Chapter 6: New life

It had been years since Evan had last laid eyes on his grandfather, ever since he had chosen to depart from the mansion and embrace a simpler life with his beloved wife, Andrea.

Mr.Winston's eyes sparkled with joy as he greeted Evan, "It doesn't matter, you are back now, my boy."

Evan's voice peaceful as he confessed, "I was betrayed."

“You were never truly happy with Andrea. Your love for her clouded your judgment.” Mr.Winston said.

"I thought she would never leave me, even at my worst," He confessed, his words slightly trembling with emotion, "You were right at that time. Perhaps she did love me at one point, but she couldn't resist the temptation of material wealth."

"It's good to be back. The mansion is still yours, and our company is waiting for you." His grandfather replied, his voice gentle yet resolute.

Evan closed his eyes, overwhelmed by a whirlwind of emotions. Anger, resentment, and a burning desire for revenge consumed him.

"Trust me, grandpa." Evan answered easily. From today, he will become a different person.

Mr. Winston enlisted the help of a top doctor to help Evan regain his ability to walk.

"You don’t know how worried I was after you had a car accident. I almost forgot my promise to you and transferred you to the best ward immediately." Mr. Winston disapprovingly said, "This way, you won't have to suffer anymore."

"It's okay, Grandpa," Evan said casually, "If it weren't for this, I wouldn't have seen them either."

He was once declared paralyzed by doctors, but his legs have now recovered. Evan walked slowly beside Mr. Winston, his steps brisk.

"Go with Elias now. You need to buy things from the mall," Mr. Winston suggested, a smile lighting up his face.

"Sure thing, Grandpa," Evan replied, stepping into the car.

Upon reaching the mall, Evan wasted no time and headed straight for the high-end clothing store.

He no longer needs to buy those cheap shirts at Wal-Mart. For the rest of his life, he will need some more expensive clothing.

He opted for a sleek dark suit, complemented by a crisp white long-sleeve shirt, black trousers, and polished dress shoes.

As he stood there, he exuded an air of confidence and charm that caught the attention of every woman in the store, leaving them blushing in his wake.

"What do you think?" Evan asked, a mischievous smile playing on his lips.

"Absolutely perfect, boss," Elias praised, his admiration evident.

"I believe in your aesthetic." Evan replied, his smile tinged with a touch of self-assurance.

Approaching the cashier, he swiped his cards to pay for his purchases.

"The total cost is 50,000 dollars. Please sign this receipt, Sir," the cashier informed him.

His heart was filled with emotion. Back when he lived a simple life with Andrea, he could never have imagined affording such luxuries.

This hefty amount was more than he had ever earned in his entire life, even during his five-year stint as an office worker.

The cashier obviously misunderstood his hesitation. She started to become impatient.

"Can you pay for it now? If you can't, please leave here quickly. I'm afraid you blocking the people waiting in line behind you."

Evan glanced at her.

"There's no one waiting in line behind me."

“Is it?” the cashier said with a sneer. "Because one of our customers is dressed like you, I thought our place had turned into a supermarket."

Evan frowned. But before he said anything, his phone suddenly rang. Mr. Winston's name pop up on the screen.

He walked a little further away to answer the phone, gesturing to Elisa. Elisa understood and paid for him with his card.

"How are you, my boy?" Mr.Winston inquired.

"Absolutely, grandpa." Evan answered warmly.

Behind him, he heard the cashier say loudly, seemingly casually just then. "Oh my God, a man who makes women pay for it."

But it wasn't this that stopped Evan.

He spotted a familiar figure in the distance. It was unmistakably Andrea.
