Nathan's POV

Nathan knew he should have kept his mouth shut, but failing to persuade Avery to their side would jeopardize his entire effort with the other four investment companies.

He had promised Myla to deliver, and that was what he was going to do.

He smirked as he placed his hand under the sculpture's outstretched hand. "You know what I see?" he asked, smiling, and continued talking without giving Avery an opportunity to react.

He didn't know how he was able to interpret the sculpture's message, perhaps, it was Nathaniel Hayes consciousness again.

"I see an act of management. She understands the importance of what she has to offer and knows how to manage it effectively. That is why she is serving water with her hand rather than a bowl." He informed Avery, "Her value is rare, and many will fight for even a drop, so none would go to waste."

As Avery returned his gaze to the sculpture, Nathan saw the man's expression shift from one of uncertainty to one of realization, like he was

Elton Ross's POV Elton walked down the lonely corridor in the building. His footsteps were the only sound in the corridor, and his gaze was fixed on the door at the end. He couldn't recall the last time he had been in the building, possibly after Lucas' death and it showed in how dusty and unkempt the place was. He approached the door and entered the passcode, watching the door click open, granting him entry to the room. The things inside the room was highly classified and was not made to be exposed to outsiders. He entered the space and firmly closed the door behind him. The last time he was there, they had tortured Lucas until he agreed to sign the divorce papers and he had given an order to kill Lucas to silence him.He couldn't believe how stupid he'd been to let the boy stay married to his daughter for so long after getting the organ he needed from the boy.He sighed and moved further into the room. Dane and Jackson were already present in the room, waiting for him. They both

Elton’s POVElton only went to the art exhibition in the art gallery because he needed the investment money from Dual investments. That was the only reason why he honored the invitation or he would be in his house sleeping by then.Nothing screams irresponsibility like strolling around a room, admiring paintings and artworks that you have no business looking at in the first place. He still couldn’t understand how individuals would leave their homes to visit a gallery and admire paintings or other works of art all in the name of ‘love for art.’He has never been a lover of art and never will be. If he saw a painting and he liked it, he simply bought it, regardless of it’s meaning or value.Every other thing be damned. The car came to a stop at a red light, and he sighed, eyeing his driver. He didn’t know why the man was driving like he had all the time in the world. He was already late for the art exhibition but would love it if the driver hastened up.“ Next time, try to avoid a red

Elton's POV Elton froze and he felt shivers run down his spine as he heard what the man had said. He made a mental note to contact his link in the police force later to find out what was happening and why they were conducting a search and seize in his warehouse. The other warehouse was the unregistered warehouse, which, despite not being registered in his name, belonged to him. They used that warehouse when they needed off-the-record trucks or cars. It was not only difficult to discover any incriminating materia but also to find any valuable information, owing to the fact that the trucks were hired by private individuals who wished to utilize them for various purposes. He kept his tracks clean, so Elton was not scared at all. He was a cautious man, and there was no paper trail in the warehouse to follow that could lead back to him. They did not keep anything in the warehouse that might be used to incriminate themselves. So why had the cops shown up at the warehouse? What information

Elton's POVElton blinked and scoffed. “So you’re in bed with Nathaniel Hayes now…” he mumbled.Avery rolled his eyes, turning to face him. “Like I said, not your business. A simple question though: what did you do to offend The Hayes family?” he asked.Elton frowned. He had asked himself the same question over and over again but had always come up short. What had he done to offend Nathaniel Hayes; the man had shown his dislike for Elton from the first day that they met.He had done nothing to any Hayes recently, and he was certainly not counting back ten years because no one, absolutely no one, was supposed to know about his involvement in that.Elton had simply supplied what he was asked to supply and that was all. He had excluded himself from the operation and had made it clear. The only reason he had even involved himself in the case in the first place was because he had needed the financial resources for Ross construction and to lift his family out from poverty. It felt as if th

Elton’s POV Elton stormed into his office with his secretary hot on his heels. He had just returned from the meeting with Avery Garfield and all he got out of the meeting was layers of insults.Avery, once again, proving why men with powers were not to be trusted. The man knew how important his investments would be to both Hayes Holdings and Ross construction and had successfully played the two companies against each other. He sighed, slamming his hands on his desk, wincing when a spark of pain coursed through his veins because of that action. He needed to get a grip of the situation and that would mean getting in touch with the right people. He turned sharply to his secretary who was looking like she would rather not be there at the moment. “ Get me everything there is to know about Avery Garfield and the board of directors at Dual investments… I need to know who is making the major decisions!” He barked. She paused as if she was not sure if she should say what she wanted to say, bu

Elton's POVElton winced as he noticed the mark there. If Margaret had observed the mark there, she did not mention it as she turned to leave his office. She walked as far as the door before stopping. Margaret turned to face him as she held the door knob.“Unblock my cards, Elton Ross!” she exclaimed before slamming his door shut, which rocked on its hinges. Even with the door closed, he could hear her heels clanging in the corridor. He moaned and slumped into his seat, his heart racing against his chest. Nathaniel Hayes’ advice echoed clearly in his head: ‘Take care of your health’.At this point, with all the pressure he was facing, he was going to die faster by heart attack before his company even went under. He had more than just his health to worry about; he also had a business and a family to support. The same family that would turn against him the moment his company went bankrupt.A notification appeared on his phone, and he rushed to take it up, thinking it was a response from

Elton’s POV The driver pulled over at the appointed location and climbed out without being told what to do. They were already used to this system, so they knew what to do at any point. Elton waited with bated breath for what would happen next. He heard voices from outside the car. Probably a discussion between his driver and the other man who was going to take over.Within a minute, the driver’s door opened again, and another man he didn’t recognize entered the vehicle and started the engine. The organization made sure they changed drivers every single time.Using the same set of person’s overtime was risky as identities of members stood a risk of being exposed. The new driver adjusted himself into the seat and buckled the seatbelt across his chest.Elton tried to catch the man’s face, but could only see his side view and not his front view. From experience, he knew the driver wouldn’t turn around. There was actually no use for him to see the man’s face, since they would change him

He didn’t have to wait long as everyone arrived just as he did, quietly and in secret; the meeting began nearly immediately.Elton waited while listening to the many difficulties that was laid out by the head. In meetings like this, you listened and only talked if addressed directly. Like he had discovered earlier, Most of the companies targeted had suffered losses, raising the question of why this was happening. Either someone had divulged their identities or another organization was attempting to dethrone them. That was the only reason why the organization was getting involved. They couldn’t stand the losses, because it would also mean that they wouldn’t get their respective shares from these companies. The orga

Nathan's POVNathan shifted his sitting position so that he was half lying down on the plush couch as he watched Elton Ross being carried out of the court and down the stairs. The reporters waiting for an interview outside the court rushed towards him and tried to get near the man despite the officers holding Elton on both sides attempting to stop them."What can you say about the final verdict?!" Someone shouted, prompting more questions from other reporters." Did you plead guilty or not guilty! Are you responsible for the death of your son in-law?!"" What do you have to say about your daughter's murder!"Nathan sighed. Shaking his head. Elton Ross had this coming for him for a very long time. He watched the man lower his head in shame. He rolled his eyes and switched to another channel, but they were still reporting the same story about billionaire CEO, Elton Ross ordering the murder of his son-in-law, Lucas, and how he had pleaded guilty to the other four counts laid against him

The notion of being responsible for his daughter's death occurred to Elton, but he took a deep breath and buried it.'Now was not the time to deal with trivial matters, Elton'. He reminded himself mentally."Thank you, doctor. How is she?" He asked, alluding to Margaret. The doctor exhaled and shook his head. "She's not well. Her body is frail, and she is deficient in some nutrients, which we are currently injecting into her. I assume she took your daughter's death the hard way," he stated.Elton sighed. "You might say that." He mumbled. He admitted that he should have taken her to the hospital sooner, but assumed she could handle the loss and grief on her own.Margaret has experienced loss before. She lost her parents at a young age. So this shouldn't have taken a toll on her especially when she wasn't close to Piper, but perhaps, the bond between mother and daughter was too hard to ignore

Her seductive stare as she was about to ensnare a man in her fingers. He always woke up dreaming about her and the dreams always ended with that disappointing stare from his daughter. • Chapter 145

Nathan's POVEveryone huddled together in the living room. Nathan was sitting on the couch, while Scott sat on the armrest, half leaning against him."How are you?" Hayden questioned him.Nathan frowned. He last saw the man months ago. If Hayden needed to notify them of something, he would always call, or Scott would go down to the station. This was the first time he had seen the detective in a long time, and the way that Hayden was acting gave him the impression that he had conclusive evidence and was only waiting for their agreement to proceed with his plans."I'm fine." He responded. "You were shot at, and Scott said you've been asleep for two days; don't you think it's best you get checked out at the hospital to be sure you're in great shape?" the police officer inquired.Nathan arched his brow; he hadn't considered it before, and now that detective Hayden had mentioned it, he wondered why he hadn't woke up in the hospital instead, especially given Scott's overprotective and cau

  • Chapter 144

Nathan's POV“So, is this a visit or what?” he inquired, smiling. He didn’t want them to notice how tense he was. Too many Hayes in one house was enough for one person to notice something unusual about him and begin connecting the dots.It wouldn’t be long before they discovered that he wasn’t the real Nathaniel Hayes.Noah narrowed his eyes at him, then shifted his focus to his brother, Nolan. Nolan was the one who spoke first.“You were shot, Nathaniel. I didn’t expect you to forget that.” Nathan blinked. He remembered the experience vividly. He remembered nearly avoiding the gunshot because he had shifted slightly, but he didn’t see how this solved the question of why they were all there.August sighed and approached him, laying an arm over his shoulders. “Someone made the mistake of attempting to kill you, Nathaniel. You didn’t expect us to fold our hands and keep them out of it, right? And no,” he replied, shaking his head. “It became our business the moment someone pointed a

Nathan's POV“So what do we do if they are everywhere, dad?” the child said. The man stated, “We fight for what we have.”If the child was Nathaniel, and he had called the man dad, then it was clear that the man had to be Oleander Hayes, Nathaniel’s father. This was his first time hearing the man’s voice. Why did it have to be now? He wondered. Now that he felt Nathaniel’s consciousness gradually leaving him. He wasn’t sure if he was going to wake up as Nathaniel Hayes again or if he was going to return back to his body as Lucas.Nathan stepped up to the lamp, hoping it would give him an indication as to what was going on in the room. But when he looked closer, it had no switch. The lamp was turned on without a switch.Weird, he thought. How could a lamp be on without a control switch.“ Fight?” the child; Nathaniel asked. “ can’t we do something else, like run?” The question attracted Nathan’s attention. His first instinct when there was trouble had been to run, but Oleander had
