodge the throng of reporters who surged towards him at the sound of his name.

Nathan was unconcerned about the media approaching him since he was suddenly surrounded by a bunch of men dressed in black, his bodyguards.

Thankfully, he had allowed them to follow him to court, just in case of an uproar or something like this. He sighed, shaking his head. Reporters we're fucking predictable, h

Nathan's POVNobody warned him that driving behind Myla, especially when the guy was in a hurry, was a big mistake. Myla drove in a way that made it difficult for whoever was trailing him to catch up with him.Nathan was trying to keep up with Myla's car and the only thing making it possible for him to do that was because of the unique color and type of Myla's car; the guy drove a black shiny Porsche car with a gold tint lined around the sides. It wasn't everyday one saw such car on the highway. He saw Myla change lanes and cut through two cars at the same moment. Nathan doubted he could drive like that without colliding with one of the cars, so he stayed in his lane until he found an opening for him to follow Myla.Myla narrowly escaped a red light after nearly twenty minutes of driving, entering the next road." Fuck!" Nathan cursed and slammed his steering wheel, stopping the car before he ran a red light. He wasn't sure if Myla was aware he was being followed because the guy didn

He didn't know why it had happened again, but something didn't feel right.Lucas and Nathaniel couldn't be awake at the same time. He had a lot of questions to ask Lucas; like where the guy had kept the flash drive, but it seems Nathan would have to find out those answers himself.Leslie squinted and pulled his fingers through his hair. Nathan's POVA memory flooded Nathan's consciousness, and he saw himself as Nathaniel Hayes, unwrapping a package. The paper fell off the parcel, revealing the identical painting he had been admiring a few minutes before. He realized he was once again caught up in a memory of Nathaniel Hayes and a memory of the painting he had seen. If he was recalling Nathaniel's memories of the picture, it had to be significant and vital. The memory slowly progressed to Nathan hanging the painting on the wall in the room that he recognized as Nathaniel’s room. It shocked him that the room was still the same.Nathan reasoned that the little hole that was currently over his bed served this purpose. The painting had already been hung there before. But that wasn't all; the scenario appeared to be fast-forwarding to a time when Nathaniel stormed into the room, yanked down the artwork in a hurry, and sat on his bed.Nathaniel tore open the paper at the rear of the artwork and placed a miniature vehicle in

Nathan's POVAvery snorted, "The proposition. I read it and kept wondering why Hayes Holdings was interested in our investment. According to what I've discovered, you don't need my money. So, why are you pursuing this?," He explained.Nathan had not anticipated to hear that question from Avery. He had expected a question about the deal, perhaps, the profit cut that dual investments was getting from the deal, or something else, but not this.Nathan snorted. "You don't think I'm doing this for the benefit of both our companies?" He asked. That was always the first priority. To check how the deal was going to favor Hayes Holdings. If they didn't stand to benefit at all, believe it, Nathan wouldn't have even gone after dual investment in the first place; Hidden agenda or not.Avery arched his brow as if he didn't believe what Nathan had said. He chuckled dryly, taking a cursory look around before focusing on Nathan.Nathan wondered again why the man had chosen to meet in an art gallery, d

Someone shouted, prompting more questions from other reporters." Did you plead guilty or not guilty! Are you responsible for the death of your son in-law?!"" What do you have to say about your daughter's murder!"Nathan sighed. Shaking his head. Elton Ross had this coming for him for a very long time. He watched the man lower his head in shame. He reminded himself mentally."Thank you, doctor. How is she?" He asked, alluding to Margaret. The doctor exhaled and shook his head. "She's not well. Her body is frail, and she is deficient in some nutrients, which we are currently injecting into her. I assume she took your daughter's death the hard way," he stated.Elton sighed. "You might say that." He mumbled. He admitted that he should have taken her to the hospital sooner, but assumed she could handle the loss and grief on her own.Margaret has experienced loss before. She lost her parents at a young age. So this shouldn't have taken a toll on her especially when she wasn't close to Piper, but perhaps, the bond between mother and daughter was too hard to ignore

Nathan's POVEveryone huddled together in the living room. Nathan was sitting on the couch, while Scott sat on the armrest, half leaning against him."How are you?" Hayden questioned him.Nathan frowned. He last saw the man months ago. If Hayden needed to notify them of something, he would always call, or Scott would go down to the station. This was the first time he had seen the detective in a long time, and the way that Hayden was acting gave him the impression that he had conclusive evidence and was only waiting for their agreement to proceed with his plans."I'm fine." He responded. "You were shot at, and Scott said you've been asleep for two days; don't you think it's best you get checked out at the hospital to be sure you're in great shape?" the police officer inquired.Nathan arched his brow; he hadn't considered it before, and now that detective Hayden had mentioned it, he wondered why he hadn't woke up in the hospital instead, especially given Scott's overprotective and cau

  • Chapter 144

Nolan was the one who spoke first.“You were shot, Nathaniel. I didn’t expect you to forget that.” Nathan blinked. He remembered the experience vividly. He remembered nearly avoiding the gunshot because he had shifted slightly, but he didn’t see how this solved the question of why they were all there.August sighed and approached him, laying an arm over his shoulders. “Someone made the mistake of attempting to kill you, Nathaniel. You didn’t expect us to fold our hands and keep them out of it, right? And no,” he replied, shaking his head. “It became our business the moment someone pointed a

Nathan's POV“So what do we do if they are everywhere, dad?” the child said. The man stated, “We fight for what we have.”If the child was Nathaniel, and he had called the man dad, then it was clear that the man had to be Oleander Hayes, Nathaniel’s father. This was his first time hearing the man’s voice. Why did it have to be now? He wondered. Now that he felt Nathaniel’s consciousness gradually leaving him. He wasn’t sure if he was going to wake up as Nathaniel Hayes again or if he was going to return back to his body as Lucas.Nathan stepped up to the lamp, hoping it would give him an indication as to what was going on in the room. But when he looked closer, it had no switch. The lamp was turned on without a switch.Weird, he thought. How could a lamp be on without a control switch.“ Fight?” the child; Nathaniel asked. “ can’t we do something else, like run?” The question attracted Nathan’s attention. His first instinct when there was trouble had been to run, but Oleander had
